Episode 133 Doe ID: Pam Wittman In November, 1980, a road crew doing work along I-95 in Volusia County, Florida, discovered human remains. A medical examiner concluded that the victim was a young woman, but she carried no ID. The strongest clue was a shirt she was wearing with the caption 'Do it in the dirt' on the shirt. Because local police had no missing persons cases that might be a match for the remains, her case went cold, and she was known locally as 'Jane Doe 1980' Police had little to go on but they caught a break when a serial killer named Gerald Stano was caught, and began to share details of his victims. Stano was thought to have dozens of victims in Florida, and other states. He gave details that left little doubt in the mind of investigators that he had killed this Volusia County Jane Doe. Even knowing who had murdered her, they didn't know who she was. Eventually DNA & genealogy came together once again to give this Jane Doe her name back. She was Pam Wittman. Pam from Martinsville, Indiana, had lost touch with her family after moving to Florida and taking a job as an exotic dancer, and sex worker. For years, her family wondered what happened to her. Now they know she died at the hands of a brutal serial killer who is sure to have many more victims. Stano was put to death in Florida's electric chair. After four decades, this Jane Doe has her name back; it's Pam Wittman, and this is her story. --------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Editing - Ilaria Giangrande: https://www.instagram.com/ilaria.giangrande/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Capitoli: (00:00:00) | Intro (00:01:20) | Sigla (00:01:33) | Crime & Comedy Live! Have you ever heard of serial killer Gerald Stano? For years, he sat on death row in Florida, just a few cells down from Ted Bundy. He's also believed my most sources to have killed more girls and young women than Bundy did. So why is this monster, whose first six months of his life were so brutal he was deemed "unadoptable" by the government agency that removed him from his mother's care, almost entirely unknown in the world of true crime?Merch and more: www.badmagicproductions.com Timesuck Discord! https://discord.gg/tqzH89vWant to join the Cult of the Curious PrivateFacebook Group? What kind of person confesses to multiple heinous crimes — while innocent? Gerald Stano did just that, until there was nothing left to confess to. But while there was no forensic evidence linking him to the 41 murders he implicated himself in, Stano was sentenced to death three times over. Learn more about your ad choices. Between 1969 and 1980, one man took advantage of sex workers, hitch-hikers and runaways in Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, killing 41 women, or was it 88? Was he a serial killer? Or a serial confessor? Because despite his 41 murder confessions, he was brought to trial for just one homicide—a homicide that almost twenty years after his execution had DNA evidence proving he couldn't be the killer. There are dozens and dozens of dead girls and women, lots of confessions and possibly some coercion. Short, pudgy and wearing thick glasses, he called himself the Real Italian Stallion. This was the work of Gerald Stano, a man who allegedly murdered between 30 and 41 women. April 1st: Gerald Stano Arrested (1980) Today's story, quite literally, has almost everything a fan of true crime could ask for. There's a serial killer with a troubled beginning, a survivor who brings down his decades of crime, a hero detective who spends years of his career trying to solve the seemingly unsolvable cases, and a conspiracy that he got the whole thing wrong. On April 1st 1980 a dangerous man was arrested for, what police initially believed, was only 2 crimes. But, upon getting him into the interrogation room, found out that that number was much, much higher. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Stano, https://www.jacksonville.com/news/20190119/bodies-kept-mounting-in-case-of-serial-killer-gerald-stano, https://murderpedia.org/male.S/s1/stano-gerald-eugene.htm, https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/books/my-wife-wasn-t-really-murdered-serial-killer-expert-admits-1.4253593, https://wickedwe.com/gerald-eugene-stano/
Hey, y'all and welcome to Southern Macabre! I'm Aeryn and today is Missing Persons Monday. Since it's so dang cold in most of the south, I thought we would travel down to the Sunshine State, known for its citrus, Disney World, and the Golden Girls. I'm not going in any particular order with these cases and all of their pictures will be on our Facebook page like last week. There are a lot of missing people in Florida, about 1,600. Obviously I can't talk about all of them in one episode, I wish I could. I chose eight cases where foul play is suspected and, at times, proven. Several of these cases are old, but they still have family waiting for answers. I pray that each of these, and all of the cases I couldn't cover, are solved. ----- Yessenia Ivette Suarez, twenty-eight years old, and her two children, nine-year-old Thalia Ivette and eight-year-old Michael Elijah Otto, were last seen on October 22, 2013. She had gotten into a fight with her husband, Luis Toledo, that day and took the kids to her mom's. It's assumed that her husband, Luis Toledo, murdered Yessenia, Thalia, and Elijah that