Be Still & Be Loved is a guided Scripture meditation designed to help you slow down, quiet your mind, and rest in God's presence. Whether you're beginning your day, taking a midday pause, or preparing for sleep, this space invites you to breathe deeply and receive His peace. Take a few moments to settle into a comfortable position. If you're able, lie down. If not, find a seat where you can rest without distraction. As you begin to notice your breath, pay attention to how your state of being starts to shift. Every inhale and exhale is a reminder that God is near, holding you with His steady love. In this guided meditation, you'll reflect on 2 Corinthians 4:7: "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." Though our bodies are fragile, they carry something infinitely valuable—God's presence. He is our greatest treasure, and He treasures every part of us, including our minds. Together we'll quiet the noise, fix our thoughts on what is excellent, noble, and true, and rest in the One who is making us new—body, mind, and spirit. Breathe deeply. You are held. You are loved. You are His treasure. Ready to Go Deeper?
Have you seen videos of people experiencing a dramatic emotional release and wondered, "Do I need that to heal?" The conversation around trauma, somatic healing, and nervous system regulation has exploded in recent years. Many point to the bestselling book The Body Keeps the Score and the idea that trauma is stored in the body. Others argue that trauma isn't stored in the body at all, but rather in the brain's predictive patterns and responses. So what's true? In this episode, Alisa explores this important conversation through both science and Scripture, examining where biology and theology meet. Together we'll consider what trauma does to the brain and body, why healing requires more than information alone, and how God's design for our minds and bodies points us toward lasting freedom. You'll discover: What somatic release is The difference between trauma being "stored" in the body versus encoded in the brain How trauma can impact our ability to shift from fear, anxiety, and hypervigilance into peace and safety Why tending to the body can help us tend to the mind What Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:5 teach us about renewing our minds Why healing happens in connection, not isolation How the compassion of Christ invites us into true restoration Alisa also unpacks Jesus' encounter with the man at the pool in John 5, asking a powerful question: Do we truly want to be healed, even when healing requires discomfort, surrender, and change? Practical Ways to Participate in Healing Get close to Jesus Spend time in God's Word until your heart is awakened to His truth and love. Stay connected to God's people Healing happens in relationships with people who embody the love and truth of Christ. Practice daily sacrifice Learn to become comfortable with healthy discomfort. These practices are more than spiritual disciplines—they are psycho-neuro-biological pathways that help align our minds, bodies, and spirits with God's design for wholeness. Scriptures Referenced Romans 12:2 2 Corinthians 10:5 John 5:1-15 Resources Mentioned The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk Kotler S, Mannino M, Fox G and Friston K (2026) The body does not keep the score: trauma, predictive coding, and the restoration of metastability. Your emotional detachment might be quietly wounding the people you love most. In PART 2 of our Father's Day LOOK-BACK, Jeff resurfaces five more conversations that hit different the second time around. ✅ Why your kids can feel when you've checked out emotionally ✅ How to stop pointing your kids to yourself as the source of life ✅ The dad who never raised his voice and what it did to his son ✅ What "unhurried presence" actually looks like in everyday moments ✅ The hard truth about emotional regulation every dad needs to hear SUMMARY In Part 2 of this Father's Day look-back series, Jeff Zaugg resurfaces five more powerful conversations from the past dad year, featuring Jeremy Pryor, Ted Cunningham, Pastor Tim Timberlake, Mac Lake, and Seth Dahl. The clips cover a dad's superpower of emotional detachment and how it can quietly wound the people he loves most, the faulty input-output theory of parenting and why God is the only true source of life, the transformative power of tone and speaking to the king in your child instead of the fool, the gift of unhurried presence and what it looks like to truly savor your kids, and the hard truth that a man who can't regulate his emotions forces his family to do it for him. This episode is a flyover packed with activation, challenge, and the kind of dad wisdom that sticks. KEY QUOTES "My kids can actually feel that. Like, if something were to happen to me, I think dad would be the least affected." — Jeremy Pryor, Ep. 415 "My source is Jesus, not you." — Ted Cunningham, Ep. 417 "In us we have both a fool and a king. The one that you address is the one that will respond." — Pastor Tim Timberlake, Ep. 424 "A posture of unhurried presence. So often we are present with our kids, but we're not present with our kids." — Mac Lake, Ep. 435 "A man who can't regulate his emotions forces his wife and kids to do it for him." — Seth Dahl, Ep. 429 TAKEAWAYS