Get ready for one fun episode... Tressa has the delight of sitting down for a chat - and a lot of laughter - with Pittsburgh legends Larry Richert and Jim Krenn. They talk community, role models, doing good, yinzers, movies, Bruno Sammartino and more... Larry and Jim, along with Dan Marino (yes, that Dan Marino), Doug Mariani, and Dick Roberts, are the owners of a new food truck in the 'burgh: Yinzer Dogs. But they're not just serving up hot dogs--they've got some amazing sammiches, bit-sized pierogies, and more...AND a portion of all of their proceeds go to local charities. Larry Richert is the "The Voice of Pittsburgh". He has hosted the KDKA Radio Morning News since 2001, is the voice of NFL Films/Steelers Highlights, the Public Address announcer at Acrisure Stadium for the Steelers, and he's part of the Pitt Panthers Football network broadcast team. Larry has long been an ambassador for the city of Pittsburgh and was winner of the Vector's Richard Caliguiri Award for that reason. Jimmy Krenn rose from the ranks of stand-up comedians to become Pittsburgh's premier comedian and broadcast personality, known for his 24-year run as host of the city's top-rated morning show on 102.5 WDVE FM and for hosting his very own morning radio show on Q92.9FM. He has been voted the Top Entertainer in the City by Pittsburgh Magazine 14 times and was nominated by BILLBOARD Magazine as one of the Major Market Personalities of the Year. He makes frequent television appearances, does several standing-room-only concert performances yearly and has performed with the likes of Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Dennis Miller, and Jerry Seinfeld. https://www.yinzerdogs.com/ Animal Friends: https://www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org/ Spenser's Voice: https://pittsburghfoundation.org/spenser-fund Phase 4 Learning: https://www.phase4learningcenter.org/ ICYMI: https://people.com/usps-carrier-drives-379-miles-on-own-dime-deliver-lost-world-war-ii-letters-8641868 https://www.yinzaregood.com/ Instagram: @yinzaregood Facebook: @YinzAreGood Have a story of GENEROSITY or KINDNESS to share with us? Morrison Foerster partners Kate Driscoll and Nate Mendell, both former federal prosecutors in the firm's Investigations + White Collar Defense Group, host the first episode of their new podcast titled When Your Life Sciences Are on the Line, where leading practitioners and thought leaders in the life sciences sector share the insights and advice you need to manage business and legal risk when your life sciences are on the line. In this episode, Kate and Nate spoke with Jim Krenn, a partner in Morrison Foerster's Emerging Companies + Venture Capital and Mergers + Acquisitions Practice Groups, about how emerging and established life sciences companies can build and preserve value by protecting their most valuable asset: their trade secrets. Listen in for strategies for emerging and established companies looking to position themselves for growth, for acquisition, and for going public. What are the right steps to take now that technology allows for more sophisticated and less detectable trade secrets theft? What is the value proposition of implementing protections, and what do investors expect now that cyberattacks are prevalent? Topics of discussion also include strategies for scaling compliance programs and data security practices throughout a company's lifecycle, and preferred strategies for testing existing policies and systems to identify vulnerabilities.
What better book to talk about on this show than one called Growing Up Yinzer: Memories from Beloved Pittsburghers? Tressa sits down for a fun and fabulous chat with author Dick Roberts, illustrator Rob Rogers, and comedian/actor/Pittsburgh personality Jim Krenn, who is one of the yinzers featured in the book. About the book: Pittsburgh's undeniable impact on the character and life of those who grew up there has shaped iconic figures of American sports, entertainment and culture. Legends of the gridiron such as Jim Kelly, Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino and Joe Namath forged their football prowess in Western Pennsylvania. Business pioneers including Mark Cuban, Ray Werner and Bill Strickland were ingrained with the value of hard work in the Steel City. Music and movie stars like Jeff Goldblum, George Benson and Billy Gardell found creative inspiration in Pittsburgh that led to new heights. Jim Krenn No Restrictions Episode #220 by Jim Krenn
Jim Krenn is the creator and co-host of the successful “No Restrictions” podcast, now produced by the team at the Pittsburgh Current. He has stayed local to his hometown of Pittsburgh and still remained successful in his entertainment career, which now spans more than 30 years. Jim Krenn will always be a comedian -- many Pittsburghers think of him as the personality that put the WDVE morning show on the map, others as the backbone of Nickelodeon's cult hit “Action League Now!” This week, Jim comes into the Epicast Studios to talk with Scot MacTaggart about his many innovative and entrepreneurial reinventions - from his new “Yinzer” line of cards and candy to a brand-new live show in December that will feature him doing musical impressions - and the mindset that he uses to stay grounded so he can succeed.
