Five years ago you could hire a PPC manager for bids, budgets, keywords, campaign types and structure, and that was the whole job. Today Mike argues that a good Amazon PPC marketer is just a good Amazon marketer, and the job now reaches into what used to be somebody else's problem entirely: fees, refunds, logistics, and the one he thinks is most underrated, stock.This is the case for letting your marketing team into your inventory data, and it starts with a client who flatly did not believe it mattered. Conversion rate is a product page problem and a PPC problem, they said. So Olena on the Ad Badger team built the chart that settled it - unit session percentage plotted against warehouse balance - and the split was uncomfortable. Above one threshold the numbers held. Below it they didn't. Sales, conversion rate, Buy Box. Not out of stock. Just low.That sent Mike into inventory distortion - the combined financial drain of overstocking and stocking out, estimated to cost global retail 10 to 30% of total sales volume, and almost never mentioned alongside ACoS. He breaks the damage into four buckets: lost revenue that doesn't happen evenly (half a million Buy Box checks found roughly one in three products has at least one location with a suppressed Buy Box), rank decay, the PPC tax you pay while competitors take cheaper clicks, and capital locked up in overstock.Then the SOP. Three reports - advertised products, FBA inventory health, and detailed page sales and traffic by ASIN - dropped into Claude with a prompt, and you have a dashboard. Mike walks an anonymized $400K a month account where roughly 30% of the catalog was fully out of stock and a couple of SKUs sat on over 1,000 days of supply. Carlos almost lost the business twice. This episode is about the second time. He is joined by Ben Kotch, co-founder of AccrueMe, who has been active in e-commerce since 2018 and has looked at close to ten thousand potential investments across hundreds of seven and eight figure e-commerce businesses. Carlos opens with the story he does not tell often. Early on, a lender offered him thirty thousand dollars on the strength of his Amazon sales. He took it, sent it to China, and waited four months for inventory while the repayments started immediately. Then came the offer of sixty thousand, which felt like rescue and was actually the trap closing. He stacked it four times. What saved the company was his wife putting in personal money. Somebody told him afterward: you are really good at moving money, but not at making money. This is not an episode about businesses that deserved to fail. It is about the ones doing everything right that still go down. WHAT'S COVERED Why a ten percent fee is not a ten percent loan. Ben walks the math: borrow one hundred thousand with a ten thousand dollar fee, pay it back over six months, and you average only fifty thousand of usable capital. That is closer to a thirty or forty percent APR than to ten. E-commerce specialty lenders do not advertise APR, and there are specific reasons for that. How to compare offers apples to apples. Not the marketing page and not a screenshot from the website. The actual funding documents, run through AI, with three numbers on the table: your real APR, your average capital during the life of the loan, and your monthly payments. The red flags, in order. Anyone who opens with "we help businesses like yours" has done no research on you. Anyone industry agnostic who wants your car and your house regardless of credit. And the one most sellers read as a feature: if it is extremely easy to get, you are paying for that convenience. Why the cheap money is expensive. Lenders writing ten and thirty thousand dollar loans carry heavy defaults, so the good operators subsidize the bad ones through higher rates across the whole book. AccrueMe moved its minimum from ten thousand to one hundred thousand for exactly this reason. The reason type that predicts failure. Sellers who want capital to scale what already works tend to be fine. Sellers who want to take an eight figure baby sock business into gourmet honey do not. Carlos gets honest about being a thousand things guy, and the coaching line that reframed it: you do not split your attention evenly, you pour it all into whatever is struggling most. Why the fee is not the real problem. The cash flow is. You borrow because cash is tight, and by day two the repayment schedule has made it tighter than before you borrowed. The Tang Museum at Skidmore College is presenting "Mark Thomas Gibson: We Are a Constellation," a survey of Gibson's recent considerations of US history and the relationship between our past and our present. The exhibition was curated by Ian Berry in collaboration with the artist and is on view through January 3, 2027. Gibson's work is also featured in  "The Crossing: Picturing the American Revolution" at the Michener Art Museum, Doylestown, Penn. "The Crossing" looks at how artists have represented Continental Army commander-in-chief George Washington's crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night, 