Your emotional detachment is a superpower that can become a weapon. Dads are wired to disconnect under pressure, and that's often a gift. But when that same skill gets used to keep your family at arm's length, your kids feel it. The question isn't how attached you feel. It's whether they feel attached to you. You were never meant to be the source. Pouring into your kids so they pour back into you is a trap. Your job, according to Deuteronomy 6, is to point them every single day to the only true source of life. Fire yourself. Fire your kids. God in heaven is the source. Tone is one of the greatest gifts a dad can give. Pastor Tim Timberlake's father never raised his voice, never disciplined from anger or frustration, and the love in his tone did the convicting. Your size, your volume, your first response, those things mark your kids. Speak to the king in them, not the fool. Unhurried presence is a posture, not a schedule. Mac Lake leaves adult conversations to throw a football for 60 minutes if that's what his grandkids want. The shift is simple but hard: let your kids be the thing that matters most in the moment, not an interruption to what actually matters. Emotional self-control is a fruit your family gets to eat. When you're getting triggered by your six-year-old, you're not parenting. You're asking them to regulate you. The Holy Spirit wants to grow self-control in you so your family is nourished by it. Your heart is upstream to everything in your home. Join Alisa Keeton for a light interval workout and contemplative prayer practice rooted in Romans 8:28. Drawing from the teachings of Thomas Keating, Alisa explores surrender as an active posture of trust—not apathy, but courage. As you move, you'll consider what it means to welcome God into every part of your life, especially the places where you're striving, overfunctioning, worrying, or trying to stay in control. Through gentle intervals and reflective questions, you'll be invited to notice where your fists are closed and practice opening your hands to God's presence. Together, you'll explore the difference between groaning and grumbling, how suffering can become a pathway to deeper trust, and why surrender is often the beginning of coming home to God. This workout will help you shift from frustration to fascination, from anxiety to adventure, as you remember that God is working all things toward good. Come ready to move, reflect, and strengthen your surrender. Playlist for This Workout

What if the smartest legacy move isn't leaving your kids a pile of money someday, but using your wealth right now to help them buy time, build habits, and change their future while you're still here to watch it happen? We sit down with Allen Mueller of 7 Saturdays Financial for a practical, deeply useful conversation about gifting to family with intention. The thread running through all of it is simple: money is not just for accumulating. It's for strengthening the people and values you care about most. This episode covers: Why gifting during your lifetime can be more impactful than leaving a larger inheritance later The difference between a tax threshold and a paperwork threshold for gifts How the annual gift exclusion really works Why many retirees underspend and unintentionally miss chances to help family now Smart ways to fund kids' and grandkids' futures through 529s, custodial Roths, and brokerage accounts How to think about gifting for college, healthcare, and home down payments Why "skin in the game" still matters when helping younger family members How appreciated shares can be gifted downstream or upstream for tax advantages Why wisdom and stewardship matter more than simply transferring money How FI can turn parents and grandparents into real-time wealth builders for the next generation . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===

What if the smartest move on your road to FI isn't buying a bigger house, but shrinking the footprint, clearing the clutter, and finally designing a life that actually fits? In this episode, we sit down with Sarah Susanka, the architect behind the bestselling "Not So Big House" movement. We talk about what happens when you stop building for appearances and start building for how you really live. Sarah shares how growing up in England, then landing in car-centric suburban Los Angeles made her question why Americans kept buying "hamburger bun but no hamburger" houses full of unused rooms. This episode covers: Sarah Susanka's origin story and how suburbia pushed her toward architecture The difference between building bigger and building better Why unused rooms are the housing version of lifestyle bloat - How right-sizing a home parallels right-sizing a life The design power of light, ceiling height, flow, and multi-use space How small architectural moves can create huge changes in mood and function Why old thought patterns can clutter a life just like unused rooms clutter a house The connection between beauty, sustainability, and building things that last How Bill used Sarah's ideas in his own home design and life redesign Why intentional design matters even more for late starters making a reset spaces. . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===

