His work led to the successful closure of the Tina Harmon case (http://www.indeonline.com/article/20081126/NEWS/311269903) in 2009. He spent months researching the Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus abductions when the girls were still missing and is haunted by the fact that he had Castro's name in his notes (http://www.cracked.com/personal-experiences-1614-i-hunt-serial-killers-6-insane-realities-my-life.html). His true crime writing has been featured in the Best American Crime Reporting anthology. His selection was the first true crime article to use a dream sequence as a narrative device. Like a nonfiction John Grisham thriller with echoes of Rainman, Just Mercy, and a captivating smalltown Southern setting, this is the fascinating true story-sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking-of an idealistic young lawyer determined to free an innocent neurodivergent man accused of murdering the wife no one knew he had. Was this small-town TV repair man "a harmless eccentric or a bizarre killer" (Atlanta Journal Constitution). For the first time, Alvin Ridley's own defense attorney reveals the inside story of his case and trial in an extraordinary tale of friendship and an idealistic young attorney's quest to clear his client's name-and, in the process, rebuild his own life. In October 1997, the town of Ringgold in northwest Georgia was shaken by reports of a murder in its midst. A dead woman was found in Alvin Ridley's house-and even more shockingly, she was the wife no one knew he had. McCracken Poston had been a state representative before he lost his bid for U.S. Congress and returned to his law career. Alvin Ridley was a local character who once sold and serviced Zenith televisions. Though reclusive and an outsider, the "Zenith Man," as Poston knew him, hardly seemed capable of murder. Alvin was a difficult client, storing evidence in a cockroach-infested suitcase, unwilling to reveal key facts to his defender. Gradually, Poston pieced together the full story behind Virginia and Alvin's curious marriage and her cause of death-which was completely overlooked by law enforcement. Calling on medical experts, testimony from Alvin himself, and a wealth of surprising evidence gleaned from Alvin's junk-strewn house, Poston presented a groundbreaking defense that allowed Alvin to return to his peculiar lifestyle, a free man. Years after his trial, Alvin was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, a revelation that sheds light on much of his lifelong personal battle-and shows how easily those who don't fit societal norms can be castigated and misunderstood. Part true crime, part courtroom drama, and full of local color, Zenith Man is also the moving story of an unexpected friendship between two very different men that changed-and perhaps saved-the lives of both.

Be The Wolf

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It's often messy, frustrating, and overwhelming.  And most people will bow out before they “succeed.” Because they don't have the entrepreneurial grit and tenacity it takes to build a business that will grow and last.  It can NOT be done perfectly. And it will be messy.  Because no matter how much you pre-plan and prepare, there will be obstacles.     The product launch you spent 40 hours a week for 6 months preparing for fails.  Your computer melts down as you're backing up your files and you lose everything for your business.  You hedged everything on the loan you didn't get, and you can't pay rent.  How you handle the inevitable obstacles will make or break your business.   So what do you do?  Do you respond like a deer in headlights and shut down? Taking forever to decide what to do next. Because you worry that every decision might be the wrong choice.  Do you come up with solutions quickly, but can't decide which one is best? And even when you do decide you second guess whether it was the right choice.  Does it feel like nothing you do ever works? And it makes you question whether you should keep going.  Perhaps you melt down and get crazy emotional, taking days to process and get over it before you can even deal with it. Or maybe you're a super quick action taker who doesn't “think it through” which causes you to go down the wrong rabbit hole a lot. And you end up having to backtrack and clean up more messes.      The reality is, that most people don't deal with obstacles well. And for most people, that's fine. Because they can tailor their life to avoid most obstacles. But as an entrepreneur, you can't do that. They are inevitable.  And your ability to handle these obstacles in a constructive way will be a MAJOR factor in the growth of your business.  Because doing it wrong affects your business exponentially as it grows. So even if poorly dealing with obstacles is not having much of an effect now, it will in the future. Unless of course, you don't want to grow your business. (Which is totally okay, it's not for everyone.)   One of the reasons I love doing my podcast (Be the Wolf: be who you were born to be) is that I get to share stories and tips about overcoming obstacles. This week I talk with True Crime Author, Pepper Anne, who had to overcome unspeakable obstacles to finish her book The Notorious Texas Swindler. She is a true example of the entrepreneurial grit and tenacity it takes to bring your gifts to the world and succeed in business.   Connect to Genea: Free Gift: The 3 Secrets to Maximize Profit and Impact (that the business gurus won't tell you) : http://ideservethisgift.com/ Website: http://geneabarnes.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/genea-barnes/ Facebook business: https://www.facebook.com/geneabarneselevate/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geneabarnes/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@geneabarnes YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/geneabarnes   Connect to Pepper Anne Website: https://www.pepperanneauthor.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PepperAnneGetsTheScoop Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/PepperAnneAuthor/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/pepper_author Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@pepperanneauthor  Bio:  Pepper Anne is a 7th generation Texan, where she and her family currently reside. Pepper Anne is a Texas based true crime author who recently wrote and published her first book, The Notorious Texas Swindler; the life and times of Bob Leach, a cattle rustler turned con man, and the mastermind behind the Grayson County Five. It is a follow up to a story that made national news in 2001 when five fugitives fled a tiny jail located in Sherman, Texas, and were on the run for four days. They were eventually captured in the rural community of St. Jo, located in Montague County, Texas, after holding a married couple hostage in their home while involved in an 8 hour shootout against law enforcement. In the middle of all the chaos, it was discovered that while Bob was rustling cattle from unsuspecting ranchers, which is what landed him in jail to begin with, his wife at the time, was in charge of their party ranch. It was a weekend getaway with ranch style amenities where she was blackmailing guests by videotaping them in uncompromising positions without their knowledge. Pepper Anne is related to Bob, they are cousins, and it has taken her 12 years to write this story. Her past experience working alongside private investigators has helped her along the way as she's had to rewrite the story 3 times, because the individuals involved hacked into her computer, but Pepper Anne refused to stop there. Pepper Anne and her family's lives were even put in jeopardy, but this only put more resolve into her work to continue writing the truth of what actually happened. Her story is very unique, because she's exposed individuals who made it blatantly clear they didn't want anyone to know their affiliation with Bob, or the crimes they committed alongside him. But through her research, she found individuals who wanted to share their story, individuals who refused to speak to others, but were willing to talk only to her. There were times when she didn't think her book would see the light of day, because of all the corruption she uncovered and the threats that were directed at her family. There were others who attempted to steal the story right out from under her, but her family and friends continued to encourage her along the way. They refused to let Pepper Anne give up. They were the driving force behind it all, because they truly believed she was the one to tell this story. Pepper Annes book covers updates to the story about Leach that was previously unrecorded as she expose cover ups of cattle rustling, money laundering, crime and bringing those people to justice. Pepper Anne shares specific details about Bob's criminal life, including his involvement during the eighties with a Texas State DPS Trooper who coaxed him into the life of crime; along with a transcribed conversation when the Trooper threatened to have Bob killed if he didn't lie on the stand. She have included information that no one else has ever uncovered about Bob's most recent crimes and the individuals who were involved in them. as she located certain documents in the court system that were hidden, or believed to have been deleted, except for a few key pieces of information that her and a few court clerks were able to find.www.pepperanneauthor.com

