We're Celebrating this month, looking forward - or is it back? - to Celebration Japan, and the Oriental adventures of Jason and Spoons. Our special interview guest is Zia Rezvi, a Twickenham based collector, and an all round great guy. Rich delves deep into his collecting habits and his love for a galaxy far, far away. Otherwise, in a packed show, the lads sort out Disney's upcoming Star Wars programming, tell all about their growing collections, and debate this month's selections in the Action Playset Face-Off. Andy P has a Top quiz - but who will come up Trumps? And, the team highlights the best new acquisitions from around the collecting world. The Rebel Briefings section brings reports from Redditch, anticipation for Tokyo, and Chris's collectable coins. We look forward to an upcoming Palitoy publication, and note the passing of a Leamington toy shop legend. Licensee this month is short and sweet, as we take a brief look at British company Trebor, and their Chewy treats. All this mixed with the usual stuff and nonsense, look for the podcast in the usual places.
Host Meg Wolitzer presents three stories by contemporary Japanese writers that were featured during a live program created in collaboration with the Japan Society. Each touches on the idea of letting go. In “Hawaii,” Aoko Matsuda imagines a afterlife for garments. It's read by Maria Dizzia. In “Sunrise,” by Erika Kobayashi, a woman's life parallels the world of nuclear power. The reader is Rita Wolf. And Hugh Dancy meets a mermaid in Hiromi Kawakami's “I Won't Let You Go.”

Turning Japanese season finale? Damn right it is. And this week on the show, it's a reunion!Last week we got the full debrief from Stevie Boy. This week it's time for him to pose the questions as he sits down with his Tokyo travelling pals, Derek Martin and Paul Stoddart. Was Steven talking crap about the bogs? Was he havering pish about the egg sandos? Was marathon day even really that warm? Derek and Paul fact check it all.We hear from the candid duo all about their own time in Japan. Like Steven, both were making a first visit to the country, a light hearted look at the insights, observations and thoughts ensues. Even their personal marathon day race experiences are covered in reasonable detail! With one of them also completing their 6 Star World Marathon Major quest and the other edging towards completion we cover their own global trek to collect the stars. We finish up finding out what lies ahead for Cumbernauld Amateur Athletics Club's intrepid pair. And on that note we conclude Season 12. We've fair clocked up the air miles and in Season 13 we best go some way to off-setting that, right? Pit yir seatbelts on we'll be back in a jiffy. Sayonara....for now.

Here I go again, Bivol the magnificent, reading the signs, the tragedy of the five seasons, viddy well little brother, beer is overrated, a new drug on the horizon, an epic dig from Johnny Carson, I'm big in Paris, the rhythm method, the genius of Michel Legrand, the amazing Agnes Varda, a goofy ass yet enjoyable Pierce Brosnan curio, it's all about the traction, more made up quotes, and some wisdom from George Carlin. Sayonara Japan. In this episode of the Dare to Dream podcast, I (Vinny) reflect on my transformative two and a half years living in Japan as I prepare to leave the country. I share my experiences of decluttering life as I pack up, the joy of simplicity, and the emotions tied to saying goodbye to meaningful possessions and friendships. Expect to learn about the unique cultural aspects of Japan, particularly my profound love for the konbini (convenience store), which serve as a vital part of Japanese daily life. I also reminisce about cherished memories with best friends and the immense impact this journey has had on my personal growth. This season culminates with a transformative chapter in Tokyo, what I've called my ‘Phoenix era.' This includes my struggles with chronic pain and how I discovered the mind-body connection that has led to healing. Through therapy and self-reflection, I've learned to embrace vulnerability and honor the full breadth of my emotions. This moment is incredibly bittersweet. But this is the life I've chosen, full of goodbyes, new beginnings, and continual exploration of both the inner and outer worlds.