What if the fastest way to understand women's financial power isn't another lecture, but a trivia game that quietly reveals how recent, fragile, and still unfinished so much of women's economic progress really is? In this special "Sheconomy" quiz-show episode, Jackie and Bill join Janine Firpo and financial planner Sarah-Catherine Gutierrez for a lively game show. They move from Equal Pay Day and credit-card rights to why women often outperform men as investors, why female-led companies and firms still get shut out, and what could happen if women intentionally shifted even a slice of their wealth toward their values. The tone is playful, but the message is serious: money is power, and women stepping into that power changes families, businesses, markets, and maybe the whole economy. This episode covers: The surprising timeline of women's financial rights in the US What Equal Pay Day reveals about how far women still have to go Why women often outperform men as investors How overconfidence and overtrading hurt returns Why women-led businesses still receive a tiny share of venture capital The rise of advice-only and flat-fee financial planning models What values-aligned and ESG investing actually mean Why women's money choices can reshape markets and communities How much wealth women are expected to control in the coming years The collective impact women could have by shifting capital intentionally . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===

What happens when women in the financial independence community finally get a room of their own and use it not just to talk numbers, but to unpack the invisible stuff they've been carrying for years? In this on-location episode, Jackie takes us inside the Women of FI annual weekend in Maryland. This was a rare women-centered FI retreat that blends case studies, life design, laughter, and vulnerability. She catches up with two familiar voices from past episodes, Kim Hunter-Borst and Lisa B. to hear what retirement, sabbaticals, and post-FI life actually look like in motion, not just on paper. Other attendees also share why a women-only space hits differently: less posturing, more honesty, more room to talk about emotional labor, caregiving, identity, and the inner work that often gets skipped in mixed-money spaces. This episode covers: What happened at the Women of FI annual women's weekend in Maryland Why women-centered FI spaces create a different kind of openness and trust Kim Hunter-Borst's vision for building a smaller, more vulnerable, more intentional retreat The 2026 theme of "release" and what women said they were ready to put down A retirement update from Kim after leaving full-time work A follow-up from Lisa B. on quitting her job, taking a summer break, and what happened next Why women said they needed space for both the "outer" and "inner" work of FI How attendees are thinking about Coast FI, sabbaticals, community, and post-FI life . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
Join the summer DADAWESOME ACCELERATOR 6-week coaching group: https://www.dadawesome.org/coaching SUMMARY Pastor Gabe Biedenbaugh opens up about the generational faith handed down to him, the shame that nearly disqualified him from his calling, and the "you're not enough" lie so many men carry. In part one of this Father's Day conversation, he shows why vulnerability, brotherhood, and a heart to serve are the way home. TAKEAWAYS The legacy of faith can start with one man stepping in — Gabe's grandfather died young, and other men fathered his dad. Shame attacks your identity; conviction shows you the way out, condemnation just says you're the problem. Beat the lie head-on: "I'm not enough, but Christ in me is more than enough." Vulnerability in real brotherhood is where men get unstuck and find freedom. A dad living free brings joy home; serving (not being served) is the posture — "leaders are into towels, not titles." QUOTES "Satan's goal isn't to tell you a blatant lie — it's to tell you something so close to the truth you believe it." "My job isn't to fill someone else's cup — it's to empty mine, and let God do what He wants with it." "Conviction says you've made a mistake, but here's the way out. Condemnation says, no — you're the problem." "When you have shame in your life, it impacts the way you bring your best, or lack thereof, to your family." "I want to walk into my home with the attitude of Jesus, who took off his garment to wash feet." What if "one more year" isn't a failure of courage. What if it's a messy, human, sometimes wise transition between the life you built and the life you're finally ready to choose? In this spontaneous, unusually raw episode, Bill, Jackie, and Patrick crack open the emotional side of financial independence. They go beyond the surface of the hesitation, identity shift, grief, relief, and weird freedom that can show up when the math says you're done but your nervous system is still catching up. Bill shares what it feels like to downshift after unexpectedly reaching FI, why he's enjoying work more now that he doesn't need it, and how a heartbreaking night in the ER sharpened his thinking about what really counts. Jackie reflects on her own two-year "one more year" phase and why she no longer sees it as a mistake so much as a cushion she needed. Patrick adds the planner's lens: if a choice still serves your life, it may