POPULARITY
For the month of April, we wanted to revisit an episode we aired a couple of years back about how followers of Jesus can be good stewards of our environment and think biblically about creation care. It's not an unpopular opinion today to say that Christians aren't necessarily known to care about the environment. But in this conversation, our executive pastor Daniel Nathan and co-senior pastor Eric Pickerill sit down with Rev. Mitchell Hescox – the President Emeritus of the Evangelical Environmental Network - and hear Mitch unpack why he believes climate change and creation care is the greatest moral challenge of our time and how we can find opportunity for hope in building sustainable prosperity for all.Founded in 1993, EEN is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that equips, inspires and mobilizes people of faith to worship God and love their neighbor by caring for creation. Rev. Hescox has authored numerous books, has testified before Congress, has spoken at the White House, presented at the Vatican and the council for Foreign Relations. He's appeared on CNN, NPR, MSNBC amongst other radio and television programs. https://creationcare.org/https://www.amazon.com/Caring-Creation-Evangelicals-Climate-Environment/dp/0764218654
On the forty-fifth episode of All Heart with Paul Cardall, Paul is joined by Cathedral of the Rockies - Amity Campus pastor Benjamin Cremer, a gifted writer and teacher. Paul and Ben discuss Ben's journey to become a pastor, a brief history of Christianity and the cultural divisions in America. He believes the divisions are a result of people in the Church who abuse power, money, and a desire for control. Ben discusses authority, the Holy Spirit, and the longing believers have for community and to trust again in authority, though they've been hurt by the Church. Ben believes we need a Christian America that is Christ-like and embodies the patient, forgiving, merciful, humble fruits of the spirit. All Heart with Paul Cardall is sponsored by J.D. Netto's novel, The Broken Miracle, a 2-part fictional series with characters and real events inspired by the life of Paul Cardall, a world-renowned pianist born with only half a heart. We caught Professor Kristin Kobes Du Mez at her home on a Friday afternoon after a week of teaching American History at Calvin University. Her past month had been a blur … Continue reading Episode 110: Kristin Kobes Du Mez – “Jesus and John Wayne.”
Watch & subscribe on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx9caZXBQ3w Connect with my on IG / FB / Twitter @quintoncarlin I filmed this a while back & didn't publish it because I try to stay away from "religion & politics" but thought with the state of the world people may need some support & faith that they have the time to consider it over Easter. I think the best argument of having faith/religion/spirituality as I mentioned is looking at it like a practical business decision of having insurance: if you buy a house or car, of course, you get insurance for it, right? Then why wouldn't you protect your most valuable asset, your soul, with insurance? Even if there is any small chance that there is a heaven or hell, wouldn't you want protection to cover you to make sure you spend eternity in the good place, not the bad one? Anyway, I am not trying to preach which religion is best, I've been to multiple meditation silent retreats in Buddhist temples in Asia, I did Birthright Jewish trips to Israel, have attended mass at the Vatican in Rome. For me, after attending services at Anglican, Protestant & even Evengelical, the Roman Catholic Church is where I am @ each Sunday as it is the right fit for me, BUT you have the right to believe in any, or none. *And it's all good* I'm not here trying to convert anyone, and Lord knows I am soooo far from perfect, just sharing my perspective during this Holy Week and creating a conversation about the reality of death that is more real now that it ever has been due to this pandemic that many people have lost family / friends too. & I may lose some podcast YT subscribers that don't agree, but that is also all good. But if you do agree, feel free to share this episode with a friend. Happy Easter :) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/self-developed-life/message
