Estes Park was founded more than 100 years ago, and of course it was inhabited for thousands of years before then by the Ute and Arapaho Native American tribes. You don't get that kind of history without a few tall tales building up along the way; legends and ghost stories retold through generations. But myths are more than just tales. They are a part of living history, part of the fabric of a place passed from campfire to campfire, woven through the land in the invisible threads of our imagination. And by following those threads, we'll not only have some fun, but we'll also see a side to these Rocky Mountains that most people don't even know exist. This episode follows three different stories: the Earl of Dunraven, the legend of the blue mist and the story behind the keys at the Seven Keys Lodge, which historically was called the Baldpate Inn. Two of these stories are told by Estes Park's professional storyteller, Kurtis Kelly. Learn more about historic characters from Estes Park through Kurtis' upcoming events or book a private show. Learn more about the Earl of Dunraven here. Learn more about the haunted sides of the Seven Keys Lodge and the blue mist here. The Seven Keys Lodge opened their tasting room this past summer in their famous key room marveled about in this episode. Here you will find handcrafted cocktails and a variety of an ever-changing menu of food. Armchair Explorer is produced by Armchair Productions, the audio experts for the travel industry. For those couples looking for a wedding with plenty of activities, Estes Park is perfect! With abundant outdoor activities, your wedding party can come together in nature's finest playgrounds. Estes Park has something for everyone, from hiking trails and backcountry camping to golf courses and ski slopes. With Rocky Mountain National Park only a ten-minute drive from Estes, the bride, groom, and all their guests have time to explore. The park has hiking trails; if you want to avoid hiking, you can drive through the entire park! Some of my favorite animals in the park are foxes, mule deer, big horned sheep, elk, rocky mountain elk, moose, coyote, mountain Lion, black bears, and yellow-bellied marmot. When it comes to breathtaking scenery, Estes Park has a rocky mountain backdrop that is perfect for your big day. Whether you host your wedding outdoors or inside one of the Park's many luxurious venues, the area's stunning natural beauty will be hard to miss. I recommend staying in the Black Canyon Inn, which has the best view of the Estes Valley and surrounding mountains, or the historic Stanley Hotel, where the shining was filmed. The Stanley also has Spirited Night Tours and delicious food at their Cascades Restaurant & Lounge and The Post Chicken & Beer bar. The Cascades whiskey bar has fantastic drinks and some of the best lamb lobster bisk I have ever tasted! The post is a top-notch spot for brunch after a wedding, and it also has dinner and excellent hot chicken. Other top-notch breakfast, brunch, and lunch spots are Notch Top Bakery & Cafe, Mountain Home Cafe, The Egg of Estes, Kind Coffee, and the Big Horn Restaurant.Notch Top Bakery & Cafe is located in Stanley Village Shopping Center. It is usually crowded but has excellent food and pretty decor. Mountain Home Cafe is also located in the Stanley Village Shopping Center but has a more casual atmosphere. The Egg of Estes is located in downtown Estes. It is diner-style with a relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much that I returned several times on our trip. Kind Coffee is located at the beginning of downtown Estes. Parking is a bit difficult here, but it is excellent for a quick breakfast. They have great Coffee, bagels, and burritos. Big Horn Restaurant is located at the end of Main Street and has a casual atmosphere. The shopping and dining in Estes Park offer a surprising variety for a small town. From local boutiques and antique stores to incredible restaurants and dining experiences, there's something for everyone. My favorite store was The Christmas Shoppe where my husband and I found some memorable gifts for the whole family. For dinner, stop at the Dunraven or Bird and Jim. The Dunraven has a beautiful lake view in the valley of Estes, and The Birds Nest is a great rehearsal dinner spot. By day, it's only a coffee shop, but the second floor is a beautiful event space. Food is catered by the first-class restaurant across the street called Bird and Jim. If you are looking for a chill brewery for a meet and greet or to hang with friends, check out The Barrel or The Wheel Bar. Whatever you're looking