In this week’s episode, I had the great honor of speaking with the incredibly talented and peaceful Liz Snyder. Liz is an E-RYT and Baptiste Certified Yoga Instructor in NJ. I met Liz when I joined her yoga studio, Home Power Yoga (which she co-owns with her sister Katie Tierney), located in Cranford, NJ. I immediately felt “at home” in their presence and with their community. That heated room is magical at Home Power Yoga! Liz brings her passion for yoga, along with her innate strength as an athlete to her yoga practice and her teachings. Liz brings energy and vibrance to the room each and every time she teaches. Even after being diagnosed with Lyme’s Disease and wondering on many days if she could physically make it to the studio and show up for her business partner, her employees, and her community, Liz found a way to show up for her business and her community powered by the strength and love of her family and community. Liz truly embodies what it means to dig deep for strength and the energy to keep showing up for herself and others. To know Liz is to love her and her fun, energetic, smiling self! Grab your favorite beverage and get ready for the magic of Liz Snyder!!! Liz Snyder (E-RYT 500 hr) is a NJ-based 1,200 Hour Certified Baptiste Influencer, with over 1,500 hours of training. She graduated from Franklin and Marshall College as a Business & Psychology major, & captain of the Women's Basketball Team. She found Baptiste Yoga her freshman year, & continued to practice as a way to support her sports career & busy school-work schedule. The first summer out of college, she did her first Baptiste Yoga training and fell in love with teaching. Since then, she has trained in different styles of yoga but ultimately decided that Baptiste Yoga was her true passion.  She completed Baron Baptiste's level 1, level 2, & level 3 week-long pieces of training, as well as Art of Assisting & Advanced Art of Assisting. She graduated from the Baptiste Fit to Lead year-long training program held in Utah, a training that is designed to teach teachers how to lead Baptiste-inspired trainings & is led by Baron Baptiste. She also taught and trained at the only Baptiste affiliate in NYC, Lyons Den Power Yoga.  She is committed to training teachers in the Baptiste methodology. She has led three 200-hour teacher training at HOME & has assisted many teacher training led by Paige Elenson & Baron Baptiste.  She is passionate about service & making yoga accessible for all people. In 2016, she traveled to Kenya, where she volunteered to assist a Baptiste teacher training to benefit Africa Yoga Project. AYP is a non-profit organization dedicated to training yoga teachers in Africa to teach free yoga classes throughout the country. She has raised and personally donated thousands of dollars to AYP & spent over a year mentoring a yoga teacher from Sierra Leone.  She teaches a challenging & accessible class, focused on increasing strength, flexibility, & possibility. Her intention is to use Baptiste Yoga to inspire real transformation in peoples’ yoga practice, in their lives, & in the world!  -- https://www.homepoweryoganj.com/  https://www.instagram.com/homepoweryoga/  https://www.instagram.com/elizabethsnyder_/ https://www.facebook.com/elizabeth.snyder.9461

"I’ve had moments of exhaustion. I’ve had moments of frustration. I’ve had an overhaul across the board, personally and professionally. This year has been a rinse. If I was naming this chapter, it’s ‘Let it burn and reset.’ And instead of fighting all these things that are literally burning or closing down or going away or having an ‘I’m so over this attitude,’ I’ve tried to embrace every letdown, every frustration, everything that’s popped up."   Welcome back to Feel-Good Fridays on the Ali on the Run Show! This time around, we're getting a series of pep talks from the people who are living, breathing pep talks every day of their lives: professional fitness instructors. First up, Bethany Lyons, owner of Lyons Den Power Yoga in New York City and creator of the newly launched Lyons Den Digital platform, talks about how, in spite of what has in many ways been the worst year ever, is thriving. In February, one of Bethany's two studio locations burned down in a fire. In March, she had to close the other location due to the pandemic. Now, in October, both are still closed. Here, Bethany explains how she's pivoted, how she's found the humor in it all, and how she's managed to have a whole lot of fun along the way. She offers advice for staying present, and hands out some tools for how we can all be our best selves today — even if it feels like the world is burning.   Thank you to Goodr for sponsoring this series on the Ali on the Run Show! Bethany Lyons is the owner, founder, and CEO of Lyons Den Power Yoga in New York City. Before opening the Baptiste yoga-style studio, she was the first-ever hired instructor at SoulCycle, and was a regional manager in charge of the group fitness programs at Crunch Fitness — which is where we met! (We share the story of our first interaction in the episode — it involves Bethany being the spin class sub and me being pissed.) Bethany has been a fitness instructor for more than a decade, and before that she was a professional dancer, singer, and actress. Today, Bethany is all about showing up, doing the work, and “being a yes.” On this episode, she shares the story of how she accidentally learned to love yoga (happens to all of us that way, doesn’t it?), how and why she decided to open her own studio — in the most expensive neighborhood in the most expensive city in the world — and whether or not she was worried no one would show up the day the studio opened.
