Fort Edmonton Park's DARK Halloween event has made some changes this year to accommodate the guidelines around the pandemic and the limitations imposed by the park's construction activities. As a result, much of the Halloween programming will be virtual, but there will be one, live, limited capacity event on site. Rather than its usual 12 days of events, there will be 31 days of DARK throughout the month of October. The emphasis this year is the DARK coming to guests through virtual activities rather than guests venturing into the DARK.Full Story: https://hauntedattractionnetwork.com/fort-edmonton-park-dark-halloween-2020/

This week we’re back to a musical guest on the podcast. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Luke Ertman and Jeff Ramsey. These two childhood friends are the leading members of a local band by the name of Fools Tongue. The group recently released their second studio album which is an alternative rock compilation with an epic symphonic rock feel. The three of us got a chance to discuss the band’s creation, the shifting climate of the music industry, and the challenges faced by almost all upstart bands. Luke and Jeff, along with their four other band members, Casia Erica, Josh, and Dave are preparing for their CD release party this April 28 at the Capitol Theatre in Fort Edmonton Park. Check out their website (foolstongue.ca) to hear their jams and to find a link for tickets to their show.
Fort Edmonton is a settlement that dates back to the true beginnings of Canada becoming an official country and to Alberta becoming a province. It moved many times and witnessed much history. It played a key role in history with both European settlers and the natives that lived on the land. Is this why its current location at Fort Edmonton Park seems to have unexplained activity? Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Fort Edmonton. Moment in Oddity features Legos washing up in Cornwall and This Day in History features Nellie Bly's historic trip around the world! Also included is a brief interview with Julie Rathsack of Ghosts of Grand Rapids about her personal true ghost experiences and more information on the Ada Witch. We announce our Design Contest as well and share listener mail and comments! *Special note: The last 10 minutes of the show is a bit tinny sounding. CBC Radio One is pleased to present Red Man Laughing, a special hour of indigenous comedy, music and interviews hosted by stand up comic Ryan McMahon. After 3 successful seasons of the hit podcast, the shows format was tweaked & twisted into this 1 hour National comedy special! In January 2014, Ryan invited a group of fellow aboriginal artists to join him onstage at the Capitol Theatre in Edmonton’s historic Fort Edmonton Park. The show was recorded over 2 sold out nights (honestly, we could have sold out for a week straight there was such a demand for tickets) at the historic theatre. The show aired during the 2014 National Aboriginal Day weekend. Guests include champion hand-drum singer Fawn Wood, singer/songwriter Nick Sherman, author and film-maker Richard Van Camp, and Canada Reads winning author, Joseph Boyden.
