[**New episodes of ATTC are now available in video! You can watch on Spotify, or YouTube. Or you can just keep on listening in all the same places you usually do.**] Two weeks ago, we took Andrew Talks to Chefs on the road, and recorded a LIVE! show as part of the inaugural Cookbook Week in San Francisco. The subject was Forgotten Cookbook Classics. The guests were two of San Francisco's favorite chefs, Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski (State Bird Provisions, The Progress, The Anchovy Bar). The location was Civic Kitchen. Before an enthusiastic audience, we discussed books by Jacques Pepin, Gordon Ramsay (!), and Claudia Fleming, among many others. We were honored to share the bill with Michele Norris and her wonderful Your Mama's Kitchen podcast. If you're not familiar with the show, we suggest you check it out--it's great! If you are an aspiring chef younger than 30, or think you might know of one who'd thrive in this program, please check out S.Pellegrino's Young Chef Academy Competition, or go directly to the application. Andrew has interviewed many past competitors and observed several competitions, and personally recommends applying. Our great thanks to our presenting sponsor, meez, the recipe-operating system for culinary professionals. And thanks to S.Pellegrino for their longstanding support of the pod.

This week, Ivy Slater, host of Her Success Story, chats with her guest, Sue Pellegrino. The two talk about the bold journey of acquiring and leading Everest Discovery, the critical importance of compassionate leadership in the high-stress world of eDiscovery and litigation support, and how building a strong, values-driven team has helped grow and sustain the business. In this episode, we discuss: How Sue Pellegrino transitioned from restoring classic cars and a background in accounting/business administration to leading a company in the eDiscovery field. What she changed as a leader: creating a company that values work-life balance, cross-training, and multiple people who can do the same task so the team can support one another and step away when needed. When Sue Pellegrino took over Everest Discovery, the initial challenges of entering a new, technology-driven industry. Why compassion, open-door leadership, and work-life balance are essential values Sue Pellegrino wanted to instill in her company's culture. How she leads with an open-door mindset in a fully remote environment, making herself accessible by Teams, text, phone, and calendar, and building a culture where people feel safe bringing both work and personal concerns to the table. Sue Pellegrino, Owner, President, and CFO, Everest Discovery From restoring classic cars to serving as an accounting executive and entrepreneur in eDiscovery, Sue Pellegrino has challenged the status quo around what a woman leader can be her whole life. Sue has spent her career managing organizations' finances, ranging from publicly traded companies to regional enterprises and small businesses. Now, she runs Everest Discovery, taking the business to new heights. The humble beginnings in the mailroom at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, began Sue Pellegrino's journey to the top, which is a testament to her determination and work ethic. She steadily climbed the corporate ladder, eventually becoming an Accounts Payable Supervisor overseeing all vendors' accounts. Her career then led her to the role of CFO at Copy Secure, a regional paper and eDiscovery solutions company. Here, she led the accounting, human resources, investor relations, and tax departments, playing a pivotal role in growing the company to seven-figure revenues before its acquisition by KLDiscovery. With over 25 years of experience in accounting and business administration, and a decade in eDiscovery, Sue Pellegrino is a seasoned leader. She now leads a dedicated team of litigation support specialists at Everest Discovery, ensuring the company provides the highest quality and most cost-effective solutions to its clients. Under her guidance, Everest's revenue has soared by 42%, and its reach has expanded across the country and even South America. As a female business owner, Sue is a diversity, equity, and inclusion champion, proud to devote her time and resources to organizations that advocate for marginalized and underrepresented groups. She is the Director of the Philadelphia Chapter of Women in eDiscovery, serves on the Philadelphia Regional Steering Committee of Women Owned Law as well as Chairing the Membership and Marketing Committees and VP of the Executive Board, and is an active member of the National Association of Women Business Owners' Philadelphia Chapter. In addition, for 10+ years, Sue has been a vocal fundraiser and volunteer for Camp Achieve, a summer camp for youth with epilepsy. Sue is also a classic car enthusiast who learned to work on cars with her dad from a young age. She recently rebuilt a custom 1966 Fastback Mustang, an accomplishment that resulted in first-place trophies at car shows and was featured in MotorTrend magazine. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Sue was honored as a 2024 Enterprising Women of the Year, Corporate Counsel Business Journal (CCBJ) 2024 50 Women to Watch, 2025 Class of Top 100 Women to KNOW in America and Philadelphia Business Journal's 2025 Corporate Leadership Award Honoree. She recently was recognized with the Charley and Peggy Roach Founders' Award by the Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania and received the Distinguished Member Service Award from Women Owned Law. And, of course, her bulldog Louie is never far from her side. Website: https://everestdiscovery.com/ Social Media Links: https://www.linkedin.com/in/suepellegrino/