I thought I did pretty good on the cover and it tested well but when I started working with Jeff to upgrade the covers on my other titles, I knew I had to do Wraith. Last, Wild Blue Press still has Blood Red Ivory on sale for $2.99. If you haven't read one of my novels yet, Blood Red Ivory is a great place to start. Tonight, I'm talking to Rob Sands, Iowa's current State Auditor and true crime author. As Iowa's chief public corruption prosecutor, Rob uncovered the largest lottery rigging scheme in American history and detailed the case in his book, The Winning Ticket: Uncovering America's Biggest Lottery Scam. Both a story of small-town America and a true-crime saga about the largest lottery-rigging scheme in American history, The Winning Ticket follows the investigation all the way down the rabbit hole to uncover how one man was able to cheat the system, winning jackpots over $16 million. He went more than a decade without being caught—until Rob inherited the case. The Winning Ticket is an inside look at one of the most complicated yet seat-of-your-pants financial investigations and prosecutions in recent history. Just as remarkable as the crime are the real-life characters met along the way: an honest fireworks salesman, a hoodwinked FBI agent, a crooked Texas lawman, a shady attorney representing a Belizean trust, and, yes, Bigfoot hunters. That's correct, I said Bigfoot hunters. This was a fun interview. Deborah Sue Williamson was a newly married young woman living in Lubbock Texas on Aug. 24, 1975. One night while her husband was away at work, she was brutally stabbed 17 times in the carport of their home. Many suspects were investigated, but no one was charged. The case went cold until the mid-1980s when Henry Lee Lucas, a man notorious for admitting to murders he didn't commit confessed to her murder. It was profiled in the Netflix doc series The Confession Killer. There was only one problem. He didn't kill her. Her mother and stepfather proved Lucas didn't end Debbie's life and the case went cold once more.True Crime Author and investigative journalist George Jared teamed with his friend and former Army counterintelligence officer and university professor Jennifer Bucholtz to study the case in-depth. The two became acquainted while trying to solve the unsolved murder of Rebekah Gould. In that case they were able to lure the man, now charged with the 22-year-old woman's slaying, onto a Facebook page. Their interactions with him prior to his arrest garnered national attention. Their goal was to do the same in this case.Follow their year-long journey that took them from the mountains of Colorado to the deserts of West Texas. Their investigation led them through row crop fields of the Mississippi Delta and into the rolling Ozark hills in Missouri. The tandem was able to track down nearly every witness, person of interest, and suspect in the case.Along the way they created a massive team of citizen detectives that have brought resources to bear on a case that is now 47 years old. The team created an investigative file many times larger than the original police file. The goal was to create a web that the killer could not escape.Silent Silhouette is an in-depth look into the work that was done, complete with full interviews of every key player in this real life tragedy. One thing became clear as the investigation unfolded. This case is solvable and it's only a matter of time before this killer is behind bars. SILENT SILHOUETTE...WHO KILLED DEBORAH SUE?-George Jared
