Scheduled to debut in April 2023, the Viking Saturn will spend her maiden season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and in Northern Europe. The traditional float out ceremony took place at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard and is significant because it denotes a ship moving into its final stage of construction. The float out of the Viking Saturn began at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time when the Viking team cut a cord that signalled water to flow into the ship's building dock. Following a two-day process that will set the Viking Saturn afloat, she will then be moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior build-out.Viking Saturn – Viking's ocean vessels have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, with 465 staterooms that can host 930 guests. The Viking Saturn will join the award-winning fleet of identical sister ships, which includes Viking Star, Viking Sea, Viking Sky, Viking Orion, Viking Jupiter, Viking Venus and Viking Mars. The Viking Neptune will be delivered in late 2022.Its Official – Authentic Gelato Experience at SeaItalian Chamber of Commerce Certifies Gelato Experience On Board Princess Ships as First to Offer the Authentic Confection Outside ItalyWith the start of summer, scooping up one of Italy's most famous desserts from Gelato onboard Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess just got a little sweeter. The Princess Cruises gelato shops have been designated as Ospitalità Italiana, and are the first and only locations to offer an authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy. The prestigious Ospitalità Italiana designation is issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce committee, an organisation of the Italian government, and confirms that every step of the gelato-making process meets or exceeds a strict set of standards as approved by official Italian auditors and experts, who review the process on a yearly basis. Only gelato shops that attain outstanding quality status are awarded the official Ospitalità Italiana certification.Princess Cruises handcrafts its fresh gelato with Italian-certified ingredients and equipment each day in the pastry kitchens onboard the cruise line's three newest ships – Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess. Corporate pastry chef Eric Le Rouzic trained with the best Italian chefs at the Gelato Carpigiani University in Bologna and the Gelato Comprital Atheneum in Milano to master the art of making this heaven in a bowl. Princess uses top-of-line gelato machines by renowned manufacturer Carpigiani and the Gelato display cases were produced in Italy by expert craftsmen.Fun Fact – Gelato Isn't Ice CreamAccording to legend, the recipe for Gelato was popularised when architect Bernardo Buontalenti was asked to create a special confection for a member of the Medici noble family in the 16th century. Buontalenti mixed milk, eggs, sugar and extracts in a special machine surrounded by ice and salt, and egg cream-based gelato was born. While it's creamy, gelato has less butter fat and fewer calories. The authentic Italian ingredients are combined with Princess' freshly sourced fruit and is made each day with milk, not requiring the extra fat from cream that is needed in ice cream for a longer shelf life. As a result, a scoop of gelato is 80-100 calories and the sorbet or “fruit gelato” has no fat and is only 50-60 calories, with no dairy.Christening Ceremony in Barcelona for Costa ToscanaCosta Cruises celebrates in the port of Barcelona the christening ceremony of Costa Toscana, the newest Italian-flagged ship in the Costa Cruises fleet, that leads to the discovery of “the art of living the sea”.Godmother of Costa Toscana is Chanel, a young singer, actress and dancer who enjoyed great success in Spain and in all Europe after her exhibition during the 2022 Eurovison Song Contest. Fletcher Christian didn't want to leave it and mutinied (on the HMS Bounty) to stay there. Remote, tropical, romantic, and beautiful – it's one of the world's most aspirational places to visit: The Islands of Tahiti, otherwise known as French Polynesia. The Islands of Tahiti are best accessed via small ship – allowing effortless travel amongst some of French Polynesia's most storied and iconic 121 islands and atolls. Small ship cruise line Windstar Cruises simply knows it best, having sailed the longest of any operator in the region and celebrating 35 years of Tahitian sailings in 2022. It's also the only destination where the U.S.