1776. "The Crossing" is particularly interested in how artists have built on and often 'refuted' Emanuel Leutze's famed 1851 Washington Crossing the Delaware, which is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The exhibition, which was curated by Laura Igoe, is up through January 10, 2027. An exhibition of Gibson's recent work opens at Philadelphia's Fleisher/Ollman Gallery tomorrow, and remains on view through November 7. Among the institutions that have presented solo shows of Gibson's work are the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Library Company of Philadelphia, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. Colman is the curator of "Georgia O'Keeffe: Architecture" at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Across about 35 paintings, the exhibition examines O'Keeffe's career-long interest in buildings and the built environment. It's on view through January 3, 2007. A West Texas cowboy saying advises: “Never sign nothing by neon.”But that's exactly the key operational method of the AI data center hucksters who're foisting their exploitative, multibillion-dollar scams on local folks all across America. Corporate slicks for outfits like Amazon, Meta, Open AI, and Google are slithering through the countryside, luring locals to surrender land, water, electric power, and democratic rights to profiteering billionaires who promise pie-in-the-sky prosperity.The deals are typically cut in the dim light of secret meetings, where corporate lawyers whisper to bedazzled local officials: “Just sign here, cowboy.” The key to this mass deception is a legalistic corporate contrivance called an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). It allows data center owners and a small group of insiders to “negotiate” a raw deal for area residents by hiding essential details from the public. Details like: Who pays, how much, who profits, what are the side effects, who's responsible for damages… and why the hell is this room so dark?These NDAs even have corporate code names like “Project Lightning.” What's the rush? As one opponent of a Louisiana rush job said, “We live here. We want to know how it impacts us.” The inside schemers pushing that deal clucked sympathetically, winked at each other, then assured bothersome locals that “an independent study” had shown the proposed data center would cause no harm. Maybe… but the profiteers then said the study itself could not be released for public review. Why? Because the developer had covered it with an NDA.Government by corporate-imposed secrecy is totalitarianism. What if your hand pain, numbness, weakness, or grip problems aren't actually coming from your hand or wrist? Orthopedic hand surgeon William Ericson, MD, joins Dr. Linda Bluestein to explain why people with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility may experience overlooked median nerve entrapment near the elbow, carpal tunnel-like symptoms, thumb arthritis, and thoracic outlet syndrome—even when standard imaging or nerve testing doesn't reveal the answer. Dr. Ericson, co-author of the 2017 American Journal of Medical Genetics article on orthopedic management of the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, shares what he has learned from more than three decades of treating patients with complex upper-extremity symptoms. Why can someone have significant hand pain, weakness, numbness, tingling, or loss of grip strength even when imaging or standard nerve testing looks normal? Dr. Ericson describes a pattern of proximal median nerve entrapment near the elbow that he believes is extremely common in people with EDS and may frequently be mistaken for carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, or unexplained pain. He explains how median nerve dysfunction can change the way the hand pinches and grips, potentially placing excessive stress on the thumb and contributing to thumb arthritis over time. He also discusses whether identifying and treating the underlying nerve problem could help reduce that risk. The conversation expands beyond the hand and wrist to the relationship between hypermobility, shoulder instability, scapular protraction, and thoracic outlet syndrome. Dr. Ericson explains why improving shoulder and scapular mechanics may sometimes be more important than operating directly on the thoracic outlet. You'll also hear an important discussion about cortisone injections in EDS and hypermobility, including why injections may be appropriate for true tendon inflammation but potentially problematic when the underlying issue is joint instability. Just as importantly, Dr. Ericson explains why he evaluates the whole person before recommending surgery—including posture, shoulder mechanics, thoracic outlet involvement, stress, and mental health—and why persistent symptoms after surgery may sometimes reflect an unrecognized problem farther upstream. The episode closes with advice for anyone living with symptoms that have been difficult to explain: a good clinician does not have to know everything.
