The guys check in with the Cybermen to see what they're up to. It turns out, they are mainly up to assimilating all organic matter into their single-minded robotic existence. So, you know, normal stuff.

A quarter million years in the future (not that we're explicitly told that), The Doctor, Clara, and her two wards (remember Clara's nanny phase?) land on a theme park planet that's certainly seen better days! Things quickly go south as Cybermites kickstart the long-dead Cybermen on display and a high-paced, high-stakes story ensues! We discuss Nightmare in Silver...did this 2013 episode improve with age? What did we think of these more Borg-like Cybermen? And has the psychic paper become as much of a story-telling crutch as the sonic sometimes is? Join us as we talk about all that and more!

What ever happened to Quicksilver anyway? In about twenty years I’m hoping to buy Disneyland. Why, you might ask? Because I want to rebuild it in our image. I want to build an entire Trust Your Doctor themed theme park. We’ll have the Aztecs land, where we just have people walk around dressed as Tegana.Continue reading →

We finish up our picks for the best episode of every season by picking one for each year of the Capaldi era, as well as our favorite from all the specials, Christmas or otherwise. Then we do a deep, deep dive into why "Midnight" is so ludicrously good. We've got a lot of thoughts on this! We have somewhat less to say about "Nightmare In Silver," beyond a begrudging, "Eh, this is fine, basically, but it could have been so, so, so much better." Which, as Allison points out, is somehow worse than it just being outright terrible. And next week the debating continues with a look at "Turn Left" and "Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS"!

It’s the beginning of the next 400 episodes of Radio Free Skaro, and what better way to start off this new era than with talk of Star Wars, weather in Florida, hockey, Tim Hortons and other irrelevant meanderings! The Three Who Rule eventually focused their energies and relayed what little Doctor Who news eked out this week, including such gems as new guests for Gallifrey 2014 (and the lineup for our own live show on Friday, February 14th), the return of friend of the show Phil Ford to Doctor Who, and other assorted newsy morsels. All mere preamble to a commentary recorded this summer at Westercon for "Silver Nemesis". We’re not saying our commentary is good, but rest assured it is better than the story itself, so have a listen to it, won’t you? Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com

A podcast introduction and commentary to the Doctor Who episode first broadcast on 11/05/13. Episode spoilers, obviously, and some scattered swearing from John's side of the room.
MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast returns to discuss Neil Gaiman's "Nightmare in Silver", his long-awaited 2nd Doctor Who episode. How does it measure up to "The Doctor's Wife", as well as the rest of Series 7b? How are the new Cybermen? What kind of clues did we get for our 2 big mysteries: Who is Clara? and Doctor WHO? How does Will do in trivia this week? All questions answered on MSP #51! Take a listen!
The lads get their teeth into Neil Gaimans highly anticipated story, Nightmare In Silver, that promised to make the Cybermen scary again. Well, that is certainly a bold claim and not one that goes unchallenged! Oh no, Phil and Paul have differing views on this weeks episode which leads to Phil having an internal struggle before the leprechaun on his shoulder tells him to burn stuff, while Paul does his best to change Phil's mind only to fail miserably. Phil also takes a moment this week to think of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. A very long moment in fact. There is also a lot of talk about fanwank that could lead to blindness and they also briefly talk about She Said, He Said, the epilogue (yes, epilogue!) to The Name of The Doctor. And in this weeks news, in the absence of any overnight viewing figures for Nightmare In Silver they make some up instead, news on showings for the blu-ray editions of the Peter Cushing Dalek films and in 50th Anniversary news, a photo of Matt Smith that has set tongues wagging and John Hurt lets the cat out of the bag which Phil and Paul talk about. Sort of.
Doctor Who Tin Dog Podcast Reviews Nightmare in silver. More to follow "Nightmare in Silver" will be the twelfth and penultimate episode of the of the British science-fiction drama and is scheduled to be broadcast on 11 May 2013. It was written by and directed by Stephen Woolfenden. The episode will star as the and as. It features the , following their last appearance in the episode "". Production [] Lead writer and executive producer contacted about writing for the series and asked him to make the Cybermen "scary again". Gaiman thought back to classic series serials and (1967) and decided to "take the 1960s Cybermen and [incorporate] everything that's happened since". stated that it was a "thrill" to be in Doctor Who, especially in an episode with the Cybermen written by Gaiman. Moffat stated that the Cybermen were redesigned because they did so often in the classic series, and yet had been consistent in the new series. However the new series Cybermen are to make an appearance in the episode as shown in the trailer for the episode. Some location filming took place in early November 2012 at . During this time, a copy of the readthrough script was found in a taxi in . It was marked as being Eve De Leon Allen's copy and had the working title of "The Last Cyberman", which has since changed. The script was found by Hannah Durham, who posted a picture of the script to Facebook with the caption: "found Dr Who script in the back of a taxi. Cheeky spoilers anyone?" It was then posted to by Dan Rowling with the caption: "Look what a Facebook friend found in a taxi in Cardiff on Monday". Arrangements were then made by Hannah Durham and Dan Rowling to return the script to the BBC. References

Neil Gaiman's second episode of Doctor Who isn't quite as strong as his first, but it's still darn good.