-based cruise line sails year-round, giving guests ample opportunity to plan a once-in-a-lifetime visit in any season. This October, there's double the chance. The 148-guest Wind Spirit, complete with sails built for the breezes of the South Pacific, is sailing around the Islands of Tahiti now, but in October, Windstar will move the all-suite, 312-guest Star Breeze to the region, increasing capacity with two yacht options to choose from. All-suite Star Breeze features newly transformed guest suites, two new restaurants, a new World Spa, an infinity pool, and more. Although without sails, Star Breeze is ideal for accessing the shallow lagoons that helped make the destination famous. Both Wind Spirit and Star Breeze feature Windstar's signature sports platform, opening up right off the back deck into crystal clear waters perfect for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding . In February 2024, Star Breeze will move to Tahiti year-round in place of Wind Spirit.A-ROSA SENA completes maiden voyageOn 18 June 2022, the A-ROSA SENA departed from Cologne for her maiden voyage with her first guests on board. Prior to this, the ship was blessed in Düsseldorf by Deacon Michael Inden, as well as christened by Clara Eichler, daughter of A-ROSA CEO Jörg Eichler, in the presence of the management, the investors and the crew. Due to supply challenges, the first cruise started slightly later than initially planned, which meant that this ceremony took place in a small circle only. Thanks to the hybrid propulsion system, the first departure was accomplished with the help of electrical energy from the battery storage.Guests and crew were excited about the sustainable new ship: “A-ROSA SENA's design is truly unique on the river. Together with the spacious interior layout, she offers a completely new travel experience”, comments hotel manager Dennis Brenner. Captain Ulrich Schwalbe adds: “Thanks to the hybrid propulsion system and the exhaust gas purification filter, you don't notice any emissions on board and can just enjoy the pure cruising experience.” The E-Motion Ship recently received the “German Award for Sustainability Projects 2022” for her environmentally friendly technologies.Throughout the summer, the A-ROSA SENA offers 7-night voyages from Cologne via Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Antwerp. Brennen and I grind these episodes out week after week but we burned ourselves out as a result. Our content that we were recording became a message for us and to us, in many ways. We have no one else helping us [yet] and so decided that in order to maintain our creative energy and keep the momentum going on the podcast, we needed to back off how much content we are producing. This was a difficult decision for us, but in doing this we will be able to book bigger and more influential guests and bring even higher quality content to you all without feeling like we are on the treadmill from hell. Thanks for understanding and we appreciate your support and listenership! Happy 2020! Here’s to Getting Unstuck, Cynthia & Brennen

Executive, activist, and entrepreneur, Sarah Robb O’Hagan has been described by the media as everything from “Superwoman undercover” to the “Pied Piper of Potential.” She is a high-energy combination of disruptive business leader, fitness fanatic, and cheerleading mom, and has been named one of Forbes’ “Most Powerful Women in Sports” and one of Fast Company’s “Most Creative People in Business.” As Chief Executive Officer of the fast growing indoor cycling company Flywheel Sports, she is currently leading the transformation of the business through digital content and services. Prior to this role, Sarah became an internationally recognized re-inventor of brands, having served as global president of the $5Bn sports brand Gatorade, where she successfully led the business through a major repositioning and business turnaround, and global president of the luxury fitness company Equinox, where she reinvented the offering through a significant technology transformation. She recently released her new book, Extreme You: Step Up. Stand Out. Kick Ass. Repeat. Favorite Success Quote “Without risk does not come great reward.” Sarah’s Dad Key Points 1. Learn to Focus on What You Are Doing Now Tell me if this has ever happened to you before? You are at work, hustling away on a project that is fun and exciting, but for some reason, you cannot stop thinking about what’s happening at home with your wife or girlfriend. Or you are out on a date with your significant other and, instead of giving them your full attention, you are answering work emails when you are supposed to be connecting and sharing a special moment. Why the hell is it that we are always thinking about, and focused on everything except for what we are doing right now? Happiness and success are found when you are able to be