Title: S7EP7, Life of a Divorced Kid, Balancing Two Different Worlds with Anthony J Mohr Summary: Tony's father was a gregarious, radio and tv star. Tony listened to his voice on the radio at night as he went to sleep. As he got older, he got to know his father better. When his parents divorced, his world shattered. Where was Dad and why was Mom unhappy? Tony's advice to parents who are divorcing. Get your kids into therapy. They may seem fine on the outside, but on the inside they could be confused, sad, angry, or afraid. Tony luckily had an actor/teacher who understood what he was going through and took him under his wing. When Tony's parents both remarried, he learned to balance between the two different households. Which was right, better or more desirable? Read Tony's book, "Every Other Weekend," to learn more about Beverly Hills in the 50's and 60's, life in Old Hollywood, and how Tony navigated between successful Stan and Gregarious Gerald. Bio: Author and retired judge Anthony Mohr knew his childhood and adolescence were different from most other kids his age. In Every Other Weekend: Coming of Age with Two Different Dads (Koehler Books), Anthony Mohr offers a poignant and compassionate portrait of two larger-than-life men – his actor father Gerald Mohr and inventor stepfather Stanley Dashew – and what it was like growing up in a blended family at a time when divorce was rare and considered shocking. He would make a great guest on Getting Real With Hilary. Mohr's days were littered with celebrities and parties; living abroad for film and TV shoots; even appearances in TV episodes, all courtesy of his radio and screen actor father Gerald Mohr. After Gerald Mohr leaves his family for another woman, his mother later marries businessman Stanley Dashew. Delivering a unique perspective on growing up in Beverly Hills in the 1950s and 60s, Anthony tracks his stepfather's career successes and his biological father's failures as he tries to find his place in the world. One weekend he's sailing on his stepfather's fifty-eight-foot catamaran; the next, his Swedish stepmother tells him that they're poor. Every Other Weekend sees Anthony finding his place at the edge of what others regard as a dream world, a place where reality and fantasy blend, maps lead to the homes of the stars, and obstacles abound. Sie wird ins künstliche Koma versetzt, niemand weiß, ob ihr Gehirn Schaden genommen hat, ob sie je wieder aufwachen wird. “Get this and get it straight!” We're celebrating Gerald Mohr - the radio actor who brought a two-fisted intensity to Philip Marlowe - in honor of his birthday on June 11. He was one of the best stars of the era, and his performance makes The Adventures of Philip Marlowe one of the best detective dramas of the day. We'll hear Mohr as Marlowe in “The Easy Mark” (originally aired on CBS on January 29, 1949) and “The Long Arm” (originally aired on CBS on February 7, 1950). Then, he's a less scrupulous character in “Lady with a Key” from The Whistler (originally aired on CBS on April 2, 1950). Finally, he co-stars with Jack Benny in “A Good and Faithful Servant,” a story of a $50,000 department store heist and the mild-mannered clerk who pulls it off, from Suspense (originally aired on CBS on June 2, 1952).

In 1974, Ohio's prison population was 8,400 Ohioan. By 2011, the number grew to 51,000. Are we any safer as a result? Do all these inmates need to remain behind bars? Are we just locking up people without adequate attention being paid to things like education, drug treatment, mental health treatment and cognitive therapy? Our guest, Gary Mohr, former Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, wanted to know, and so he called on the late Edward Latessa, PhD, of the University of Cincinnati's Department of Criminal Justice to find out. Latessa spent three years visiting every prison in Ohio, collecting data and examining every program prisons offered to inmates. He concluded that an inmate's pursuit of a GED, drug treatment and other self-help programs resulted in a statistically significant difference in terms of violence and recidivism. After Latessa completed his research, the Ohio legislature delved into revising the criminal code and created a panel of 23 individuals, consisting of legislators, defense attorneys, prosecutors and corrections staff. After a year and a half, several recommendations were made, all of which were endorsed by a legislative committee, and then—nothing. No legislation was introduced. If Ohio's prison population has increased from 8,400 to 51,000, while the general population has remained fairly stable, that means, Mohr explains, there's either a staggering increase in crime, or we're not doing what we need to do to reduce criminality and the amount of time people spend in prison, or some combination.Crime didn't increase significantly during Mohr's tenure, but the criminal code increased, and sentencing changed. Now we have more mandatory sentencing, which is a disincentive for inmates to engage in those programs that Latessa proved were beneficial in reducing the prison population. Add to this that politically it's popular to be tough on crime. Sentencing offenders to long jail time is more popular than pushing for rehabilitation. Listen to the conversation.

