Karl caught up with Chris Timm from Sondela Consulting. Chris has a long history in the SMB IT community. He is a former MSP owner and spent a few years at Autotask. Today Chris is a coach and thought leader around making the most of your PSA. He runs a podcast with Rayanne Buchianico at http://psaimpact.net/. Check it out! But our focus here is Chris's new book! PSA Profitability is available on Amazon and Kindle. The Amazon.com link is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1838111301/. Here Tim gives us some great advice about picking the right PSA for your business. Like many software packages, the right tool for one company is not the right tool for all companies. A good PSA with be customizable for your procedures and processes. Chris is a huge advocate of tracking all time in the PSA. But, at the same time, he says that you shouldn't buy a PSA if all you need is a ticketing system. If you need a ticketing system, go buy one. A PSA is a much bigger-picture tool. Yes, it includes a ticketing module. But it's a lot more than that. Overall, a great conversation. PART 2: SHOCKING Catholic Science Breakthrough!!!Part Two!! Brennan and Audra back up their personality profiling system (Nakane Caps) with video evidence. If you want to learn your true, scientific personality type, forget Myers Briggs. Here Tim interviews the Nakanes, who have chosen R4R as the forum for their historic unveiling: the Nakanes discovered a staggering personality profiling system based upon years of research and a Thomistic ontology. Whereas Myers Briggs and other superficial Jungian personality systems yield differing diagnoses (sometimes even if one takes the very same “diagnostic” test back to back!), Nakane CAPS proves both true and Catholic in its operation. Exposure Ninja Digital Marketing Podcast | SEO, eCommerce, Digital PR, PPC, Web design and CRO
In this episode of the Exposure Ninja Digital Marketing Podcast Tim chats with fellow Ninjas, Digital Strategy Manager, Dale Davies and Sales Manager, Ali Newton. Today's show is about the most common marketing traps businesses can fall into. Namely, the negative effect of spending too much time worrying about them. We often see that a marketer's advice is either misunderstood or taken too seriously. Perhaps leaders take such advice out of context or invest too much time into what's designed to be a quick tip. The result? Businesses often create content that's either irrelevant or disengaging. A great example of this is when businesses become too obsessed with their competitors. Most of us have either read or been told to 'keep an eye' on our competitors at some point in our business journey. After all, keeping tabs on your rivals is marketing 101. Right? Well, this handy tip ends up being detrimental to most businesses when we put too much weight on what could be a throwaway comment. At worst, this could leave clients with an unhealthy interest in monitoring their client's campaigns. In turn, this could result in neglecting your business success. Ultimately, this show is a brutal look at marketing techniques that may be wasting your valuable time. Here Tim, Dale and Ali discuss how to identify if you are engaging in time-sucking activities and what you should be doing instead. And if you're still on the fence as to whether you should listen to this episode, for fear that this might be a waste of time, here's how it made Tim feel: "I actually think that this podcast has been one of the most useful experiences of my life personally – slightly uncomfortable in places but overall very good" Enjoy! 4:48 What is the first biggest marketing waste of time? (No Focus Content) 5:40 How do people know if they are falling victim to this? (No Focus Content) 14:50 Ignoring your competitors or obsessing about them and neglecting your own marketing strategy. 19:00 How frequently should people be checking out their competitors? 20:00 Should I quit everything and focus all of my energy on my new business without testing? 23:50 How can you improve your e-commerce website's user experience? 31:30 Is selling online easy? 39:50 Are metrics trustworthy? 43:17 How important is it to follow marketing agencies advice? 52:00 Am I changing my campaign tactics too often? Building communities (Huff Post Secrets!) This was a super exciting interview on building communities (real world stories) with Tim McDonald (Former Director of Community at the Huffington Post). He set strategy and oversaw a team of moderators, with over 300 million comments and 70,000 bloggers! We discussed building communities using social media and to build that so it impacts the real world and not just the virtual world. Tim and I explain the successes that we have had on social media, I explained how I got the largest chain of bars and restaurants in the UK to buy beer from me when I used social media to connect with the buyer of the bar. Here Tim explains how he built face to face networking events and used social media to do that, from what he says in this interview you could go ahead and build a huge community online or offline or in fact both. So don’t get caught up with the wrong attitude and be yourself. People thought he did it on his own, but in fact he was the person who helped the others to make contact with each other. So building communities became an easy thing for Tim to do. We also discussed how to engage with people in the real world at networking events and what to do and not to do. Building communities and Tim's real world stories is what this interview covered and some amazing success stories from Tim. I also explain about setting expectations on social media when you meet them and how to get your community to work with you and for you to spread the words to inform the world about what you do, why you do it and why you are different and or better than anyone else. Taking the time to create the right words for people to use to spread your message pays dividends, getting others to do your job for you as a community builder, if you build a healthy community without you being the centre of attention it will go on long after you have left or gone on holiday. I discussed Richard White’s analogy of feeding others with a huge pair of chopsticks. Take the time to listen to this interview as it is extremely powerful! If you want it is about what the community wants, we need to think about what we have that they want, they usually want to have a sense of belonging! Here Tim explores the implications of "original sin" for human nature, infants, the nature of salvation, atonement, and the normal Christian life. It really is true that if you misdiagnose the problem, you prescribe the wrong cure. Short version: Jesus is more than enough for what has gone wrong with humanity in Adam, and the gospel is super-hopeful!

After a little bit of a pause, the Avenue Red engine is back up and running with a full tank of fuel, ready to churn out more mixes from underground heroes that you likely have not heard about before. This next instalment is a first for us... it took 97 episodes to bring an Aussie to Avenue Red tables, as we welcome Tim Boyd from Sydney, Australia! Here Tim basks in the sunny Sydney weather and takes inspiration from his surroundings to deliver a super hot mix of delicious, deep melodic house music from his very nice and varied record collection. "I got into dance music soon after I left high school. I'm 23 now. I took this year off after finishing Uni to put out some of my friends music on a label I've started called Black Wattle. I have two releases in the works with the first coming out around the end of September. Musically I'm inspired by DJs who play records with passion and take risks. This mix was just one afternoon in my living room in Sydney... I wanted it to be pretty laid back and make people happy and deliver pure sunshine through their speakers/headphones. Here it is, enjoy x" Tim Boyd, September 2017 https://soundcloud.com/timothy-boyd-9