completely present in whatever you are doing. When you are 100% focused on your work, you will be able to solve problems, pivot, and accomplish your tasks with greater speed and efficiency. Meaning that later in the day, you have the mental bandwidth to focus in on your family and friends 100%. The more present and focused you can be in one area, the more focus and presence you will be able to bring to the other areas of your life. 2. The Foundation of Success is Self-Care One of the most underrated and least talked about subjects in the world of entrepreneurship is self-care. Everyone gets so focused in on the hustle, they get so focused in on grinding it out and being “obsessed” that they forget to take care of #1. But let me ask you a question… How much money are you going to make if you are constantly in and out of the hospital with stress-related illnesses? How effective will you be if you are constantly drained, lethargic, and fatigued? How successful do you think you will really be if you are not taking care of yourself? You won’t! Success without self-care is unsustainable and ultimately unfulfilling. You must learn to take care of yourself, especially your mental and physical health first and focus on your business second. Make time every single day to get some form of exercise. Give yourself those extra 10-15 minutes to meditate and clear your headspace. Give yourself permission to relax at the end of a long day with a hot bath and some calm music. If you are not taking care of yourself and your body, you will eventually burn out and fail. Period. 3. You Cannot Take Things too Seriously Look… Life is short. So why the hell would you waste one second of your life in an unhappy or depressed state? Have fun for God’s sake! Learn to laugh at yourself, laugh at your work, laugh at your success, laugh at your failure, because, at the end of the day, we are all dead anyways, so we might as well enjoy the journey and have a few laughs along the way. Life isn’t meant to be a constant stress-fest. It’s meant to be enjoyed with people that you like, doing things that you love. And guess what? In every moment, you have the choice to enjoy your life, to have a great time, and to laugh through the hardships or to succumb to the pain and the suffering and allow outside circumstances to dictate your attitude. You have a choice to enjoy life even when it’s hard. You have a choice to let go of your ego, stop taking things so damn seriously, and enjoy the ride. So will you? 4. Stop Going Half Way Because of the pressure that many millennials feel from the older generations, a large majority of the young people in Western society are making the grave mistake of building “partial bridges” for the sake of their resume. What do I mean? Well, think about it. Most 18-35-year-olds will change jobs every 2-4 years. Instead of finding something that they are really passionate about, going all the way and becoming great, they go halfway. They hop from position to position trying to build their resume and “experience” when all that they really accomplish is becoming ok at a bunch of unrelated crap. If you really want to become great, then you need to go all the way. Build your bridges fully. Commit to one skill, one position, one person and don’t back out when things get tough. Stick it out and become an expert at your craft. Because when you do, the rewards will be great. 5. Passion is Made Not Found One of the most “bass akwards” beliefs in the 21st century is that you need to find your passion. In reality, you must make your passions. Passions aren’t something that you find like a dollar bill on the street. They are the result of commitment, persistence, and breakthroughs. How many of you reading this are passionate about music? Now… How many of you picked up a guitar for the first time, tried to strum a C chord, sounded terrible and thought to yourself “Yes! I am passionate about this!”? Not many. Chances are, you picked up the guitar and you sucked for a long time. But you stuck with it. Maybe you wanted to impress that girl or show off that Pearl Jam song to your friends. But for whatever reason, you stuck with it, and eventually, it became an addiction. You loved the way that learning new songs and techniques made you feel, you loved the reaction on people’s faces when you started playing their favorite songs, and you loved the feeling of getting into flow while soloing. And now… It’s a passion. And that’s how most passions are born. You don’t know what your passions are until you stick with something long enough to enjoy and understand it. So realize that you make your passions. And the better you become at a skill the more passionate you will be about it.