for, whether it's gifts for your wedding party or the perfect dress for your big day, Estes Park has it all! With its natural beauty, abundant activities, and countless shopping and dining options, Estes Park is the perfect destination for your wedding this season. The Lock AsylumA radio drama by Cara Jennings and Sophie TrottThis compelling and visceral new drama takes inspiration from real histories of ‘fallen women' in 1787, as they enter The Lock Asylum, a new institution that aimed to morally reform them following treatment for syphilis with mercury. Sophie Trott stars as Ruth Plym, a real patient, who, pregnant and desperate, deals with the restrictive conditions she finds herself in. She tries to bond with Martha, Mary and Sarah, her traumatised and volatile fellow inmates - young adults, trying follow their dreams in London town, the richest city in the world. They've been chewed up and spat out by a society where life is cheap and options limited, if you are female and poor. Will they take up this second chance to become devout Christian servants or wives? Or will they stick two fingers up at the proto prison, and go back to a life of freedom and risk? Will anyone survive beyond the age of 25?Credits:Anna-Kate Golding - Martha ThreadgillJenny Gordon - Mrs BakerRosie May Jones - Mary CarterJonathan Kemp - Reverend ScottSophie Trott - Ruth PlymReuben Williams - Mr FisherCharmaine Wombwell - Sarah DownesAll the other parts were played by the cast.Studio Manager - Camilo SalazarHistorical Consultant - Professor Patrick WallisDirector - Beckie MillsProducers - Beckie Mills, Cara Jennings and Sophie Trott.Produced in association with LSE department of Economic History, Morley Radio, and Positive Cynic AudioThanks to Esther Baker at Synergy Theatre Project, Dorian Ford, Mandy Gordon, Sean Grundy, Lizzie Knight, Ray Malone, Father Damien Mason at St Mary Brookfield, Kevin Sienna, John Styles, Simon Szreta, the participants from our workshops at Dunraven 6th form, Morley College, City Lit, Totteridge Academy, Drama Studio London, The Mollies at St Margaret's House; the department of Economic History at LSE, and its students, and Morley Radio.

Colorado's Estes Valley was once a wild, lonely parkland known only to the nomadic tribes of Ute and Arapaho. When the Earl of Dunraven visited in 1872, he coveted this a "sportsman's paradise" of rushing streams and peaceful meadows teeming with fish and game. He sought to keep the valley to himself as a private hunting preserve, but as more and more American settlers were drawn by its natural beauty, he realized that his dream could never be a reality. Yankee inventor Freelan Oscar Stanley arrived in the valley, weak and underweight from the symptoms of consumption. To his amazement, just one season was enough to restore his health to better than before. Overjoyed, he vowed to return each summer for the rest of his life. But he and his wife Flora were used to the sophistication of East Coast society, and the little community of Estes Park offered little to stimulate and challenge this multi-talented genius. Together, they resolved to build a beautiful grand hotel, one that many years later would play host to a young Stephen King, inspiring one of his most famous and chilling tales.
In 1825, three Murphy brothers purchased an old woolen mills in Midleton in County Cork and converted it into a distillery on the banks of the Dungourney River…a distillery that over the past 200 years has evolved into one of the world’s greatest whiskey distilleries. 9 years later in 1834 and 70 miles away to the north west, construction was also underway in the village of Adare in Co. Limerick as the 2nd earl of Dunraven began converting an old Georgian house on the Maigue River into what has today become one of the world’s greatest manor houses and hotels - Adare Manor. In this episode of Stories and Sips I’ll share the story of how these two great houses - one a whiskey house and the other a house of hospitality have come together to produce something amazing.

Legendary converted its stake in its Kyrgyz gold asset to shares in COTL in late December 2017, following which, COTL was acquired by Dunraven Resources Limited ("Dunraven") in a share swap. This has resulted in Legendary having a 2.0% stake in Dunraven. COTL is now a 100% owned subsidiary of Dunraven which holds the Mahdia Permit in the Gulf of Hammamet offshore Tunisia. CfA's Liquid Crypto Bond ("Bond") issue and Initial Coin Offering ("ICO"), launched at the end of 2017, will see the majority of up to 5 billion "ANGEL tokens" ("Tokens") issued to investors.