When I got back to the States, I started looking around for ways to listen to Celtic music as we thoroughly enjoyed listening to it while on vacation.  I then found your podcast and have been listening somewhat regularly since.  (Summertime tends toward country music for me.  But when the weather gets colder, especially after the holidays, I find myself looking for you again!  I also catch up a bit sitting outside on a weekend morning on our back patio at other times when I get the chance!) We also got a new dog soon after coming home and named him Guinness in honor of the trip!  (We also thought he reminded us a bit of a pint of the brew with his white accents!  Check out his collar!)  When I take him on his daily walks, you are a regular on our playlist!  Me walking my Irish dog and listening to the I&CMP while recovering from back surgery  -  beautiful!!! Thanks for helping with my recovery!  Hope you are doing well with yours and look forward to continuing to listen more over time.  I attached a few pics for you too  -  some from Ireland in places which I'm sure you will recognize and one of Guinness and I on our latest walk today!! Send us a textTom Mohr was struck by lightning and it changed everything. From that moment of literal shock came a spiritual awakening that would transform not just his own life, but the lives of countless business leaders he would go on to mentor and guide. This conversation delves deep into Tom's remarkable journey from newspaper executive to digital media president to startup founder, revealing how each professional step prepared him to coach CEOs with extraordinary effectiveness. With five business books to his name, Tom brings profound insights about leadership and organizational growth that would be valuable on their own—but his story offers something even more powerful. What makes this episode truly special is Tom's vulnerability in sharing his spiritual journey. After losing his mother to suicide at age eight, he rejected faith entirely until life-altering events set him on a new path. Now, as he prepares for his Difference Makers Retreat in Plymouth, Minnesota, Tom articulates a vision where faith calls us both inward toward personal growth and outward toward meaningful service. The most inspiring moment comes when Tom addresses the common feelings of unworthiness and incapability that hold many back from making a difference. "Never underestimate the power of a committed person," he encourages, sharing stories of ordinary people who've created extraordinary change. His powerful statement that "God does incredible things with broken tools" serves as both comfort and call to action for listeners questioning their own potential impact.Whether you're struggling to find purpose, looking to integrate faith with leadership, or simply searching for inspiration to make a difference in your corner of the world, Tom's wisdom will leave you believing in possibilities you hadn't previously imagined. Listen, be inspired, and then share this episode with someone who needs to hear that they too can be a difference maker. This podcast is a proud member of the Mayday Media Network. Send us a textSomething extraordinary is about to light up the Quad Cities skyline. The Figge Art Museum's glass façade will soon transform into Evanescent Field – a breathtaking light installation and the largest public art display in Iowa's history. As the Figge celebrates its centennial year, Executive Director Melissa Mohr and one of the Senior Curators, Joshua Johnson, reveal the journey behind this monumental project. World-renowned artist Leo Villareal, creator of San Francisco's famous Bay Lights, has designed a mesmerizing installation featuring over 3,000 feet of programmable LED lights woven throughout the museum's glass exterior. Unlike typical light displays, Evanescent Field creates sequences that never repeat, responding specifically to the Mississippi River, the community, and the building itself."We wanted to give something back to the community that's supported us for 100 years," explains Mohr. The installation fulfills architect David Chipperfield's original vision for the building as a beacon of creativity and accessibility. Johnson describes how Villareal transforms LEDs from commercial tools into what he calls a "digital campfire" – a gathering place where art transcends traditional boundaries. Visible to everyone passing by, whether commuting to work or traveling through the region, Evanescent Field removes barriers to experiencing art.The public unveiling happens May 17th at "Glow Up" – a community celebration featuring live music, family activities and food trucks, culminating when Villareal himself activates the installation as darkness falls. Even after the celebration ends, the lights will continue illuminating the Quad Cities nightly, becoming a postcard-worthy image representing the region's creative spirit.Discover the technical marvels, artistic vision, and hopeful future this landmark installation represents. As the Figge looks toward its next hundred years, Evanescent Field symbolizes its commitment to weaving art more deeply into the fabric of the community – creating a museum that truly belongs to everyone. Don't miss your chance to witness this stunning merger of architecture, technology and artistic expression that will forever change how we see the Quad Cities after dark.QC, That's Where is a podcast powered by Visit Quad Cities. "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe" was a hardboiled detective radio series based on Raymond Chandler's iconic private eye. Unlike many other detective shows of the era, it was known for its serious tone, with fewer lighthearted moments. The show premiered on NBC in June 1947 as a summer replacement for Bob Hope, titled "The New Adventures of Philip Marlowe," starring Van Heflin. The first episode adapted Chandler's short story "Red Wind," and the NBC run concluded in September 1947.In 1948, the series moved to CBS and was renamed "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe," with Gerald Mohr taking on the lead role. This CBS version also began with a different adaptation of "Red Wind." By 1949, it had become the most popular radio program. The CBS series aired for 114 episodes, from September 1948 to September 1950.From July to September 1951, the show briefly returned as a summer replacement for "Hopalong Cassidy," with Mohr reprising his role, except for one episode in 1950 featuring William Conrad.A notable episode, "The Birds on the Wing" (November 26, 1949), famously broke the fourth wall at both the beginning and end. Marlowe mentions reading Chandler's latest novel, "The Little Sister," and in the conclusion, Gracie Allen asks Marlowe to find a radio show for her husband, George Burns.Lyn Murray composed the program's music. The theme used in the first two NBC episodes, where Marlowe narrates the opening of Chandler's "Red Wind," later became a prominent motif in Murray's score for Alfred Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief" (1954).Despite its popularity, "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe" lacked consistent sponsorship, with only brief periods supported by Ford Motor Company and Wrigley's Gum in 1950.Raymond Chandler had minimal involvement with the radio series, content with the weekly royalties for his character's use and expressing moderate satisfaction with Gerald Mohr's portrayal of Marlowe. The first NBC episode's script was by Milton Geiger, which Chandler found "thoroughly flat." The CBS version, produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, was better received. The writing team for the CBS series included Gene Levitt, Robert Mitchell, Mel Dinelli, and Kathleen Hite, with music by Richard Aurandt and Roy Rowan as the announcer. The cast alongside Gerald Mohr featured actors such as Jeff Corey, Howard McNear, Parley Baer, Lawrence Dobkin, Virginia Gregg, Gloria Blondell, and Lou Krugman.