When SoulCycle co-founder Ruth Zukerman abruptly left her groundbreaking boutique fitness company, the question became whether she could strike gold a second time with a similar spin class concept called Flywheel Sports. But then the challenge doubled when Peloton entered the market with a radical new at-home fitness option. Zukerman describes the early days of boutique fitness and how her continued emphasis on the customer experience paid off for Flywheel. Stacey Artandi Seldin explains the integral role technology played in that success. Matt O'Connor outlines Flywheel's adoption of the latest trend: at-home streaming fitness classes. And fitness industry analyst Dana Macke provides an overview of how fitness has moved from big box gyms, to boutique studios, to interactive classes in our homes, and what lies beyond.

Our guest today is Ruth Zukerman, who was one of the original Co-Founders of SoulCycle and Flywheel Sports and now is pivoting again with a new book, Riding High! Ruth shares her candid life story with us. Find her on Instagram here. "The only true definition of failure is to stop trying. " - Ruth Zukerman
It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. Just ask Ruth Zukerman, one of the original cofounders of SoulCycle (arguably one of the most successful spin class companies anywhere) and who, aftera devastating exit from the company, picked herself up and built Flywheel Sports, offering spinning classes with a “where everybody knows your name” ethos, and a big focus on technology and metrics. And, it turns out, this isn’t the last chapter—at all! Ruth Zukerman, Co-founder of indoor cycling businesses SoulCycle and Flywheel Sports and author of the book “Riding High: How I Kissed SoulCycle Goodbye, Co-Founded Flywheel, and Built the Life I Always Wanted”, joins Socialfly Co-founder Courtney Spritzer in the MouthMedia Network studios for a conversation about building her company and her journey to success, along with a surprise and a brainstorm. In this episode: How Ruth made the decision to leave her lifelong passion, dance, behind and how she found a new passion and career through spinning Ruth’s first experience of being intimidated by spin classes at the old Reebok gym, and the epiphany of pushing herself to go to her first class Why the combination of exercise, music, and a pack mentality resonated with Ruth’s dance background How an inspiring spin instructor’s move to Florida prompted Ruth to become an instructor herself and led to a whole new career path The out-of-the-blue offer to be the face of a new boutique spinning studio gym: SoulCycle How Ruth brought students from her old gym to the new studio despite its rough-around-the-edges feel in the beginning. How the brand’s strong identity got started from the get-go The hard times early on, from leading classes for six people to teaching 22 classes a week How Ruth’ brought a therapeutic and spiritual experience to SoulCycle Flywheel, Ruth’s departure from SoulCycle, and starting a new brand from scratch The ways Ruth has changed her focus with Flywheel to bring spinning to a wider audience The liberating aspect of starting a new brand built around inclusiveness, and the challenges of differentiating from other studios How metrics played a role in building Flywheel’s branding and also opened the door to more male clients The branding challenges early on, and how they developed the “Never Coast” mentality. The organic way a buyer was found after his daughter brought him to a Flywheel class How much can change from the initial decision to sell a company and handing over the keys Ruth’s difficult decision to leave Flywheel The lessons Ruth has learned along the way, and actions she would take in hindsight to protect herself The importance of trusting your gut and your business partners, but not at the expense of risking your own position How sometimes being genuinely prepared to walk away from a deal can be the best negotiation tactic Ruth’s book “Riding High,” and why she wants to tell her story now. Her hopes that the book will inspire people and start their own business and learn from her mistakes The importance of bearing your soul and being intimate with the ups and downs of one’s life in order to reach and inspire others The aftermath of leaving Flywheel and getting off of the bike for the first time in 21 years, and how Ruth is rediscovering herself How Ruth has tried to be present and an inspiration for her daughters, and how that has set them on their own paths Plus, a 60-second brainstorm on how Ruth can promote herself and her book

Having “co-founder of SoulCycle and Flywheel Sports” on your resume is kind of a big deal. This week, I sit down with Ruth Zukerman, Creative Director of boutique cycling favorite FlyWheel Sports. After her 1996 divorce, the former dancer and aerobics instructor felt lost and took to the Spin bike. Soon, she became an instructor and was approached by a rider about starting a company of their own—SoulCycle. In 2009, she left to start FlyWheel—which currently has more than 40 locations across the country. In episode 21, she explains why she still teaches classes despite her demanding schedule, and offers advice for making the hard calls in business. We close things out with a little visualization exercise that’ll have you ready to conquer any hurdle that comes your way. —- @flywheelsports @ruth_flywheel @hurdlepodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hurdle/message