not be "one more year" syndrome at all. This episode is a heartfelt reminder that the real work isn't just reaching the number but learning how to let go when the time comes. This episode covers: Why "one more year syndrome" may not actually be a bad thing The emotional transition from being FI on paper to actually changing your life Bill's intentional downshift and how FI gave him leverage at work Jackie's two-year hesitation and why she now sees it with more grace How fear, identity, purpose, and burnout all shape retirement timing Why working after FI can still make sense if it serves your life The difference between choosing one more year and drifting into it unconsciously How tragedy and loss can change the way you think about time Why the second chapter of life requires more than just good math How late starters can prepare emotionally, not just financially, for freedom . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===

On a very Star Wars centric episode, the Regular Joe's start off with their usual round of Random Topics including the upcoming Wonderfest convention in Louisville KY. Then, Dave and Barry share their thought on the first new Star Wars movie in seven years to make it to the big screen, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Did it meet their expectations like a pair of proton torpedoes hitting a 2-meter thermal exhaust port or just impact on the surface (hey…if you know, you know). There's also a round of What's in the box with a few highly anticipated items finally joining their collections. Join the next DADAWESOME ACCELERATOR coaching group - APPLY HERE SUMMARY Most men are getting lived by their lives instead of actually living them. In this conversation, Alan Briggs unpacks how a life of constant escape leaves us empty at the end of the day, and what it looks like to design something we can actually engage with instead. From Yes Days with your kids to preparing for the car ride home the way you'd prepare for a business meeting, Alan brings practical insight that will reshape how you show up as a dad this week. TAKEAWAYS ---The best dads aren't the ones with the most time. They're the ones who prepare for the small moments with the same intentionality they bring to work. ---A coming of age year for your son doesn't require waking up at 4 a.m. It just requires showing up consistently and inviting other trusted men to speak life into him. ---Celebrate who your kids actually are instead of trying to make them love what you love. Curiosity is the doorway to connection. ---We were built for both meaningful work and real rest. Without a healthy theology of both, we swing between burnout and apathy. ---The question that changes everything: What is the good life for you and your family three years from now? GUEST Alan Briggs is a coach, author, and adventurer based in Colorado Springs. He runs two and a half companies, including a coworking space, and spends his days helping leaders find a lighter, more sustainable way to live and work. He's the author of multiple books, including his latest resource on anti-burnout, and the host of his own podcast for leaders. Alan and his wife are raising four kids ranging from 12 to 23, including two adopted children. He loves the mountains, disc golf with his son, and learning to cheer for his kids in the worlds they love most. QUOTES "Most men are getting lived by their lives. They are not living their lives. They are letting choices make them. They are not making intentional choices." "I prepare for business meetings. Do I prepare that well for a date with my wife, a date with my daughter, a car ride? Almost always, no." "You don't have to be up at 4 a.m. with your kid. You don't have to do it every day. But do something that affirms you've got what it takes." "Celebrate exactly who they are and exactly what they love doing, instead of trying to make them love the things that you love doing." "We are not the sum of what we carry. Our identity and who we are loved by is so much more important than what we are as dads." Life can feel heavy. Worry settles into our minds, tension finds its way into our bodies, and burdens quietly accumulate. In this gentle Scripture meditation, Alisa Keeton invites you to intentionally pause and place yourself in a posture of receiving. As you settle into stillness, you'll be encouraged to notice where you're carrying weight, stress, or concern and welcome God into those places. This is a sacred invitation to say, "God, I need You. Come find me." Meditating on Psalm 139:7–12, you'll be reminded that there is nowhere you can go beyond God's loving presence. He surrounds you with His wraparound care, hems you in on every side, and meets you right where you are. As He finds you, He brings peace, lightness, and the reassurance that you do not have to carry life's burdens alone. Come as you are. Bring what hurts. Bring what feels heavy. God's presence is already near. Anchor Scripture "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" — Psalm 139:7–12 How to Use Be Still and Be Loved Find a comfortable, quiet place and press play on this gentle biblical meditation. Allow Alisa Keeton to guide you through Scripture, prayer, and moments of stillness as you rest in God's presence and receive His love. Ready to Go Deeper?

