May 23, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 137 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes the team signing rookie DT Derrick Harmon, the team's first round draft selection this year, to his rookie contract. Alex and I discuss the Steelers signing G Nick Broeker this week and the signing bonuses the team gave to their 10 undrafted free agents as well. Steelers president Art Rooney II recently made a small comment about the team waiting a little longer to get a decision from veteran free agent QB Aaron Rodgers, so we make sure to parse that. We also discuss a little quote from Rodgers during a recent long interview he had with Joe Rogan. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay passed away a few days ago so we pay our respects to him during this show. The Tush Push is now staying around for at least one more season, so Alex and I discuss that news and the league's recent vote on possibly banning it. We discuss how that play impacts the Steelers moving forward into 2025 and if they should practice it and utilize it more. With Harmon now signed, I pass along a Steelers 2025 salary update and what it might mean for the team moving forward into the offseason. Alex and I also have an extraordinarily long discussion about where the Steelers now sit currently from a cash spending perspective for 2025. We talk about how the team should be expected to spend around $40 million more in cash this offseason and why. Alex and I also talk about how the Steelers have drafted as of late and the impact that has on their cash spending for this three-year phase, which ends in 2026. This 117-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. Tune in here to this Wednesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! We’re joined by Ambassador Francis Rooney, former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, to talk about the new papacy of Pope Leo and the evolving role of the Catholic Church in today’s world. Ambassador Rooney shares personal insights from his 25-year relationship with Pope Leo—formerly Father Bob—highlighting the Pope's experience, character, and potential to reconnect younger generations with faith. The conversation covers the global decline in religious participation, especially in the secular West, and the Church’s challenge in Latin America, where evangelical Christianity is rapidly growing. Rooney critiques liberation theology’s historic alignment with Marxist ideology and emphasizes the importance of a faith that nurtures individual aspirations and economic progress. He also expresses hope that Pope Leo’s calm, measured demeanor will strengthen the Church’s ability to build bridges, advocate for peace, and support global diplomacy. Rooney’s book The Global Vatican remains a relevant resource on U.S.-Vatican relations. Listen here for all of this and more on The Brett Winterble Show! May 15, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 134 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Thursday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 season schedule that was made official on Wednesday night. We go over the team's preseason schedule and then follow that up with a deep dive of their regular season schedule by game. Alex and I go over the early string of quarterbacks the Steelers will face in their first five games and the defensive mindedness of each of those first five opponents as well. The Steelers will close their 2025 regular season with a tough stretch of six games, so we compare that final gauntlet to the one the team had in 2024. Steelers team president Art Rooney II commented on the team's schedule after it was released on Wednesday, so we recap what all he had to say concerning that topic. We also discuss Rooney saying the team will have a new throwback jersey in 2025 in addition to a new helmet for at least one game. After wrapping up some concluding thoughts on the Steelers' 2025 schedule, we talk briefly about what the team's travel schedule to Ireland in Week Four might look like. We also go over some early odds and spreads related to the Steelers 2025 schedule in this show. We also go over a few schedule reaction videos from around the NFL. Alex and I recap some news from the AFC North that we have yet to cover. We also discuss if we think that Jon Gruden will return to the NFL as a head coach in 2026. At the end of this show, Alex and I have a nice debate concerning Steelers QB Will Howard and where he should be considered a lock to make the 53-man roster later this summer. This 86-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly from The Pat McAfee Show joined the show. Where does Mark zero-out on Mike Tomlin entering his 19th season? Mark applauded the Steelers a bit for ‘rebuilding' seasons still netting them 8 to 9 wins per season. Mark thinks the next couple of years have to lead to ‘significant' runs. Mark thinks Art Rooney is a future HOFer and would be the deciding factor in ending things with Tomlin down the road, not Tomlin making the choice himself. Mark said Rooney has been a major factor in pushing the Steelers to a more digital age. Chris and Mark talked about some of the lack of on-field evolution from Tomlin and the Steelers in recent years. More w/ Mark – Mark defended his stance on why he thinks Art Rooney II will eventually be a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The draft became the discussion point and what the Steelers did following the Derrick Harmon selection. How much different will Kaleb Johnson be in the backfield opposed to Najee Harris? Mark mentioned something Arthur Smith said about Najee last week. Chris asked Mark about the Steelers going with an edge rusher in Jack Sawyer in the 4th round. Was Shedeur Sanders on the Steelers draft board, or was he on it at all? Mark wants people to slow the roll with Will Howard becoming a star. At pick 185, it's fine if Howard is a long-term backup that doesn't get a ton of snaps during the offseason. More w/ Mark – Power Rankings.

April 2, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing what all Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II had to say on Tuesday during his media session at the NFL's owners' meetings in Florida. Rooney talked about where things currently sit with the team's pursuit of free agent QB Aaron Rodgers, the recent rule proposals that were voted on, and how he feels the team has done in free agency to date. We discuss several of those topics he commented on and more. The NFL's official records will finally incorporate All-America Football Conference statistics moving forward so Alex and I briefly discuss that bit of news to come out on Tuesday. Will the Steelers do anything with K Chris Boswell this offseason when it comes to his 2025 contract year? Alex and I attempt to answer that question and what things the Steelers might do should they decide to give Boswell more money in 2025. With the 2025 NFL Draft taking place later this month, Alex and I start to have more nuanced talks about the position groups. During this Wednesday show, Alex and I discuss the 2025 wide receiver draft class as it relates to the more prominent players. Moving on, we talk about where the Steelers might select a wide receiver in this year's draft, the type of wide receiver they might draft, and much more. We also discuss a few more wide receivers in this year's draft class we will be efforting to learn more about this next week. Later in this episode, Alex and I numerically rate the need at every position when it comes to the Steelers and the 2025 NFL Draft. It's a fun little exercise overall. This 135-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We end this show by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

How long should Rooney, general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin wait before moving on from Rodgers, either for internal candidate Mason Rudolph or external options like Joe Flacco, Drew Lock and Carson Wentz? And what does Paul think of some of the rule changes Rooney is voting for at the NFL owners meeting? Is there a deal done? It's a tricky day to follow news, but Art Rooney told reporters that he feels like things are going in the ‘right direction' with Aaron Rodgers. Saying that broke a longtime rule of the Rooney family – talking about a player that isn't on the roster. How much longer will this go? Art Rooney said the Steelers were one of the teams that voted to ban the ‘tush push.' We then took some calls on the Steelers love affair with Aaron Rodgers. Baseball prospect writer Keith Law from The Athletic joined the show. Keith doesn't think Thomas Harrington, who is making his MLB debut tonight, is a Top 100 prospect on his board. He said Harrington does locate his pitches very well, but doesn't have a strong out-pitch. Keith thinks Harrington could be a #4 starter this year. Keith talked about what Harrington can do to become a better arm at the Major League level. The Pirates also made a trade last night with the Mets – acquiring Alexander Canario, who has shown minor league power in his career so far. Keith likes the move because their system lacks power and pop. Keith said the bar is pretty low for the Pirates, which means Canario is the perfect type of guy the organization should be picking up. Keith had a few remarks about Konnor Griffin, the Pirates 1st round pick from last season. Keith got into some of the issues the Pirates have had taking chances on guys that don't mesh with what they can develop.