Rachele Pojednic, PhD, EdM is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Simmons College and a former research fellow at the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Pojednic’s work has a specific focus on physical activity and nutrition interventions for the prevention and treatment of non-communicable chronic disease. She is also the founder of the Strong Process Forum, a one day Boston-based wellness conference that includes three curated panels of scientists, farmers, journalists, athletes, clinicians and innovators designed to integrate evidence based knowledge into the health and wellness space. Dr. Pojednic received her PhD from the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition & Exercise Physiology. Her research at Tufts was completed in the Nutrition, Exercise Physiology and Sarcopenia laboratory at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts, where she was awarded the Ruth L Kirschstein National Research Service Award by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. While at Tufts, Dr. Pojednic examined the molecular interaction between human skeletal muscle and vitamin D as well as novel contributions of speed and velocity to overall muscular power with aging. References: NY Times Blog Tamar Haspel- Washington Post Journalist Katherine Pett @nutritionwonk Kevin Folta @kevinfolta Pema Chodron- "Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better" Highlights (full transcript at www.twopillspodcast.com): I am an Assistant Professor at Simmons University here in Boston in the Nutrition department. I have a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry, so I think about how food affects our bodies at the molecular level. I also started a conference here in Boston, the Strong Process forum. It is an all-day conference where we bring together experts in their fields and all of the people that want the information that the experts are putting out. I always say that the academics suck at Instagram. We try to pull the two worlds together. The academics are then talking to the people in the Fitness and Wellness space. The Fitness and Wellness people are than informing the scientists. They are teaching them how to communicate their message to a lay audience. It is a nice back and forth. I also walk the talk and I am an indoor cycling instructor here at Flywheel Sports and I am an ambassador with Specialized Bicycles. L: Can you expand on why scientists suck at Instagram and how we can improve our communication about what we are doing? R: Half of my brain has been in pretty high-level research in academia. The other half of my brain has been in the Fitness and Wellness space with my undergrad degree in exercise physiology. I started out as a personal trainer and worked as a strength coach for a lot of teams here. I found that most people in the Fitness and Wellness space are getting their information second, third, and fourth hand. I really wanted to bring those two worlds together. We are so privileged in the academic space to go to conferences and get exposure to the people doing the best research at the highest level. How can we get that information to people who need it? They are the enthusiastic and passionate practitioners on the ground. How do we teach the academics to be the first hand source of knowledge for the Fitness and Wellness experts? At Strong Process, we have three panels: move, eat, and rest. We fill them with three experts each. We design them like a TED Talk. The moderator is a wellness expert. We try to blend this idea of trust between both worlds. I wrote a paper that is under review that describes how clinicians do not trust personal trainers with their patients. We need to build this bridge of trust between those two worlds. I saw a huge gap and Strong Process is trying to fill that up.
Sarah Robb O'Hagan has been described as Superwoman, undercover. She's been named one of Forbes' most powerful women in sports and one of Fast Company's most creative people in business. This woman is unmatched. She's been the global president of the $5,000,000,000 sports brand, Gatorade, where she led the business through a major repositioning and business turnaround. She has also held senior positions at Nike, Virgin Atlantic, Atari, served as the global president of Equinox and currently she's the CEO of Flywheel Sports. If there was such a thing as a resume-off, Sarah would win. There aren't too many people, if anyone, that has a portfolio of brands of this caliber that they've led, but it hasn't always been a smooth ride for Sarah. In fact, she gets squirmy when people read bios because she knows they're not the whole truth. Sarah keeps it real in this episode. She is very candid about her career, what's gone wrong, why it went wrong, how you can leap frog her lessons and everything in between. She gives invaluable interviewing advice, and we also learn how career trajectories aren't always linear. Sarah recently called a timeout to write her book titled “ExtremeYou - Step Up. Stand Out. Kick Ass. Repeat.”, so get your pen and paper or your notes app out, because this one is stacked with takeaways.