What if the real danger in retirement isn't running out of money, but spending so cautiously that you accidentally work too long, live too small, and die with a portfolio that never got a chance to do its job? In part two with Aubrey Williams, we go deeper into the "fog of FI" (that weird, anxious place where the spreadsheet says you're free, but your nervous system absolutely does not believe it). This episode covers: Why the 4% rule can make FI people overwork and underspend How future income streams like Social Security can move your FI date forward Why flexible spending is more realistic than flat, inflation-adjusted withdrawals How risk-based guardrails help you know when to cut or increase spending Why many FI people need more help increasing spending than reducing it How personal inflation can differ from CPI and affect retirement planning Why historical analysis may be more useful than Monte Carlo for some FI decisions How small amounts of income in retirement can meaningfully reduce portfolio pressure Why engineers and analytical types often need better data to trust they're "done" How Bill is using these ideas to finally get clearer about leaving work sooner . Why are bodies getting smaller while the pressure on women keeps getting bigger? In this honest conversation, Alisa explores the cultural history behind "skinny" and how thinness became more than a body type—it became a value system. From social media and celebrity culture to the rise of GLP-1 medications, she unpacks the modern obsession with shrinking ourselves and asks: how did we get here? For most of human history, thinness was not the ideal. Curvier bodies once represented wealth, health, abundance, and freedom from hard labor. So what changed? Alisa traces the major cultural shifts beginning in the 1700s, when thinness became tied to morality, status, control, and virtue through the influences of classicism, racism, and religious legalism. She also discusses how Enlightenment thinking separated people from their bodies—teaching us to live "from the head up" while distrusting the body God created. This episode isn't about health. It's about the spiritual and emotional roots beneath the desire to be smaller. Along the way, she explores why God delights in diversity. Creation itself reveals a Creator who loves variety—not uniformity. From ecosystems and landscapes to personalities, gifts, and bodies, God's design reflects abundance rather than sameness. What if body diversity wasn't a problem to solve, but part of God's good and intentional design? We also talk about: The intense pressure women face to stay thin The influence of social media and celebrity culture The growing normalization of GLP-1 medications How body ideals have changed throughout history Why God values diversity in His creation, including our bodies What the Bible actually says about gluttony Why behavior change without heart healing never lasts The spiritual chains hidden beneath body obsession Most importantly, she asks the question that culture rarely asks: Who are you becoming? The gospel does not call us to become thinner versions of ourselves. It calls us to become more like Christ. While the world focuses on shrinking bodies, God is concerned with transforming hearts. Freedom begins when we stop measuring our worth by our appearance and start allowing Christ to form His character within us. At the root of every body struggle is a deeper question: What's happening in the heart that's driving the behavior? This episode is a call to a Body Reformation—a reformation of value and worth. The goal is not a smaller body, but a freer heart. Not conformity to culture, but transformation in Christ. Because the question that matters most isn't How do I look? But who am I becoming? What if the biggest difference between someone who starts at 22 and someone who starts at 50 isn't intelligence or income, but simply the moment they finally decide, nobody's coming to save me? In this crossover episode, Bill joins Joel on "How to Money" to tell the brutally honest and surprisingly hopeful truth. He shares his story of becoming financially independent after a 20-year sleepwalk through lifestyle inflation, doctor money mistakes, and zero real financial plan. It's candid, practical, and exactly the kind of episode that makes you stop saying "I'm behind" and start asking "What's my next move?" This episode covers: Bill's late-starter journey from paycheck-to-paycheck doctor to financially independent at 60 How "rich doctor syndrome" and lifestyle inflation can keep high earners broke Why debt, overspending, and delayed gratification derailed his early money life The wake-up call that came from burnout, a malpractice lawsuit, and turning 50 How downsizing, geo-arbitrage, and a higher savings rate changed everything Why savings rate matters more than most people realize for late starters How to think about debt payoff versus investing when you feel behind Why college funding, generational wealth, and retirement planning are all connected How Bill thinks about using a financial advisor after a long DIY phase Why financial independence is really about buying back time, autonomy, and health . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
