And an electric chair that just wouldn't finish the job.Michael G. Schiller was convicted not once—but twice—for the brutal and unthinkable murder of his wife, Mary. After disemboweling her in their Youngstown, Ohio home, Schiller maintained his innocence through years of legal maneuvering, appeals, and retrials. But justice caught up with him in the end. In 1904, after two death sentences, Schiller faced the electric chair—three times—before he finally died at the Ohio State Penitentiary. A terrifying vision, a terrifying UFO encounter, and evidence of the encounter buried in his arm – if true, Tim Cullen's story could change everything we think we know about extraterrestrials.IN THIS EPISODE: Tim Cullen's life changed forever after a chilling dream in 1978. It wasn't long after that he had bizarre encounters with UFOs, was abducted by aliens, and found a strange piece of metal embedded in his arm. Were these encounters real? If so, what secrets lie within the alien implant removed from his body? (The Alien Abduction of Tim Cullen) *** The life of Martha Place took a dark turn in 1899. In January 1928, 18-year-old Wash Smith walked into a small country store in Banks County, Georgia. By the time he walked out, the store's owner was dead, and Wash was being hunted down by a posse. It is a story of an interrupted love affair and the vicious retribution by both sides that followed, while bootlegging, hidden witnesses, and recanted testimony point to something almost sinister. In the 1930s, Ohio resident Anna Marie Hahn took the gateway crime of insurance fraud down a dark path of murder. She could not help charming people, convincing them to give her money in their will (think tens of thousands– and this is Great Depression money!), and then making sure that will was in play. We also visit another Ohioan on death row, Dovie Dean, who shared Anna's method of murder but not her motivation. Hear the story of both women and decide for yourself what really happened. Eleanor Jarman was nicknamed ‘The Blonde Tigress' after a robbery-gone-wrong in 1933. She had a string of successful robberies, until the very last one devolved into murder. The papers paint her as vicious and deadly, but is that a fair portrayal of a woman trying to survive as a single mother during the Great Depression? Listen along and decide for yourself: is Eleanor a vicious murderer, a misunderstood mother, or somewhere in between?Tea of the Day: Aveda Comforting Tea Theme Music by Brad FrankFor a full list of sources, go to https://tea-time-crimes.simplecast.com/episodesSources:“In Search of the Blonde Tigress: The Untold Story of Eleanor Jarman,” by Silvia Pettem, Published by Lyons Press 2023.“Community Saddened Over Fate Of George Dale Who Goes To Electric Chair October 13.” The Democrat-News, Thu, Sep 07, 1933 ·Page 5, https://www.newspapers.com/image/687243032/“Blonde Chicago Gunwoman Is Blamed Again.” Burlington Daily News, Sat, Aug 05, 1933, Page 1, https://www.newspapers.com/image/657277072/“Seize Member of Murder Gang: Mother of 2 Sought.” Chicago Tribune, Sun, Aug 06, 1933 ·Page 2, https://www.newspapers.com/image/355093952/“Victims Identify ‘Tiger Woman' In Score Of Crimes.” Chicago Tribune, Fri, Aug 11, 1933, Page 16, https://www.newspapers.com/image/355096481/“Blonde Tigress Is Identified By 37 Victims in All.” Chicago Tribune, Sat, Aug 12, 1933, Page 3, https://www.newspapers.com/image/355096775/“State Closes Case Against ‘Blonde Tigress' and Aids.” Chicago Tribune, Wed, Aug 30, 1933, Page 2, https://www.newspapers.com/image/355107118/“Three Killers Find Death in Electric Chair.” The La Crosse Tribune, Fri, Apr 20, 1934, Page 1, https://www.newspapers.com/image/511016188/“‘Blonde Tigress,' Serving 199 Years for Murder, Flees Prison.” The Associated Press, The Baltimore Sun, Fri, Aug 09, 1940, Page 6, https://www.newspapers.com/image/374092083/“Hunt for ‘Blonde Tigress' Who Fled Reformatory Fails.” St. Joseph News-Press, Fri, Aug 09, 1940, Page 11, https://www.newspapers.com/image/559010456/“Grandson of 1940 escapee reveals name she used.” By Kate Thompson, The Sioux City Journal, Sun, Dec 11, 1994 ·Page 18, https://www.newspapers.com/image/335807547/“Active in Law at 80: Wants 10 More Yrs.” By Robert Enstad, Chicago Tribune, Sun, Jan 03, 1965 ·Page 97, https://www.newspapers.com/image/“The Blonde Tigress.” By Patricia Leeds, Chicago Tribune, Sun, Sep 16, 1951, Page 103 (7), https://www.newspapers.com/image/371724127/“The Blonde Tigress,” By Ron Grossman, Chicago Tribune, Sun, Aug 13, 2023, Page 1-14, https://www.newspapers.com/image/993395920/

IN THIS EPISODE: Tim Cullen's life changed forever after a chilling dream in 1978. Convicted of a brutal murder, Martha faced a horrifying punishment… she was about to become the first woman to be executed by the electric chair. (The First Woman in the Electric Chair) *** We'll look at a double-murder case where real crime collides with reality TV, resulting in real-life horror. (The Wife-Swap Murders) *** Steve's childhood was marked by inexplicable and spine-chilling encounters. Eerie breathing sounds, a manifestation at his bedside, being pushed down the stairs… all without a rational explanation. Even moving away wouldn't bring his paranormal tormenting to an end. (The Entity That Follows) *** The urban legend of "The Licked Hand” is a chilling tale that has been whispered around campfires and shared at sleepovers for generations, tapping into our deepest fears of invasion and vulnerability. But this isn't just any ghost story; it's a timeless warning about the dangers lurking in the darkness, waiting to infiltrate our homes and lives… and it even has a bit of truth to it. The soapboxes are out, but the hope for a bright comics future is always the same. Plus there's great recommendations and the crew tackle Marvel Comics new Punisher series! Great stuff to check out this week - The Punisher, Marvel, DC, Electric Chair 2, DUI #3, Adam Falp, Simon Russell, No Brainer, Edison Neo, Grim Scary Tales, Fuck a Duck Comix #2, Vampiress Carmilla, Homunculus, Petrol Head, Rob Williams, Pye Parr