Or you can just keep on listening in all the same places you usually do.**] The NYC and American chef community lost a beloved and influential figure last week with the sudden death of Chef Tom Valenti after a short illness. Tom presided over the kitchens of such fabled restaurants as Alison on Dominick Street, Cascabel, Butterfield 81, Ouest, and Cesca, among others. In addition to becoming known for a bold, lusty culinary style, Tom helped found the Windows of Hope charity to raise money for the families of restaurant workers who perished in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on New York City. He also possessed a quick wit and abiding gift for silliness. (In addition to all of that, he authored three cookbooks in collaboration with Andrew, who was also his publiciast in the 1990s.) In this episode, Andrew shares some remembrances of Tom, and airs a conversation with Tom that they began in 2020, and which was never finished. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. How Does This End? The escalating conflict with Iran. Clay and Buck break down a major report from Fox News’ Trey Yingst, who reveals that Israel struck a gathering of Iran’s Supreme Council while they were choosing a new Supreme Leader—an unprecedented intelligence and operational blow. Clay and Buck analyze the implications of U.S.–Israeli air superiority, expressing the view that Iran’s leadership is increasingly vulnerable and unable to protect even top officials. They discuss the likelihood of the U.S. and Israel shaping Iran’s future leadership, referencing historic parallels such as the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and Venezuela’s post‑Maduro transition. The conversation deepens as they react to President Trump’s warnings that failure to act against Iran’s nuclear program could have led to a “nuclear war,” followed by explosive comments from negotiator Steve Witkoff, who recounts Iran bragging about possessing enough enriched uranium for 11 nuclear bombs. Clay and Buck examine how these revelations accelerated U.S. action and what a post‑strike political landscape may look like inside Iran. Texas Primary Day! Clay Travis and Buck Sexton interview with Congressman Wesley Hunt, a leading candidate in the Texas Senate primary. Hunt lays out his case for next‑generation conservative leadership, citing his West Point background, combat service as an Apache pilot, support for term limits, and strong alignment with President Trump. He sharply criticizes what he calls the “soft bigotry of low expectations” from liberal politicians, slams Gavin Newsom’s recent comments, and emphasizes his commitment to cultural clarity on issues like gender, family values, and assimilation. Hunt also discusses Iran, calling Trump’s actions “peace through strength” and asserting that strategic force prevents greater conflict. Sen. Markwayne Mullin An extended interview featuring Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma, who discusses the unfolding U.S.–Israel military campaign against Iran. Senator Mullin emphasizes that this is not another Iraq or Afghanistan but a direct confrontation with a regime that has targeted Americans for 47 years. He explains why President Trump’s strategy differs from previous administrations and outlines the intelligence behind striking Iranian leadership, including revelations that Iran claimed to possess enough enriched uranium for 11 nuclear bombs. Mullin argues that Trump’s approach—eliminating threats rather than delaying action—is both historically rare and strategically necessary. Clay and Buck then explore how these operations intersect with the America First doctrine. Senator Mullin responds to skeptical constituents by explaining why actions in Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran directly impact U.S. national security, from drug trafficking to global energy markets. He details how a nuclear‑armed Iran could destabilize world shipping lanes, spike oil prices, endanger U.S. allies, and ultimately threaten the American homeland. The conversation also touches on congressional issues including the SAVE Act and the challenges of overcoming a Senate filibuster. In a lighter turn, the hosts dive into a humorous discussion about physical fitness on Capitol Hill, reacting to viral footage of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth bench‑pressing 315 pounds. Senator Mullin, known for his own extreme fitness feats, compares strength metrics across members of Congress and discusses why physical conditioning boosts confidence, mental health, and leadership. Clay Buys a Tesla In a lighter cultural shift, Clay and Buck riff on generational habits, restaurant drink trends, and Costco culture—highlighted by Buck’s wife humorously blaming his Pellegrino obsession for her bulk‑shopping trips. This segues into a forward‑looking discussion on the future of autonomous driving, sparked by Clay’s firsthand experience with Tesla’s self-driving technology. They predict that self‑driving cars will become the global standard within a generation, reducing accidents, lowering insurance costs, ending drunk driving, and transforming how Americans view car ownership and transportation. Drawing from area purveyors and farms--including the restaurant's own--Armond employs fire as his muse in his never-ending search for what "Shelter Island tastes like." This fascinating conversation, recorded from before the open kitchen at Léon 1909, takes on deeper and deeper meaning as it reaches its coda, with a tour of the restaurant's 15-foot hearth. Tonight, on The Panel, Wallace Chapman is joined by panellists Nicky Pellegrino and Allan Blackman. First up, Research Economist Professor Paul Dalziel says the latest child poverty statistics released today show our country is backsliding on any of the progress made since the Child Poverty Reduction Act was passed. Then, Wellington mayor Andrew Little says he's looking at changes to bus lanes, specifically bus lanes that win the city mountains in infringement notices. Oliver Gazley from Gazley Motors gives the panel the benefit of his opinion on the apparently over zealous collection of fines.
In part two, Sharon Harvey, associate professor at AUT specialising in applied linguistics, says the recent move by some to make English an official language completely misses the point. Then, backyard gardens in Dunedin have collectively grown a "tsunami" of plums this summer. A local community fruit co-op has been inundated by an entire TONNE of them.

In this special episode, created by one of our student podcast fellows, NYU student Rachel Fang interviews Dr. Matthew Pellegrino, a composer, music educator, and professor at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Korean culture is everywhere, and with the recent success of Netflix's K-Pop Demon Hunters, K-pop's importance in particular has taken on new heights. Rachel speaks with Dr. Pellegrino about his musical upbringing, how his Korean identity has shaped the way he hears and thinks about music, and how this all influences his teaching as an NYU professor.Dr. Matthew Jihoon Pellegrino is an award-winning composer, Fulbright researcher, and music educator. He has enjoyed an eclectic musical upbringing; one which combines Western classical, traditional Korean music, and a brief stint in a metal band. Uncompromising in his work, Pellegrino seeks to create music that engages equally with casual audiences as well as the most serious of listeners. In his research and his music he most enjoys bringing Korean music into the classroom and concert hall by exploring Korean instruments and folk melodies, and analyzing trends in recent K-pop songs. For a full transcript of this episode, please email career.communications@nyu.edu.
