Neil explains how he aims to protect time, for colleagues to use it for them as a whole person, not just their role at work. From a virtual commute to “Leave me the cluck alone” time, Neil describes examples of how KFC puts this in to practice for colleagues to manage their work and wellbeing. Neil also discusses KFC's role in creating social mobility, and gives us a sneak peek into their pilot of a fantastic new programme, Hatch, that provides pre-employment training and support, creating a safe, calm and proactive path into employability. We’ve been threatening to have an email / listener show for a while so we thought this would be a good opportunity to do that in a short show, of course it didn’t quite work out that way. A super long Mike solo show with emails from Robert Jamieson (IG jamrobert) and Ian Christie (IG the_mr_christie) and reading of the 300th episode Mega Prizapalooza Love Fest giveaway entries as well as announcing listener donations to other listeners in the contest. Also, a segment recorded with Neil Piper of the Soot and Whitewash podcast (IG neil_piper, IG sootandwhitewash, IG projectboxcamera, FB Group 126 Shooters) to catch up with him after obtaining his master's degree in photography and new projects he has started. Finally, a film love package Mike received from Anthony Joseph Colvin, and thanks to the people that voted for him and this podcast in the Sunny 16 2019 Sunnies Awards. Finally, Mike talks about his reasons for starting a Ko-Fi donation page for the podcast and thanks the amazing community for helping him out with equipment issues. This community is amazing and huge thanks to everyone that donated funds to make the production of this podcast run a bit smoother.
Mike gets a black friday deal on the Impossible I-1 Camera, reads emails from Gregory Parker (IG greg.parker.photography) about getting good blacks on HP Instant Ink Printers, Toni Skokovic (IG junctionrails) about the podcast, Kevin Dillon (IG ricoh_shooter) about prints through Winkflash, Daniel Novak (IG danielnovakphoto, www.danielnovakphoto.com) sends a donation from the profits of the 135mm Project Zine to the podcast, and Neil Piper of the Soot and Whitewash Podcast (IG neil_piper, IG sootandwhitewash) sends a call in about his new Facebook group "126 Shooters". Next, we have a call in from Malcolm Myers (IG photovalve) about the photographer, Don McCullin. Finally, Mike talks about how documenting your life is important even if it is on a crappy camera!
#19 An Odyssey with John Boyce (Mr De Vere) Just Simon and Andrew “live in the studio” this week with a recorded interview that Andrew did with John Boyce owner of Odyssey De Vere (Large format enlargers if you are unfamiliar). Despite the lack of “live” guest we still manage to ramble on for a fair while so hang in there till you get to the inaugural LFPP Outside Broadcast (OK it will get better). Thanks to Neil Piper for the loan of his digital recorder, it’s probably something we ought to get for future use as the chat was a lot of fun. Things we chatted about on the show Andrew talked about his mini exhibition of Fenland prints and how he hopes to use liquid emulsion on watercolour paper for this – here are some useful links and a note of the book Andrew spoke about https://www.theimagingwarehouse.com/Products/Liquid-Photo-Emulsion/ARBM33 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silver-Gelatin-Liquid-Photographic-Emulsions/dp/1902538153 We chatted about Bromoil process and Simon reference a series of YouTube videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Bromoil/featured Simon and his pals at the Six Towns Darkroom Club in Stoke on Trent were recently gifted some paper and it included some lovely Oriental Seagull FB paper which is no longer available. This led on to a discussion about Lith Printing and Andrew ran through the basic process and mentioned a few helpful sites The Master who is Tim Rudman http://www.timrudman.com/ Get on Tim’s mailing list for news about current “lithable” papers http://www.timrudman.com/mailing_list The go-to site for lith materials and info (and Bromoil by the way) is Wolfgang Moersch https://www.moersch-photochemie.de/content/shop/negativ/36/lang:en To see beautiful examples of Wolfgang’s work check out his Flikr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolfgang_moersch/ We had some emails Joachim Gross sent links to the company in Germany where he bought his lovely wooden tripod https://www.berlebach.de/?bereich=details&id=266&sprache=english and https://www.berlebach.de/?sprache=english Simon mentioned he was given a Paterson Orbital print processor and Andrew mentioned the daylight tray being developed by Stearman Press https://shop.stearmanpress.com/blogs/news/the-sp-8x10-status Eventually…….. we lead in to just under an hour of discussion with John Boyce of Odyssey Devere – Now Simon refused to edit this to cover up for Andrew’s ineptness but hang in there as John is a lovely guy and we had a wonderful chat John’s Link http://odyssey-sales.co.uk/ LFPP links - https://largeformatphotographypodcast.podbean.com/ ko-fi.com/largeformatphotographypodcast You can join in the fun at our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/2296599290564807/ Get Twitter updates for the show from Andrew – https://twitter.com/warboyssnapper Or from Simon – https://twitter.com/simonfor Email feedback, ideas and questions for the podcast largeformatphotographypodcast@gmail.com Podcast Hosts Social Media presence Simon Forster www.classiclensespodcast.com www.simonforsterphotographic.co.uk https://stores.ebay.co.uk/itsfozzyphotography https://www.flickr.com/photos/125323761@N07/ https://www.facebook.com/SimonForsterPhotographic/ https://www.instagram.com/simonforsterphotographic/ https://twitter.com/SimonFor Andrew Bartram https://anchor.fm/thelenslesspodcast https://andrewbartram.wordpress.com https://www.instagram.com/warboyssnapper https://www.imstagram.com/warboyssnapper_pinholes https://www.flickr.com/photos/warboyssnapper/ https://twitter.com/warboyssnapper
Apologies to anyone who expected this show to be released on the 21st of October, our usual release date (not that any of you actually notice we release on the 7th and 21st of each month); it was delayed due to Graham updating his computer to MacOS 10.15 and Audacity (audio editing) not updating their software to work with MacOS 10.15. He had to scramble a bit to find a computer with the old operating system but find one he did and here's the result. Ethan has gone off for a European Vacation so Nick and Graham, left to their own devices come up with a show about... 90 minutes in length. They open the show with a discussion of modified Holgas and how to determine the frame sizes on slit masks and then move on to a chat about the interaction between elements in a photograph is the foundation of an interesting image. Then, to completely annoy Simon, Perry and Johnny of the Classic Lenses Podcast (https://www.classiclensespodcast.com/), they talk about using modern cheap manual focus lenses that have been designed to go on modern digital autofocus cameras for homemade film cameras. These lenses are excellent and cheap (did we mention cheap?) and, once a shutter system is devised, can create a competent camera build. Nick bought a 100 year-old Kodak Panoram camera from an antique store and the design of its swing-lens opens up possibilities. If you don't know about the Panoram, here's Mike Ekman's page on it: (https://www.mikeeckman.com/2016/10/kodak-no-1-panoram-kodak-1900-1926/). The Nodal Point issue is also discussed and here's a reference on that: (http://www.hugha.co.uk/NodalPoint/Index.htm) Graham thanks Neil Piper of the Soot and Whitewash podcast (https://anchor.fm/neil-piper) for reviewing the 24Squared which could be back on the market in a few weeks.

The community pitch was submitted by Neil Piper. Our theme song is "Hello World." by PROTODOME from the album BLUENOISE.