Sarah Robb O’Hagan learned the hard way why professionals who thrive must ‘step up’, ‘stand out’ and ‘kick ass’. And, oh yeah, why it’s essential to repeat all of the above if you want to succeed! As CEO of Flywheel Sports, the fast growing indoor cycling company, O’Hagan is on the cutting edge as a leader in the fitness industry which is currently experiencing a major transformation through digital content and services. Whether instructing, training, encouraging, recruiting or developing business, Barry Ennis has cemented his place in a niche of international fitness consultants. His meditative yoga background and business acumen brings a mindset to China that's inspiring enthusiasm and growth in all things fitness. Watch the full episode on YouTube – https://youtu.be/5cyug8kpQ7A Born in LA, Barry grew up playing baseball through college, making it far enough to play on professional scouting teams. His progressive coaches in baseball led Barry to undertake yoga. Not only was this the start of a new passion but, through shared interests, he ended up teaching his fellow students at college before becoming popular enough where it was time to get certified. Barry travelled to India to further study the discipline where it first originated. From Mumbai, he moved to Dubai where he helped create a bootcamp class business, and then moved on to work with the Flywheel Sports franchise, training the instructors before finding his new home in Shanghai. Since college, as well as an almost endless list of yoga disciplines, Barry's taught indoor cycling, HIIT, strength, barre, and more. He's now a master trainer / instructor at SpaceCycle in China. Training aside, Barry's also facilitating growth through focus on instructor education as well as bringing in masters from all over the world to teach – aiding fitness for the whole country As a trainer, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere is key. As a podcast host for Fitness Career Mastery, he provides a source for personal trainers, group fitness instructors or gym owners all over the world to share secrets to success in order to achieve mastery in their careers. Episode Highlights - How cities new to modern fitness facilities can draw on experience from industry-developed locations to grow efficiently and offer more to their memberships. What kind of progressive coaching in meditative disciplines can benefit other sports. How to combat the first job vs experience dilemma and rebrand yourself to grow your career anywhere in the world. The Net Promoter System Podcast – Customer Experience Insights from Loyalty Leaders
When faced with a scrappy challenger, it's not hard for established brands to lose sight of their core customers, especially if they're in a highly competitive market. These situations usually arise when an established brand starts to lose market share to a buzzworthy upstart. When that happens, a company's leaders might debate whether they should change course to chase a new competitor or try to reconnect with the brand's base. Sarah Robb O'Hagan, CEO of the indoor cycling company Flywheel Sports, knows this scenario well. More than five years ago, she helped turn around PepsiCo's multibillion-dollar Gatorade brand when she was president of the sports drink's division. She went on to serve as president of the high-end gym operator Equinox before taking the helm at Flywheel Sports. Sarah, who's also the author of Extreme You: Step Up, Stand Out, Kick Ass. Repeat, shares her experiences in this episode, including her views on what it takes to connect with customers.
