She was a senior leader. She had navigated mergers, built teams, managed multimillion-dollar transitions. And then she stood in a meeting she had prepared for, in a room she had sat in a hundred times — and couldn't find the word. Not a complicated word. A word she had used ten thousand times. It was just gone. She didn't say anything. She pivoted. She stayed composed. And then she went to her car and sat there, because something felt different in a way she couldn't name. That experience has a name. It's perimenopause — and almost no one in the organizational world is talking about it. In this first episode of the Transitions series, host Stacie takes us inside one of the most significant and most ignored neurological events in women's working lives. What perimenopause actually does to the prefrontal cortex, the hippocampus, and the HPA axis. Why neuroimaging research on the menopausal brain didn't exist until 2021. What the cognitive fog, the 3am wakeups, and the emotional reactivity are actually signals of — and why none of it is failure. And then: what it costs when organizations stay silent. The 900,000 women estimated to have left the UK workforce because of menopausal symptoms. The CIPD data showing two-thirds of affected women say it impacted their work — and more than half told no one. The intersection of perimenopause and imposter syndrome that no one has named out loud. This is not a clinical episode. It's not a complaint. It's an argument — backed by neuroimaging research, longitudinal population studies, and lived experience — that perimenopause is not a personal health issue an employee should manage alone. It's an organizational design problem. And the organizations that understand that will be the ones worth returning to.   Stacie For more episodes, visit StacieBaird.com.

Restore Your Life: The Darien Guide to Healing Peripheral Neuropathy  Claim your free copy of the Precision Nerve Reset Program- click hereThe Precision Nerve Reset program, developed by Neuropathy@CoreHealth, is a comprehensive, multi-modal treatment strategy designed to address the root causes of peripheral neuropathy rather than simply masking its symptoms. Moving away from traditional reliance on pain medications, which often serve as temporary stop-gaps, the program utilizes a scientifically grounded roadmap to revitalize the nervous system and restore quality of life for those suffering from numbness, chronic pain, and instability. The Three Pillars of Nerve HealthThe foundation of the Precision Nerve Reset program is built upon three essential "pillars" required for nerve regeneration:Metabolic Fueling: This pillar focuses on providing the body with the necessary clinical-grade nutritional support (such as NeurX-TF) to create an optimal physiological environment for healing.Structural Repair: This involves using advanced regenerative technologies to physically address the damage within the nervous system and surrounding tissues.Neurological Re-education: This stage focuses on stimulating the nerves to restore their normal firing thresholds, ensuring they communicate correctly with the brain.Advanced Clinical TechnologiesA hallmark of the program is its integration of cutting-edge, clinical-grade technologies. These tools are used in-office to kickstart the healing process:Shockwave Therapy: Used to trigger the body's natural repair mechanisms and improve blood flow to damaged areas.Infrared Light Therapy: This technology helps dilate blood vessels, ensuring that a consistent supply of oxygen and nutrients reaches the peripheral nerves on a daily basis.Stimpod NMS460: A specialized device used for non-invasive neuromodulation to help reset and "re-educate" damaged nerves.Dr. Brian McKay a chiropractor at Core Health DarienThis podcast welcomes your feedback here are several ways to reach out to me. We also dig into Ireland's unique context—an agile, open economy balancing flexible work with rising commute costs—and how that shapes retention, skills development, and the everyday realities of leading teams.A major focus is capability building beyond HR. With a vast population of non-HR people managers in SMEs, CIPD's group affiliate access and AI-powered resource hub equip managers with templates, playbooks, and just-in-time guidance for performance reviews, tough conversations, and change. We spotlight the Feb 13th CIPD HR Awards in Ireland, where standout entries demonstrate data-driven baselines, measurable impact, and sustained outcomes—and note the streamlined pathway to the global People Management Awards. Plus, we preview the April conference on people, purpose, and performance, featuring case studies, international voices, and practical tools you can put to work.If you care about building resilient teams, narrowing skills gaps, and turning culture into a real performance advantage, you'll find tactics and examples you can use today. This episode is Part 2 of Stephanie's conversation with Peter Ferrigno. For the full conversation, make sure you listen to Part 1 before you begin this episode. In Part 2 of this conversation, I'm joined again by Peter Ferrigno, a UK expat tax veteran (CTA, FCA, CIPD) whose career spans Big Four leadership, immigration and relocation, and hands-on advisory across Europe. Peter has lived the expat life himself—Poland, the Czech Republic, and now Spain—so he understands the human side of cross-border moves as much as the numbers. We get practical about how residency and citizenship planning intersects with tax. We talk candidly about “Plan B” residencies, why some clients only need clarity rather than action, and where the Ireland–UK rules can be optimised (or tripped over!) if you don't plan ahead. We also cover Americans relocating to the UK after the abolition of the remittance basis and how the new foreign income & gains regime can be used in the first four years. Peter shares sensible guardrails for digital nomads (including a risk-based approach to day counting), the difference between income tax and VAT sourcing on remote advice, and why long-range planning needs flexibility when life and legislation change. The key thing to note here is: if you're serious about changing tax residence, you actually have to move - company structures alone won't save you and Peter can be the right person to lean on if you need support.Main Topics Discussed in this Episode:Residency and Citizenship Planning at Henley & Partners: Peter explains how tax advice integrates into residency and citizenship planning, especially for clients seeking a “Plan B” residency for flexibility or future relocation options.Cross-Border Planning Between Ireland and the UK: We discuss how careful timing and awareness of residency rules can prevent unintended tax exposure when moving between Ireland and the UK, and why long-term planning needs to stay adaptable.U.S. Citizens Moving to the UK Post-Remittance Basis: Peter outlines the implications for Americans relocating to the UK following the abolition of the remittance basis, and how the UK's new foreign income and gains regime offers short-term opportunities.Digital Nomads and Global Mobility Challenges: We unpack the realities of digital nomadism—how tax treaties and day-count rules apply when you work remotely across borders, and why a risk-based, practical approach is essential. The Human Side of Expat Tax Advice: Peter reflects on his decades in international tax, sharing why personal connection, empathy, and calm professionalism matter just as much as technical expertise when helping clients navigate major life changes.Get in touch with Peter Ferrigno:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterferrigno1Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/peter.ferrigno/Chapters:(00:00) Welcome & Introduction(00:33) How Tax Fits into Residency and Citizenship Planning(01:45) When Clients Need Clarity, Not Action(03:18) Navigating Residency Rules Between Ireland and the UK(05:16) Long-Term Tax Planning and Timing Moves(06:00) The Myth of “Tax-Free” Moves and Corporate Structures(07:00) Plan B Residencies and Citizenship for Families(09:04) U.S. Citizens Moving to the UK and the End of the Remittance Basis(12:07) Competing Tax Regimes and Attracting High-Net-Worth Individuals(12:52) The Rise of Digital Nomads and Remote Working Challenges(17:34) Practical...

