Wendy shares her inner perspective from her years living as a married man and father while grappling deeply with identity, societal expectations, and secrets that visited her sleep. Her story offers us deep insight into the human being's profound ability for change - at any age. Some quotes from Wendy:"The greatest freedom I've discovered wasn't physical—it was mental. Changing my thoughts and beliefs changed everything.""If you've never looked in the mirror and questioned your actual gender identity, 'I should have been a boy,' or 'I should have been a girl,' if you've never done that, I don't expect you to fully understand the depth of the distress.""My therapist challenged every one of my thoughts, every one of my beliefs in myself.""When you're able to finally align your outside with your inside, the sense of peace and joy is indescribable.""Every limiting belief I confronted was like shedding a layer; underneath, I found who I truly was."Guest Bio - Wendy Cole:Wendy Cole is a Transition Mentor dedicated to supporting individuals navigating significant life changes. For Todd Lester, travel isn't just about checking destinations off a list. It's really about embracing the unknown, connecting with people, and finding magic in unexpected moments. His latest adventure took him to Spain, where he joined Pueblo Inglés, a one-of-a-kind program that brings together native English speakers and Spanish students for a week of immersive conversation, culture, and connection. No textbooks and no formal lessons. Just real conversations, shared experiences, and the kind of learning that happens when walls come down and laughter takes over. From the lively streets of Madrid to the breathtaking Spanish countryside, Todd found himself swapping stories over tapas, witnessing the fire and passion of this amazing country, and forming friendships that stretched beyond language barriers. What started as a volunteer experience quickly became something much bigger—a reminder of why travel is so transformative. It's not just about seeing new places; it's about discovering new sides of yourself, finding joy in spontaneity, and saying yes to the adventure unfolding in front of you.So, what lessons did Todd bring home from Spain? And where will his insatiable curiosity take him next? Let's find out!
Why do some stressors make us stronger, while others break us down? How can we train ourselves to return to center when life throws us off course? And what is the ultimate determinant of health and happiness? In this powerful episode of HEAL with Kelly, I sit down with my dear friend Jeff Krasno — co-founder of Commune and Wanderlust, host of the Commune Podcast, and author of the upcoming book, "Good Stress: The Benefits of Doing Hard Things." Jeff unpacks the science of resilience, exploring how intentional stressors — like cold plunges, fasting, and difficult conversations — not only strengthen the body but also sharpen the mind and enhance emotional intelligence. He shares how his own journey of self-discovery led him to recognize his lifelong mission of bringing people together in deep, meaningful connection - and reframing how we can use challenges for our own good. Through personal stories, cutting-edge research, and wisdom gathered from some of the world's greatest minds, Jeff reveals the hidden power of community, the physiological magic of discomfort, and the tools we can all use to find balance in a chaotic world. Together, we explore how small but powerful changes can shift the way we approach stress, connection, and our own potential. Listen in and discover tools to help build resilience, embrace challenges, and create true ease in your life. This episode is brought to you by LMNT, Maui Nui, and Birch Living. When we think of stress, we often associate it with something negative—something to avoid. Our modern culture has fostered an environment of persistent chronic stress, yet at the same time, we've also eliminated beneficial stress by designing a life of chronic ease. Today's guest joins us to explain why stress isn't just unavoidable—it's essential for growth. Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with Jeff Krasno, CEO and co-founder of Commune, to explore the benefits of positive stress in our modern world. Jeff explains why chronic stress harms our health and longevity, while adaptive stress—like fasting and hot/cold exposure—has been key to human evolution and survival. He also shares how to evaluate your protocols, behaviors, and routines to ensure they keep you in balance. Jeff is the co-founder and CEO of Commune, a masterclass platform focused on personal and societal well-being, and the co-creator of Wanderlust, a global series of wellness events. He also hosts the Commune podcast. His latest venture, Good Stress: The Benefits of Doing Hard Things, expands on his personal story and wellness protocols. Drawing from over 400 podcast conversations and his own experiences, the book explores deliberate, self-imposed behaviors that enhance social, psychological, and physical well-being. In this episode, Dhru and Jeff dive into: How chronic ease is leading to disease (00:37) How to befriend stress (5:44) Jeff's personal journey and the health challenges that shaped him (09:50) Fasting, hunger, and stress—how they can benefit you (23:34) Fasting recommendations for women and the importance of an individualized approach (26:50) Jeff's Substack insights on weight loss (32:42) Research on cold plunges, blood glucose, cancer, glutamate, immunotherapy, and more (36:50) The future of health, chronic disease, systemic issues, and the decline of public trust in health and food institutions (43:19) The impact of health podcasts, their practices, and how people are paying attention to new information (56:24) How to lean into stressful conversations—plus tips for tackling them (59:18) Evaluating our protocols, behaviors, and routines—do they help us find balance and return to center (1:19:50) Final thoughts (1:24:45) Also mentioned in this episode: Jeff's new book - Good Stress: The Health Benefits of Doing Hard Things Commune Podcast Gabor Mate - Kiyumi retreat Thomas Seyfried's glutamate research KetoPet Sanctuary For more on Jeff, follow him on Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and his Website. Here is my "current "To Do List" for adventure travel, otherwise known as a Bucket List. Will I get through the list before I am told that I will have to stay at home for the rest of my life? A horrible thought it is.There are so many wonderful places on our planet and I rather be traveling to experience them than listening to all of the bad news on TV. The anger, the hate, the egos, the lies are all depressing. So I am making the most of it.My bucket list will keep growing no doubt, but I rather have it that way, than nothing on it.Enjoy my current top 10 from the Americas, Africa, and the South Pacific.Life is short and fragile. http://www.malcolmteasdale.com

