Jesus argues that God set down the law as a way of establishing a community whose primary purpose is to protect those who are often too defenseless to stand against the way the world is ordered. In other words, Jesus offers a vision of God's reign that turns the taken-for-grantedness of those who are privileged on its head, and stands beside those who are too easily trampled by folks at the top of the food chain. I had the pleasure of speaking with Leonard Smith, husband, father, ministry leader, entrepreneur and owner of a financial brokerage in Maryland. We decided to speak about something different in this episode, the grace in marriage. As we are both married men, we thought that this was a topic that needed to be discussed. This is a message that is a must listen! But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more” I mentioned ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” Leonard mentioned 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬: “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” Leonard mentioned Philippians 2:3 NKJV "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself" Leonard mentioned: James 4:6 NKJV "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble'" I mentioned Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" Leonard mentioned Ephesians 3:20 NKJV: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us" My Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwaynestaten/ Leave me a Voice Message! https://anchor.fm/dwayne-staten5/message Music: Moody by Jay Someday https://soundcloud.com/jaysomeday Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/_moody Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/WJHTZpx9d2o

riginal Broadcast: Lent 2009 Monthly Theme: The Passion according to St. Mark And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Mark 15:34) Forsaken Stricken. Smitten. Afflicted. Forsaken. All words to describe Jesus at the ninth hour of the day on Good Friday. This fourth Word of Jesus on the Cross comes as a quote of the twenty-second Psalm. He had hung between Heaven and earth for six hours--rejected by men, forsaken by His Father. He was forsaken because He had become sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had committed no sin, but as He was nailed to the Cross, He became the very embodiment of sin as your sins and the sins of everyone who had ever lived, is living now and ever will live, were placed on His shoulders. That's why there was darkness for three hours. That's why there's the agony in His voice. That's the only place where forgiveness can be found. He was forsaken so that you would be accepted. He took the punishment for your sin so that you would be found not guilty. He left this world without a friend so that you could sing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Your friend laid down His life so that you could have eternal life. He was forsaken so that you would never feel forsaken. Amen.