HR professionals play a unique role within organisations but often find themselves in morally challenging or conflicting situations. These challenges may include balancing business needs—such as managing large-scale redundancies—while also supporting individuals through deeply personal difficulties and absorbing the emotional weight that entails. Over time, this toll can increase the risk of exhaustion, ultimately leading to burnout. Join Nigel Cassidy and this month's guests—Amy McKeown, an award-winning health, mental health, and wellbeing strategist and consultant, and Rachel Suff, Senior Policy and Practice Adviser for Employee Relations at the CIPD—as we explore the often-hidden emotional burden of working in HR and why setting boundaries is essential for maintaining wellbeing in the profession.

In a world where skills gaps are widening and job demands are evolving at unprecedented rates, understanding how to gain a "skills advantage" is critical for organizations to stay competitive. In this episode, Anish Lalchandani, author of The Skills Advantage, delves into his insights on bridging skills gaps, building resilient teams, and preparing organizations for the future. Anish walks us through his approach, discussing how the right skills strategy can shift a team from good to exceptional and position L&D as a driver of business transformation. Whether you're a leader looking to upskill your team or an L&D professional aiming to create a sustainable skills strategy, this conversation is packed with actionable insights. KEY TAKEAWAYS The established approach to L&D is no longer enough. L&D needs to go beyond business alignment and take the lead in equipping our businesses to thrive in the future. You don´t have the wrong people, they have the wrong skills. Employees need to be convinced that upskilling benefits them and the business. A huge proportion of executive transitions fail, and we need to address this. What is going on in the market and industry helps you identify future skill needs. Use technology to help with your data analysis and become more agile. When you demonstrate impact, you get permission to do more. BEST MOMENTS “The established approach to L&D is no longer enough.” “Reskilling is a long-term game, start now.” “We need to hold ourselves accountable to actual upskilling and not just providing learning.” “You don´t have the wrong people, they have the wrong skills.” “The risk of relying on firing and hiring is extraordinary.” Anish Lalchandani Bio Anish Lalchandani is the author of the book ‘The Skills Advantage: A Human-Centered, Sustainable and Scalable Approach to Reskilling’. Having held leadership roles at leading firms like A.P. Moller Maersk (current), General Electric, Standard Chartered Bank and other organizations, he has developed extensive expertise in Talent, OD, Leadership and HR Strategy. In addition to being a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, he is also a certified professional coach and mentor to start-up founders. Several publications, including Economic Times, Thinkers360, LeadersHum and HRD, rate him as one of the top influencers in HR and the Future of Work.