Hydration is KeyOne of the biggest mistakes travelers make is not drinking enough water. Air travel, hot climates, and constant movement can dehydrate you fast, leading to fatigue and brain fog. The fix? Always carry a reusable water bottle and sip consistently throughout the day. Bonus tip: Add an electrolyte packet to your water to replenish lost minerals and stay even more refreshed! Dr. Kinney recommends using high-quality electrolytes if you want to take your hydration and energy levels up a notch. Her top picks include LMNT to help replenish essential minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium—perfect for preventing dehydration and keeping your body balanced while traveling. Fun fact, electrolytes also keep you from having to constantly hit the restroom on the plane!Dr. Kinney's Go-To SupplementsDr. Kinney also suggests packing a few key supplements to keep your immune system strong and stress levels low. Some of her must-haves include:Magnesium – Helps with constipation, relaxation, sleep, and muscle recovery.B Vitamins – Supports energy levels and combats travel fatigue.Vitamin C – Boosts the immune system to keep you feeling great.Probiotics – Aids digestion and keeps your gut happy after eating new foods.Adaptogens (like Ashwagandha) – Helps regulate stress and keep your body in balance.Zinc – Supports the immune system by helping the body fight off infections, making it essential for avoiding travel-related colds and sickness.Breathe Your Stress AwayFeeling overwhelmed in a crowded airport or a busy city? Deep belly breathing can work wonders to reset your nervous system. A simple but powerful technique is the 4-Second Breathing Method:Inhale deeply through your nose for four seconds.Hold your breath for four seconds.Exhale slowly through your mouth for four seconds.Repeat as needed. This method helps calm your nervous system, reduce stress, and bring you back to the present moment—perfect for travel anxiety, flight delays, or any stressful situation on the road. You can even use this breathing practice before you eat to combat bloating and stomach discomfort.Smart Snacking for Endless EnergyWe've all been there—running through an airport, starving, only to grab a sugary snack that leads to a crash an hour later. Instead, plan ahead! Pack protein-rich snacks like nuts, jerky, or protein bars to keep your energy levels steady and avoid those dreaded sugar highs and lows. Your future self will thank you!Move Your Body, Even on the GoSitting for long periods, whether on a plane, train, or car ride, can leave you feeling stiff and sluggish. Combat travel fatigue by stretching regularly and sneaking in movement whenever possible. A quick walk around the airport, a few yoga poses in your hotel room, or even some simple neck and shoulder stretches can do wonders for keeping your body happy.Reset Your Sleep Cycle with SunlightJet lag can be a real struggle, but one of the best ways to adjust to a new time zone quickly is by soaking up natural sunlight. As soon as you arrive, try to spend some time outside—whether it's a morning walk, a coffee on a sunny patio, or simply sitting by a window. Sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, making it easier to adjust and sleep better.Recovering After Your TripEven with the best travel wellness habits, returning home can leave you feeling a little drained. Here's how to bounce back quickly:Hydrate and replenish – Keep drinking water and use electrolytes to restore balance.Get extra rest – Allow yourself an extra hour of sleep for a few nights to recover.Move gently – Light stretching, yoga, or walking can help loosen up any stiffness.Eat nourishing foods – Focus on whole foods, lean proteins, and lots of greens to reset your body.Unwind and de-stress – Take a bath, meditate, or use deep breathing to transition back into your routine smoothly.Get a massage – A massage can help relax muscles and, the mind and circulate blood flow after an intense trip.Handling Hiccups in Your TripNo matter how well you plan, travel can throw unexpected challenges your way—missed flights, lost luggage, bad weather, or sudden illness. The key is to stay flexible and have a backup plan. Here's how to navigate travel hiccups with ease:Missed flight? Stay calm, speak to the airline immediately, and check if you can be rebooked on the next available flight.Lost luggage? File a claim as soon as possible and keep essential items like medications, chargers, and one outfit in your carry-on.Feeling unwell? Carry basic medications and supplements to help with digestion, headaches, or colds. Rest and hydrate until you feel better. Is bad weather ruining plans? Embrace the change—check out indoor attractions, try new restaurants, or enjoy some downtime to recharge.Tech troubles? Keep copies of important travel documents in your email or cloud storage so you can access them even if your phone or laptop dies.Think Positive – Always try to look on the bright side and opportunities that can come from changing travel plans. There is no point in getting flustered by things you cannot change.Balance, Not PerfectionTraveling is about experiencing new things, and that includes food, culture, and adventure! Don't stress about sticking to a rigid health routine—aim for balance instead. Walk as much as possible, opt for fresh, local foods, and prioritize rest when you need it. The goal is to feel good so you can fully enjoy your travels!Your Wellness Adventure Starts Now!With these simple, effective tips from Dr. Erin Kinney, you'll be ready to take on any adventure while feeling your best.