Living in France, it's hard to overestimate the prevalence and importance of wine. Not only is it a marker and reflection of the place where it's made, but it's an integral part of French culture and cuisine. It's a natural pairing with meals and accompanies almost every gathering with friends and family.I like wine, but like most people in France, I'm an amateur. I know what I like and what I don't like. But I'm taking more of an interest in wine to deepen my knowledge. So I'm fortunate to have friends like Preston Mohr, who's an expert on wine but also knows how to communicate and explain wine in simple terms, without any pretense, so we can all get more enjoyment out of it. I invited Preston into my Paris kitchen to talk about French wines — what to look for when buying French wine, how to order wine without feeling sheepish in a restaurant or café, and what to do if the wine you've been served isn't to your liking. (Which was discussed in the comments here.)We also chatted about how the French wine world has changed over the last few years, whether Beaujolais should be avoided, as well as his favorite wine bars in Paris.Originally from Minnesota, Preston has called Paris home for the last twenty years. He's the Managing Director of the Wine Scholar Guild, which connects wine lovers from around the world and offers certification programs for wine professionals and enthusiasts who want to learn more about wine, either in person, at one of 130 locations around the world, or online, at your own pace. In fact, I'm thinking of signing up! We had lunch today at Le Cornichon and tried to power through this giant platter of frites (that were very good), but only managed to make a good-sized dent in them. Next time…In the meantime, enjoy listening to my chat with Preston. -David Links* Wine Scholar Guild (website)* Preston Mohr on LinkedIn* Preston Mohr on InstagramSubscribe to my newsletter to get new podcasts, recipes, Paris restaurant tips, and more, sent right to your Inbox! Achieving this coherence requires more than technical oversight—it demands a strategic mindset rooted in business value. Tools like Signavio and LeanIX have become essential in this effort, enabling CIOs to map and model business processes, identify redundancies, and ensure clear ownership across the IT landscape. These platforms not only enhance visibility but also support cross-functional alignment and better resource utilization. However, the true power of Enterprise Architecture lies in its ability to drive adaptability and collaboration among stakeholders. CIOs must champion EA not just as a framework, but as a transformative force that connects technology initiatives to tangible business outcomes. Past failures highlight the dangers of poor communication and lack of executive buy-in, where even well-designed EA strategies can result in underused systems or disconnected goals. Ultimately, CIOs who align IT with dynamic business needs and foster a culture of agility are best positioned to lead through change and deliver long-term value. In this episode, Sam Gupta engages in a LinkedIn live session with Martin Mohr, CIO, RAFI Group in a live LinkedIn session and discusses business transformation from the lenses of a CIO.Background Soundtrack: Away From You – Mauro SommFor more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs. rocks or elevatiq.com. Some of the most famous pianists in the world, including Van Cliburn and Vladimir Horowitz, relied on Franz Mohr, chief concert technician at Steinway & Sons in New York, to ensure that their concert pianos were ready for performances. A master piano tuner, Mohr was sought-after for his intricate knowledge of pianos and great skill developed over decades. Mohr believed his skills were an avenue to serve God, and he regularly shared his faith with pianists and performance staff. When the nation of Israel was preparing to build the tent of meeting and other items necessary for worship (Exodus 31:7–11), they needed individuals with expert skills. God appointed two skilled artisans, Bezalel and Oholiab, to do the work and filled them with the “Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs” (vv. 3–4). In addition to their specialized skills, God empowered them with His Spirit to guide their work. Their willingness to use their unique talents in service to God allowed the Israelites to appropriately worship Him. Whether or not we consider ourselves artistic, each of us has unique, God-given gifts that we can use to serve others (Romans 12:6). Empowered by the Spirit, we can serve and worship God through our work using the wisdom, understanding, and skills He’s given us.