What if the thing keeping you from Financial Independence (FI) isn't your income, your portfolio, or your math. It's probably the quiet belief that you still need "one more year" when you actually don't. Our guest on this episode is Aubrey Williams, a former particle physicist, radar-tech leader, debt-slayer, and now advice-only financial planner. In this conversation, he flips some of the FI community's favorite assumptions on their head. This is the first of a 2-part episode with Aubrey so be sure to follow the podcast to be notified of the second part of this fascinating conversation. This episode covers: How Aubrey rebuilt after divorce and $90,000 of debt Why savings rate is nonlinear and more powerful than most people realize How a higher savings rate can erase working years faster than expected Why our brains are wired for survival, not modern investing and retirement decisions How to build evidence that you can safely spend instead of just hoard Why living smaller can sometimes create more freedom and more joy How Aubrey reached FI in high-cost Santa Barbara without leaving California Why the FI community itself often knows more than the average advisor The difference between fee-based, fee-only, flat-fee, and hourly advice Why Aubrey believes many FI people are still working too long . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
FROM THE VAULT with Bob Goff: ✅ Why hovering over your family is one of the most important things you can do as a dad ✅ How to leave behind treasures your kids will discover long after you are gone ✅ The courage it takes to quit something that no longer fits and start fresh ✅ What Bob learned from his friends at San Quentin about feeding the people around you SUMMARY There are around 8 billion people alive right now, and there have been 107 billion who came before us. That context changes everything about how you spend today with your kids. In this From the Vault conversation, Bob Goff returns to talk about hovering over your family the way God hovered over the earth, leaving behind treasures your kids will discover for years to come, and finding the courage to make bold moves when something in your life needs to change. Bob shares why being fully present matters more than providing, how to live a "no capes" kind of life, and why the small moments will be the bookmarks your kids carry forever. TAKEAWAYS The kind of grandfather you want to be will be a byproduct of the kind of dad you are right now. Hovering over each person in your family means asking what they uniquely need that only you could provide. Living a "no capes" life means doing meaningful things without making a big deal about them. Your family needs you fully present far more than they need what you provide. When something in your life stops fitting, having the courage to quit and start fresh can change everything. GUEST Bob Goff is the bestselling author of Love Does, Everybody Always, Dream Big, and Undistracted, along with several children's books co-written with his daughter Lindsey. He is the founder of Love Does, a nonprofit that operates schools and safe houses for children in conflict zones around the world. Bob and his wife, Sweet Maria, live in San Diego and spend much of their time at The Oaks, where they host gatherings for dreamers and world changers. They have three grown children and several grandchildren. Quotes "The kind of grandfather you want to be will be a byproduct of the kind of dad that you are." — Bob Goff "Hover over each person in your family. What does kid number one need that I could only uniquely provide them?" — Bob Goff "What your family really needs you to provide is you, like, fully present." — Bob Goff "Sometimes the familiar will get in the way of what's actually possible." — Bob Goff "Everybody doesn't get a slice, but everybody's fed." — Bob Goff Links Join the DadAwesome Prayer Team: Text "pray" to (651) 370-8618 Send a Voice Message to DadAwesome Apply to join the next DadAwesome Accelerator Cohort Subscribe to DadAwesome Messages: Text the word "Dad" to (651) 370-8618 Send a Voice Message to DadAwesome 7-Day Video Series: dadawesome.org/book DadAwesome Podcast: dadawesome.org/podcast Free Chapter + Intro Video Series: dadawesome.org/book Apply to join the next DadAwesome Accelerator Cohort: Email awesome@dadawesome.org Subscribe to DadAwesome Messages: Text "Dad" to (651) 370-8618 Dad Awesome book: dadawesome.org/book https://www.bobgoff.com/ Bob's BOOKS
