Navigate the midnight hours of life and faith with profound wisdom from author Aubrey Sampson, Enneagram 4 (4-7 pairing), as we discover what we actually find in spiritual darkness through Aubrey's soul-wrenching journey of losing her best friend Jen and encountering the "dark night of the soul." Learn why spiritual dryness isn't failure but invitation, how to support others through their darkest seasons without trying to fix them, and why some of our most profound encounters with God happen when He feels most absent. Aubrey offers honest hope for anyone walking through grief, spiritual darkness, or seasons when faith feels impossible - showing how the midnight hours can become places of sacred encounter rather than spiritual failure. Based on her book "What We Find in the Dark," this conversation provides hard-won wisdom for finding God's presence in the very places where He seems most hidden. Watch on YouTube! What do we do with the secrets that keep us hidden in shame and despair? How do we tell our story in such a way that we can experience the true freedom that God has for us?For author, entrepreneur, and founder of Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Anne Beiler, the pain that came after losing a child in a tragic accident and the abuse she experienced at the hands of someone who should have helped her in her suffering, left her despairing and empty. It was only when she brought her secrets out of the dark and into the light that she was set free from the bondage of shame and pain that were set on destroying her. She shares her journey in her latest book, The Secret Lies Within: An Inside Out Look at Overcoming Trauma and Finding Purpose in the Pain. In this tender conversation, Aubrey sits with Anne to talk about how the Holy Spirit can help us in our suffering, the power that is found in sharing our painful secrets, and how to let go of the shame that grips us. If you've ever found yourself drowning in the shame of a secret from your past, this episode will encourage you to find a safe person to share your pain with and experience the freedom of being known and bringing the darkness into the light. How do we heal a marriage that has been broken by betrayal? Is it even possible to move past the shame and condemnation that can come after choices that harm our closest relationship? There was a time when author and podcaster Jill Savage could not see a road to redemption after her husband, Mark, then a pastor, had an affair and was ready to end their marriage. Through what can only be described as the work of God in Mark's heart, their marriage was healed and they stayed together after betrayal. But, the road to that place was not easy. It was full of heartache and shame that threatened to end their relationship. Mark says it was only when he was able to fully surrender to the Lord that true healing came. Now, the couple coaches others who are walking through a similar pain story and have written several books and resources to help couples whose marriages are at a breaking point. In this episode, Davey talks with Mark and Jill about how to love a spouse when it feels impossible, the incredible power of surrender, and the difference between condemnation vs. conviction. Whether your marriage is on the brink of divorce or you are working through shame over a past sin, this conversation will help you find a way through the emotions that can keep us stuck, hurting our most precious relationships, and into hope and healing. Bonus Episode: Check out this episode from our newest podcast, What We Find in the Dark with host Aubrey SampsonWhen we find ourselves in the dark after loss, big questions often follow: Where is God now? Why can't I see Him here? Why can't we sense His presence? How can I trust that God is good? And we need a guide to help us find answers in the dark.In this first episode of the What We Find in the Dark Podcast, join host Aubrey Sampson and her guest, pastor and author Glenn Packiam, as they uncover what exactly entails a dark night of the soul, the questions that can emerge after a season of loss and grief, and why wrestling with God in our biggest questions is so important. What happens to our relationship with God in the midst of suffering? How do we stay connected to Jesus when we are walking through pain?Author John Eldredge has been guiding people through practices that can help keep us in union with Christ, especially when the pain of life threatens to erode our connection. He has seen the ways in which the enemy will attempt to break our spirit and discourage us and how Christ longs to bring hope and healing to our souls. He has taken these lessons from his own life, throughout his counseling career and ministry, and what he sees now as a spiritual father to many and has written a book called Experience Jesus. Really: Finding Refuge, Strength, and Wonder through Everyday Encounters with God. In it, he shares habits and spiritual practices that will offer readers the refuge of experiencing deep, lasting, real communion with Jesus. In this insightful episode, Davey and John talk about how we can begin to let go the weight of our cares and entrust them to God, the ways in which our agreements with the lies of the enemy can prolong our suffering, and why we need daily reminders of truth as we heal. If you struggle to stay connected to Jesus in times of pain and heartache, this conversation will teach you ways that you can reconnect with the one who wants to bring you hope and healing. On a spring morning in 2017, a mother of three in Evansville, Indiana logged onto Facebook and noticed a story in her news feed that made her heart start to race. Just a couple of hours earlier, the body of a young woman was found in a field one town over – and police had no clue who the young woman was. The physical description was vague, but it matched all three of the woman's daughters. So right away, she picked up her phone and began trying to reach them, to make sure each of them was okay. Her two youngest girls replied within minutes, but the oldest one of them did not. And with every minute that passed without a word from her oldest daughter, the woman became more and more frantic until she reached out to a friend of hers on the police force. And what she soon would learn, before the morning became afternoon, would change her family's life forever... and change the course of two separate police investigations. For 100s more stories like these, check out our main YouTube channel just called "MrBallen" -- https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBallenIf you want to reach out to me, contact me on Instagram, Twitter or any other major social media platform, my username on all of them is @mrballenSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
