creeking doors do you hear that? rattling chains oh no! you know what that means the sound of a mummies curse its hallowtide again and we got our resident horror movie girlies Mckenzeee and Tabitha to school Io, our resident fraidy cat on the true meaning of terror. We talk about gnostic horror, the reptile brain, demons, sexual and gender anxiety in scary media, how porn and horror movies relate as mediums that bring you into your body, does a movie have to be scary to be a good horror movie, what “hell” means and probably other stuff We discuss a lot of movies on this one and have spoilers for the following Hellraiser, Exorcist 3, Alien, Possession, Lake Mungo, Jacob's ladder, and Shudder to name the most obvious. Io forgot to do plugs on this one but to be fair they never promised they were a professional. It has been a little while... we are back. Life was a little crazy for all of us over the last couple of months. Summer had a baby, McKenzee and Emily were elected to student council, and Chantel has been working and singing her guts out. We carved out some time to record a podcast today and feels good to be back in the saddle, so to speak. What is that you ask? What has been keeping me so busy?... Just work and making homeade yogurt. No big deal. Today we talk about how being away from home can help build self esteem and independence. It is a great conversation about finding your true self and taking responsibility for your life.

Last week we talked about how you can be happy without having a boyfriend. This week a few members of the Council get together to discuss the importance of being happy for others. We also talk about why it can be hard to be happy for others when good things happen for them in their lives. McKenzee and Chantel share some moments that they have experienced recently where it was difficult for them to choose to be happy for the other person. One thing that is important that is pointed out in today's podcast is that it is OK to be disappointed and still be happy for the other person. Send us your stories of when someone that you know experienced success and you were really happy for them.

Today we have the priviledge of introducing two new council members. Emily and McKenzee. They are friends of mine and are teriffic people who have a lot of great insight into life. We are excited to have them as part of the council. We also have Brianna and Chantel with us. A couple of weeks ago Summer and I talked about how Geology relates to life. As part of that discussion the idea came up to talk about how teens can deal with rising expectations that parents and teachers might have as kids get older. This is that podcast. Our council members have great advice about how to deal with those rising expectations.
