In this episode, we visit Hillsong's mothership in Baulkham Hills so you don't have to! We unpack the atmosphere, the music, the offering, the supposed miracles, the sermon and the continued exploitation of volunteers. Join us as we reflect on the evolving, yet somehow still familiar landscape of the 'new' Hillsong and its diminishing impact on those of us who have left the faith.Key takeaways:Atmosphere and Scale: Hillsong's grand scale and corporate feel can be both impressive and overwhelming, reflecting its status as a mega church.Volunteer Involvement: The church relies heavily on volunteers, highlighting the importance of community involvement in its operations.Sermon Analysis: Pastor Robert Ferguson's sermon emphasized movement and miracles, but raised questions about interpretation and relevance for exvangelicals.Cultural Diversity: The diverse congregation at Hillsong showcases the church's broad appeal and the changing demographics of modern Christianity.Community Connection: Despite the large scale, the sense of community and belonging remains a strong draw for attendees.Comparative Reflections: The visit prompted reflections on past church experiences and the evolution of evangelical practices.Emotional Responses: The service evoked a range of emotions, from nostalgia to skepticism, among those familiar with evangelical culture.Impact on Exvangelicals: The experience highlighted the ongoing influence of mega churches and their role in the faith journeys of those who have left. ---We're now on video on YouTube here.Want more? Are Churches profiting off of its members? In this epsiode, Amy is joined by Nathan Apffel and Chris Ayoub to discuss The Religion Business, a 7-part docuseries which conducts an unflinching investigation into accountability—or the lack thereof—within religious institutions , specifically mega churches in America. In this interview we discuss what was discovered through interviews with former clergy, whistleblowers, and survivors, the series exposes systemic issues: alleged misconduct, financial mismanagement, and deliberate cover-ups across denominational lines. It also delves into the complex interplay of church and state separation and tax-exempt status. We discuss some of the following questions: What if religious institutions were truly held accountable? Could that lead to transformative societal impact—by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, or saving lives wronged by injustice? and what might change if transparency were non-negotiable?*Catch This Must-Watch Docuseries : https://www.thereligionbusiness.com/purchase/AMYW36*Amy is a Christian counselor, to schedule an appointment:https://www.biblicalguidancecounseling.com*IG: eyesontherighpodcast & eyesontheright4.0---------------------------------------------------The Religion Business: https://www.instagram.com/religionbusiness/?hl=en

Brenda J and Karen W interview Nathan Appfel, two time Emmy Award winning film director who is releasing a docuseries called The Religion Business and an app called Broken Shepherds on July 10, 2025. Nathan tells his story of how he grew up attending a Megachurch in California but when he became a director and started traveling the world started to question religion and tithe. He bought the domain, The Religion Business, and started asking pastors about their salaries and where their money was going. He started at age 28, and after 12 years of no accountability or transparency, finished his 7 part docuseries and app that is about to change the world. After researching and discovering that over a trillion dollars a year is tithed to churches, he learned that less than 6% is actually going outside the walls of the church. Nathan's app rates nonprofits and churches based on transparency of their finances and salaries so donors are educated about who they are giving their money to. Is the American church asleep at the wheel—on the very edge of spiritual collapse while pretending all is well? In one of the most profound and challenging episodes yet, Catherine welcomes world-renowned evangelist Nick Vujicic to the show for a candid, no-holds-barred conversation that every Christian parent needs to hear. Born without arms or legs, Nick’s extraordinary journey from hopelessness to hope has reached over 2 billion people across 74 countries. But today, his urgent warning is not for the world, but for the American church and its families. Nick Vujicic pulls no punches, declaring: “We are asleep, we're on a ventilator… If we don't actually repent as a country, we're about to be jack hammered, dude.” This episode began in Episode 146 with intentions to discuss cancel culture and Christian values in finance but quickly transforms—through a “divine interruption”—into a prophetic wake-up call. The conversation exposes the deep divides, delusions, and complacency within the Western church, shining a light on the dire need for unity, repentance, and genuine disciple-making. Key insights and takeaways: The American church is dangerously divided, distracted by political tribalism, and often failing to address real issues like pornography, mental health, and compassion for the hurting. Nick laments the “delusional” state of believers who substitute church growth for true discipleship, warning that, “We are going to be the biggest judged country in the world because we were given the most. And look at what we've done.” Leadership accountability is critical: Many pastors are unable to address taboo topics like sexual addiction and abortion, often because they themselves are ensnared or complicit. True revival starts at home: Nick urges parents to reclaim spiritual leadership, prioritize Scripture memorization, serve the poor, and model real faith—instead of outsourcing spiritual formation to church leaders. Catherine echoes Nick’s call, sharing how a change in church “soil” radically transformed her children’s faith journey and underlining the need for churches that are both uncompromising and overflowing with love for the lost. Notable moments: Nick’s passionate critique: “If your church didn’t teach you how to preach to your neighbor in love, they failed you.” A heartfelt challenge to pastors and youth leaders: “If you actually allow one of His kids to get off the path, it’s better for you to commit suicide… That’s how sacred your job is.” Catherine’s warning: “We can’t make America great again if we don’t know what made it great in the first place… we need a deep church, not a wide church.” About Our Guest: Nick Vujicic is a world-renowned evangelist, motivational speaker, and founder of Nick V Ministries. Born without arms or legs in Australia, Nick has inspired millions across 84 countries, reaching over 2 billion people with the message of hope and Jesus Christ. After facing cancelation by his own bank for his Christian convictions, Nick co-founded ProLife Fintech to empower believers to steward their finances according to their faith. Despite being “canceled” by major corporations for his faith, Nick refuses to back down from the call to awaken and unite the church. Parents, are you awake? Are you equipping your children with a biblically grounded faith that can withstand the pressures and confusions of today’s world? Are you modeling true discipleship—or just religious activity? Tune in to this urgent, eye-opening episode and consider: What is God calling you and your family to change? And is it time to plant your family in deeper soil for the sake of your children’s faith? Rob Wegner shares his journey of spiritual renewal, which took him from megachurch leader to microchurch pioneer.
This week Granger interviews Tony Wood about the doctrines of grace, human depravity, and God’s sovereignty in salvation. Tony emphasizes that salvation is entirely the work of God—humans are spiritually dead and unable to seek Him without divine intervention. He explains how this challenges modern views of autonomy, particularly in American culture, and often stirs discomfort around the idea of God’s control over all things, including evil and salvation. Despite the tension between God’s sovereignty and human responsibility, Tony affirms that Scripture teaches both. He shares his personal journey from thinking he chose God to realizing that God had chosen him, seeing this truth consistently throughout the biblical narrative—from creation to Christ to the birth of the Church. This theological shift profoundly changed Tony’s preaching. Instead of crafting messages around felt needs or cultural trends, he now practices expositional preaching—teaching the Bible verse by verse and letting Scripture shape the message. Granger and Tony agree that true church health begins in the pulpit, where God’s Word—not style, music, or production—must remain central. They encourage believers to seek churches that faithfully and deeply preach the Bible.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this deep dive into Revelation 3:7–13, Pastors Josh Howerton, Carlos Erazo, and Tim Smith, unpack the powerful message to the church in Philadelphia—a community that stood firm through earthquakes and persecution, earning Jesus' pure commendation. They explore what it means to be a spiritual pillar in a crumbling culture, how ancient history intersects with modern mission, and why evangelism isn't just for “professional Christians.” Plus, the crew tackles common myths about megachurches and shares practical ways to live like Jesus really is returning soon. Stick around for a lively debate about Beast Games, and a moment of inspiration from a NASA believer who brought church to orbit.