This week, the Regular Joe's take a look at two Disney+ series about men in red and black. Or one guy who wears red and black, and another who is red and black. Maul Shadow Lord, we're not supposed to call him Darth Maul anymore, gives further dimension to a Star Wars character most thought was out of the picture 27 years ago. Who knew getting bisected isn't necessarily fatal. Shadow Lord is an animated series that is clearly not for kids, but it's also clearly awesome. Daredevil Born Again's sophomore season more than corrected the numerous shortcomings of the first. It's been extremely well received by critics and fans alike, giving viewers a whole lot more of what they were looking for - unless like Barry and Dave you're looking for something a little different. What if today's workout helped you see yourself the way God does? In this movement episode, Alisa Keeton reminds you that this workout is a gift—not an obligation. You don't have to do this. You've worked twice as hard to catch up on your path to financial independence, so why leave your legacy to chance? To help keep your FI plan from going up in smoke we sit down with estate planning and small business attorney, Allison Harrison. It's a fast, funny and slightly alarming deep dive into estate planning for normal people who assume they're "not rich enough" to need one. This episode covers: Why your FI plan is incomplete without basic estate planning The real cost, delay, and public exposure that can come with probate Why many people think they need a trust when they actually don't When a trust does make sense, especially for control and complex family situations The simplest ways to avoid probate using beneficiaries and transfer-on-death designations Why healthcare and financial powers of attorney matter just as much as a will Estate-planning blind spots for small-business owners and side hustlers The role of umbrella insurance, LLCs, and business agreements in protecting your assets Why digital accounts, passwords, and two-factor authentication are now part of estate planning What parents of newly minted 18-year-olds need to handle before college or adulthood begins . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===

What do you do when your accountant brain knows the numbers, your life blows up anyway, and the answer turns out to be halfway around the world in a weird little movement called FIRE? We head to New Zealand to talk with Bronwyn Candish, a chartered accountant, community builder, and one of the clearest Kiwi voices in financial independence movement. She talks to us about starting over after divorce, rebuilding from the middle, and discovering that "doing money right" has a lot less to do with credentials than with courage, alignment, and actually taking action. This episode covers: Growing up with scarcity in New Zealand and how that shaped Bronwyn's money mindset Why being an accountant did not automatically make her good with money Lifestyle creep, overbuying on housing, and drifting into paycheck-to-paycheck living Divorce as a financial wake-up call in her late 30s How Bronwyn found FIRE through a random article and went deep down the rabbit hole The role of KiwiSaver, housing, and DIY culture in the New Zealand version of FI Why community and accountability matter so much on the journey How Bronwyn turned her accounting practice into a FIRE-adjacent coaching space The creation of Black Friday and the growth of the Kiwi FIRE community What it looks like to be "mid-journey" and still deeply love the path . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
You probably think you're closer to your daughter than she'd say you are. The research keeps proving it. Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield is back with the question every dad of daughters should ask this week: ✅ The zero to ten question that closes the closeness gap ✅ Why one word of affirmation revives what looked dead ✅ A five senses experiment to pursue her on purpose ✅ Jeff opening up about missing it with his four year old the night before MOM AWESOME CHALLENGE > Text MOM to (651) 370-8618 // or click here SUMMARY Most dads think they're closer to their daughters than they actually are. Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield has spent 30 years sitting with dads and daughters in the gap between, and she came on DadAwesome to say it plain: your words water her dry soul, your anger can wipe out nine good days, and pursuit is the muscle every dad has to keep building. This is part one of a two part conversation, and Jeff brings a real story from the night before about missing it with his four year old. TAKEAWAYS Pursuit is not a season. It does not end at the wedding or the hospital room. Your daughter and your wife need to be pursued today. Ask your daughter the zero to ten question. Where would you rank our closeness, is that the number you want, and what can I do to be a better dad to you. Your words land like water on dry soil. One sentence of affirmation can revive what looked dead four days ago. Your anger will do more to shut her down than almost anything else. Repair every rupture. Run the five senses experiment. Notice what you see in her, listen one minute longer than yesterday, tie smell to memory, speak one word of life, and give safe physical touch on purpose. GUEST Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield is a licensed counselor, speaker, and the host of The Dad Whisperer Podcast. She founded The Abba Project in 2010, a group coaching experience for dads of daughters, and has written two books for fathers: Dad, Here's What I Really Need from You and Let's Talk. QUOTES "Your words are like water to her dry soul. She will spring forth with beauty and color and life with your words." "You can do nine things right and one anger response can wipe it out. You've got to make repair for the rupture." "Every one of us as women have a God given place in us that wants to be seen, adored, championed, celebrated." "Ask your daughter on a scale of zero to ten, where would you rank us? What can I do better?" "What you see, she doesn't see. By pursuing and seeing and knowing us, we internalize it." What if the biggest shift in your FI journey isn't hitting the number—but finally realizing you need a life plan, a tax plan, and maybe even a fiduciary teammate to help you spend it? Bill steps into the guest chair with Morningstar's Christine Benz for a thoughtful, surprisingly candid conversation about going from financially illiterate "rich doctor syndrome" to fully conscious wealth stewardship. He walks through the entire arc. But this episode goes deeper than a standard "how I retired" story. This episode covers: ➡️ Bill's path from paycheck-to-paycheck physician to financially independent late starter ➡️ How childhood money scripts and "rich doctor syndrome" shaped his early financial mistakes ➡️ Why the Great Financial Crisis and burnout became a wake-up call ➡️ What changed when Bill moved from financial consumer to conscious wealth steward ➡️ Why accumulation can be DIY—but decumulation often gets more complex ➡️ How Bill searched for a fiduciary, flat-fee, life-planning-oriented advisor ➡️ Why risk parity appealed to him for retirement and sequence-of-returns protection ➡️ The role of a modern advisor as behavioral buffer, tax strategist, and cognitive-risk safeguard ➡️ Why FI gave Bill leverage to redesign work instead of just quit cold turkey ➡️ How Bill is thinking about legacy, living giving, and helping the next generation now, not just later . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
What if today's workout didn't start with effort—but with rest? In this episode, Alisa Keeton invites you to begin by receiving. Take a breath. Turn your palms up. This isn't a "have to." It's an invitation. Let this message move from your head into your bones. Start from Rest So much of our frustration—our lack of joy and abundance—comes from forgetting how to live from rest. We treat the body like a problem to fix. But your body is part of how you connect with God. It matters to the Kingdom. Move with Ease As you move, carry an ease in your body. There is a rhythm of the Spirit many of us haven't yet experienced—so today, we step into it. Not forcing. Just flowing. Body + Nervous System Movement engages your nervous system—your gas pedal and your brake. Which one are you pressing most? Where might God be inviting you to slow down? Today's Scripture
This message is so powerful, we're bringing it back—so move your body while getting the Word of God deep into your heart. Because this kind of truth doesn't just inform you… it transforms you. As you move today, something is happening on the inside. Hope is rising. Truth is taking root. An Invitation to See Differently If you've ever struggled with body image—this episode is for you. Alisa Keeton guides you through an endurance workout designed to help you shake off old perspectives and step into what is true about your body. Not what culture says. Not what the mirror says. But what God says. This is your invitation to fix your heart on good news. Today's Scripture