Women can be awfully good at getting in their own way. We have the skills, the knowledge, the drive, we’re ready to realize our dreams … and yet. We flail, we stall, or worst of all, we sabotage the success we so desperately want. How can we identify what we’re doing wrong and get on the path towards achieving our goals? Sometimes we just need a partner. We found that partner in Lara Dalch. Lara is a health and lifestyle coach to "women on the rise" – women who crave practical tools for feeling healthy, confident, and powerful again so they can have the career and life they really want. As a former entertainment marketing executive and busy entrepreneur, Lara understands the challenges of balancing good health with a busy schedule and is passionate about helping women harness the power of good health to fuel their lives through a practical, “whole life” approach to health Lara is a regular contributor to popular health and wellness website MindBodyGreen and has been a featured speaker at Microsoft, Flywheel Sports, Orangetheory Fitness, the University of Virginia, and the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia, is a Certified Pilates Instructor, and received her training to practice health coaching via the State University of New York and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. 1:26 Lara has had a very colorful and non-traditional career path. We asked her, how do you go from working at Comedy Central to health and lifestyle coaching? Perhaps not surprisingly, her own hectic lifestyle was the inspiration behind helping others get control of theirs. 3:01 Lara gives us a few more details on how her own improved life was her light bulb moment. “I stopped falling asleep at my desk!” Now she helps others be fully present – and awake – in their lives and work. 5:18 We wanted to know, how do clients know it’s time to seek help? If you’re saying things like, “I’m exhausted all the time,” or “My food is a disaster,” or if you feel like you’re just not “showing up” in work and life the way you want, you might need a Lara. 7:17 Lots of women (and men) undoubtedly fit the criteria of needing a Lara. What keeps us from getting the support we need? Lara says, “They’re afraid they’re not going to show up for themselves.” Hmmmm… having a great idea, getting all excited and prepped, then just not moving forward. Sound familiar? 20:00 Asking for help is often seen as a sign of weakness in modern times. But Lara says it’s one of the most courageous things a high-achiever can do. Lara takes us through the many ways we show we need support and the benefits of getting it. 21:30 On the surface, we should be getting healthier: we have more knowledge, more health care and treatment options…so why are we feeling so bloody awful? First, there is such a thing as “too much information” – Lara tells us how to stop looking outside your body when the answers lie within. 23:40 Lara sees herself as a “partner” in achieving optimal health and wellness – a partner to her client but also to the network of other supports in a woman’s life. Often we have tons of advice from lots of expert sources, but we’re missing the "practical know how" piece. It’s great to have a nutrition plan; even better if you know how to follow it. 25:00 Women over 40 have different challenges than their younger sisters, and they often seem much less doable in our 40s than they did in our 20s. According to Lara, there’s no reason to think you can no longer achieve your goals just because you’re older. The magic pixie dust that’ll get you there? Time. 27:02 Lara actually really enjoys working with women in the 40s and 50s. She gives us the low down on the special gifts women in midlife bring to the table. 27:58 We all know it’s true, even if we can’t seem to make it happen: women who are successful are those who are focused on integrating self-care into their lives. In her talk on the Five Powerful Habits of Women on the Rise, Lara details what successful women have in common. Here’s the good news: it’s all stuff you can have too. Lara shares the details. 30:52s Finally, we asked Lara what a woman should do if she’s considering finding herself a coach. “Be open to going a little out of your comfort zone,” Lara tells us. Openness to experimenting, tuning into your body in a new way, making the decision to move forward toward your goals, those are the beginning to your healthier, more fulfilled future. Want more Lara? Get her free guide to discover your unique way of getting in your own way when it comes to eating healthier, exercising more, getting more sleep, and kicking the habits that have gotten you out of shape and out of sorts. Bethany Lyons is the owner, founder, and CEO of Lyons Den Power Yoga in New York City. Before opening the Baptiste yoga-style studio, she was the first-ever hired instructor at SoulCycle, and was a regional manager in charge of the group fitness programs at Crunch Fitness — which is where we met! (We share the story of our first interaction in the episode — it involves Bethany being the spin class sub and me being pissed.) Bethany has been a fitness instructor for more than a decade, and before that she was a professional dancer, singer, and actress. Today, Bethany is all about showing up, doing the work, and “being a yes.” On this episode, she shares the story of how she accidentally learned to love yoga (happens to all of us that way, doesn’t it?), how and why she decided to open her own studio — in the most expensive neighborhood in the most expensive city in the world — and whether or not she was worried no one would show up the day the studio opened.