I read from electoral to electricity. Electra has a complicated history! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electra There's so much drama in Greek Mythology! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orestes The Electra Complex isn't spoken about nearly as much as it's counterpart, the Oedipus Complex but I guess that's because there's a lot less evidence of people going through that, in some form. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electra_complex Amber can attract lightweight particles! https://www.getty.edu/publications/ambers/intro/6/ Some US states are still using the Electric Chair! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_chair The word of the episode is "electrical storm". If you're one of the thousands of people who listen to Prisoners of Rock and Roll – and shame on you if you aren't – you know we do a segment in every episode called The Electric Chair where we kill a song for being terrible. Now, there's a lot of awesome music out there. But let's face it: there's a lot of bad music too. So much bad music that this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll is volume 2 of a show totally dedicated to talking about music that sucks. We have spent hours plumbing the depths of music We also asked our awesome listeners and some of our podcast friends to submit their picks for the most cringe-inducing tracks out there and man, did they deliver. Get ready go groan and say, “oh no, not THAT song” as we plumb the depths of music hell for songs have left scars on our music souls. Yacht rock, southern rap, novelty songs, one hit wonders, dance tracks, and just plan bad music. It's all here. Parental advisory on this one rock and rollers. Having to listen to some of these songs made us pretty angry. Special shout out to Set Lusting Bruce as well as Rock and Soul Tarot podcasts for contributing to this one! This week, in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, when five people are found, slaughtered in two different homes, only doors apart, there is only one suspect. He's related to all the dead people, and he's a little strange to put it mildly. He claims to have been married at age 7, and was transformed into God. He also paints his hands blue, has a strange obsession with television sets, and stalks Olivia Newton John, because he believes she is trapped under Lake Arthur, and making his bed move, while he tries to sleep. And that's not even half of his overall crazy!Along the way, we find out that some people have it in for ladies named "Sandy", that your eyebrows probably aren't blocking oxygen to your brain, and once you're stark raving barking mad, there really is no "getting sane"!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! This week, in Grayson, Kentucky, a troubled man with a rough history, gets out of prison, finds a girlfriend, and gets wasted. He drinks, smokes, and even takes horse tranquilizers, while surrounding himself with a not very wholesome group of people. One, night, he loses his mind, and tries to cook strange foods, trashes his mother's house, and threatens to kill his brother, but ends up doing far worse, later in the night. When police look into a window, they find him, with jewelry, hanging from his pocket, and a brutally murdered corpse. But did he do it, or is he the unluckiest man, who ever lived???Along the way, we find out that Kentucky has a lot of caves, that whiskey & horse tranquilizers don't mix, and that some murders are so bad, that people feel like SOMEONE has to pay!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! This week, in Pulaski, Tennessee, twin brothers, who have been what can only be described as "strange", from a young age, end up involved in a life of crime. Their house becomes a central gathering point, and is called "The Spahn Ranch of Tennessee", as their makeshift Manson clan comes & goes. The house also becomes a center for vicious & bloody murder, including bathtub dismemberments, and backyard cremations. They get away with this, several times, until it all comes crumbling down. The scariest thing is... will they ever get out of prison??Along the way, we find out that southern Tennessee REALLY likes SunDrop soda, that rubber burns at an apparently very high temperature, and that the desire to kill, in awful ways seems to be shared by twins!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! This week, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, it's a clash of two very different lives, when a man, with a long history of bad deeds & mayhem, holds a nearly year long grudge against a supervisor, at work. Eventually, this man figures that the only way he can get back at his boss, is by killing his entire family. He even tells others about his dark desire & even tries to recruit some help. The only thing is, he swears that someone already got to the family, when he arrived, and his story of why he's covered in blood, and in possession of the murder weapons, needs to be heard to believe that someone would try to use it!! Along the way, we find out that once a company leaves town, the town shouldn't still be named after them, that some people take small slights VERY seriously, and that it's hard to deny what you've done, when the murder weapon has your name on it!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! This week, in Magnolia, Arkansas, a nice young lady, almost finished with her college degree, meets up with could definitely be considered the "bad boy". Not only is he older, but he's also been convicted of more crimes, than she could imagine, and was hiding out from a murder charge, when they found love. From there, they engage in a self described "Bonnie & Clyde" episode, leaving in their wake, many people, fighting for their lives, and one absolutely horrific, and near surgical attack, that can hardly be believed. But who did all the nasty stuff? The answer may surprise you! Along the way, we find out that Arkansas is serious about their steaks, that the person who holds the bloody knife, may be your eviscerating suspect, and that murderers should NEVER have theme songs!!