night. It is known that he murdered the three of them brutally and coerced a neighbor into helping him clean up the crime scene. He attempted to blame the neighbor for the three murders, but that didn't go anywhere. He is serving a life sentence for murdering his wife and two step-children, but refuses to tell anyone where he hid their bodies. The four of them lived in Deltona, Florida, about thirty minutes north of Orlando. He may have sent a letter to a friend stating that he sent Yessenia's body to Mexico, but didn't hurt the children. However, he didn't say where he may have sent them. If you think you may know something, please call the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. (386) 254-1537 ----- On August 20, 1974, Teresa Armanda Alfonso and Cynthia Gooding were dropped off at the Marathon Movie Theater in Marathon, Florida. They had planned to hitchhike to a party, but neither of them showed up. Teresa was twelve and Cynthia was sixteen. If you think you may know something, call the Marathon County Sheriff's Office at (305) 296-2424 ----- Yalitza Garcia was last seen at work on July 2, 2009. She was twenty-four years old and lived in Deerfield Beach, in Southeastern Florida. When she didn't show up for work on July 5th, her co-workers went to her apartment where her live-in boyfriend told them she wasn't home. Her co-workers reported her missing on July 7th. Yalitza left all of her belongings in the apartment and her boyfriend used her credit and debit cards after she went missing. Yalitza was living with her boyfriend, Jason Allen, their young son, and Jason's mother. Yalitza had just deposited a $20,000 insurance settlement in her bank. Jason admitted to withdrawing $1,400 himself. When police searched the apartment, they found a large amount of her blood in one room and evidence that someone had attempted to clean it. Her boyfriend was arrested and charged with first degree murder in May 2010. He was convicted of second-degree murder in 2013. If you think you may know something, you should call Broward County Sheriff's Office at (954) 321-4268 ----- Susan Basile was only twelve years old when she was abducted by serial killer, Gerald Stano, on June 10, 1975. She had just gotten off her school bus and was walking up a long, deserted road to her house. She usually had a friend with her, but was alone this day. Gerald claimed, in 1982, that he offered her a ride to the skating rink they both frequented and she climbed into his van. Once inside, he strangled her and dumped her body. Police looked in the area, but it has been built over. If you think you know where he may have left her, please call the Port Orange Police Department at (386) 506-5894 ----- Harry Lewis Isr --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

An hour later, the teen attached a leash to her beloved pet racoon's collar and strode out of the house to take him on his daily walk. She never returned.Despite exhaustive searches involving more than 200 people, not a trace of Gail was ever found. In 1980, a desk clerk at a hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida, called the police. A woman had come in bleeding from multiple wounds. She claimed a man had attempted to kill her. Not long afterwards, the police arrested 29 year old Gerald Eugene Stano. While admitting to the assault, he soon began confessing to a series of murders dating back to the late 1960s. This is his story, the story of a self-professed ladies man who would "find a girl walking" and them murder them with callous abandon before leaving their bodies on the roadside to rot. Gerald Stano was born to a young suspected prostitute. It was believed that he was neglected as soon as he was born due to his mother needing to work. He was adopted by a great family but that wasn't enough to curtail his desire to murder. He was bullied in school and later would go on to murder up to 88 victims though not all of them have been confirmed. Its the question of nature vs nurture. Could he have been stopped? Did he murder any of them at all or what it for status? Join us for our discussion into Gerald Stano

Christian Barth is an author and attorney living in Connecticut, but hails from the lovely Garden State - New Jersey. His most recent book, The Garden State Parkway murders, is about about the unsolved murders of Susan Davis and Elizabeth Perry, which occurred on Memorial Day Weekend, 1969in Ocean City, NJ. Christian recalls his parents discussing this case while driving along the very same highway where their bodies were discovered. His curiosity around the case combined to his deep interest in the American era of the late 1960's inspired him to write this book which ended up being a nine year long journey. You will understand why when you hear our conversation. Among the many suspects in this case, Ted Bundy and Gerald Stano make an appearance, with Bundy's possible involvement being controversial to some. Though not a known serial killer, one suspect ended up being an active member of the Aryan Republican Army, and known white supremacist. This book is so rich in both context and case details, that I hope it wakes the memory of anyone still alive that might have information about the case. You can find more about Christian and his work here. You can find The Garden State Parkway Murders and his first book, The Origins of Infamy, here.
