Reposted from Wax Episodic, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/wax-episodic — Here we go: Fallout! This retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic extravaganza is a collision of humor and terror, charm and gore, propriety and depravity, mystery and adventure, and so much more. It's smartly written, extravagantly produced, and we think the casting is perfect, with Ella Purnell as our uber-plucky hero, and Walton Goggins as our sassy, ghoulish foil. I'm joined by Kasi and Wendy to talk out this first episode, which manages to be entertaining while dropping a ton of detail about this world. Join us as we talk it out! Reposted from Still Slaying: A Buffy-verse podcast which you can find at Still Slaying: a Buffy-verse podcast | Podcastica. Fun, in-depth talk about great TV. “Poor Buffy. Your life resists all things average.” Penny and Sam discuss this plot development heavy episode of Riley's world being turned upside down. The conversation ranges far and wide, covering Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, La Croix, child vampires, 3.5 inch floppy disks, swearing in other languages, the likelihood that the basement smells pretty bad, Sunnydale's real estate market, drug withdrawals, menopause and hormone replacement therapy, and narcissism. Nobody else gets to decide if you feel it. That choice belongs to you.” Penny, Kara and Karen celebrate all things HUNTR/X, talking through the three main characters, the allure of the Saja Boys, the powerful draw of the music, the fun choreography, finding community through shared fandom, inspiring creativity in fans, the deeper meanings hidden behind the bright colors and banging tunes and the power of love in original content. The discussion touches on neurodivergence, generational trauma, the value of a layered film that families can watch and enjoy together (co-viewing), cultural appropriation, K-pop and K-pop culture, Motown and factory music systems, soft power, K-Dramas, voice acting, gender in fandoms, bad boy appeal, shame, toxic fandom, and the intersection of art and commerce. The discussion goes on to include Jiffy Pop, knee replacement, Yahoo Groups, queer representation through the years, Maggie Walsh's voyeurism, team dynamics, evolving gender roles, Buffy's patrolling halter, Aliens, Alien: Earth, and Willow's hairstyling talents. A couple days late, but worth the wait! As we reach the cusp of episode 350, we first look at the Jon Pertwee story Colony in Space. It's a little bit of a middling story, but there are some notable firsts, some great action, and a surprising amount of shoot outs!

Content Warning: Discussion of volence against women in many forms, including sexual violence, forced pregnancy and birth, ….. “Oh, and Baudelaire was actually a little taller and a lot drunker than he's depicted here.” The Scooby Duo gets into some of the serious issues raised in these two episodes. They have the “serious” conversation about exploitation of women and personal thoughts on current events in the US up top. If you'd like to skip to the fun stuff, jump to the 39 minute mark. Then the conversation ranges as usual, through the variety of silliness, like cigarette lighters in cars, vintage cell phones, the beauty of platonic friendship, grappling hooks, rules of demon deals, the power of an English cuppa, hot beverages on The Big Bang Theory, found family, “what's in the box,” Repo Man, Marcellus Wallace, Batman, Entourage, and the male gaze. This time we continue our escape into Classic Doctor Who with the 2nd Doctor adventure The Moonbase! One half animated, one half live action, we find ourselves on the moon in 2070 where a single base with a single Graviton beam is somehow controlling all the weather on Earth! This definitely feels like a situation where redundancies would have been helpful. But the Cybermen are back and poisoning sugar in order to take over the base and let Earth's weather go wacky and kill us all. Yeah, that seems like a strange plan, but at least the Cybermen know that we all love sugar way too much!

Well, folks, The Power of Three. Is it a reference to the strength of the Doctor plus his companions? Is it a reference to the "cubed" nature of our villains tools? Is it just something that sounded good in Chibnall's head as he wrote a rather glossed over story full of exceptional amounts of handwavium? We're not really sure and, as such, that causes this story to land rather awkwardly. Though it does have some good moments (heartwarming ones as well as the introduction of Kate Stewart), we kind of feel a bit meh about this adventure.

It came from beneath the ice!! Yes, sounds like the start of a 50s b-movie where some alien plant pod falls to Earth in the distant past only to be discovered by mankind and have it germinate and try to take over the world. It probably would have some sort of villain who hates mankind so much, he identifies more with the plants than with humans. Gosh, that also sounds exactly like our episode this week!

Ladies and Gents and everyone out there, we are back after basically a month to recover from Ncuti's last episode. And we needed something light, something entertaining and the animated recreation of The Savages fits the bill! Set as something of an allegory on anti-apartheid South Africa, The Savages lets you think one thing early on and then has you wondering who are the "real" savages. It's a very solid story and good animation and a hilarious twist that neither of us saw coming!

I couldn't help but notice that several of our Podcastica hosts have voices that are… let's just say, exceptionally rich and resonant. So I thought—why not get them all together for a fun, laid-back conversation? In this special episode of our usually Patreon-exclusive Listener Chitchat series, I'm joined by four of our deepest-voiced dudes, Erik, Jonathan, Greg, and Alex, to talk podcasting, fandoms, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, and whatever else comes up. It's a relaxed hang with some of the smoothest voices on the network—just for the fun of it.Enjoy!Show support and get ad-free episodes and a bunch of other cool stuff: patreon.com/jasoncabassi Or go to buymeacoffee.com/cabassi for a one-time donation.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We love a good double-entendre alternate title. And that might be one of the only good things about The Reality War. Honestly, folks, we are a positive podcast. We're always looking for the things we like in even the least enjoyable story (Sleep No More...remember?). Well, this one's a struggle. We definitely have some things we liked, but we absolutely have to address where this story leaves us and leaves Doctor Who. Programming Note: We're taking a summer break and will have our next episode out on July 1st.

Oh boy, oh boy friends! Here we are...the penultimate episode of the season! And nothing is as it seems! Yes, sure, there's a bit of set up for what hopefully will be an insane season finale, but that's what penultimate episodes do, right? We've a new god of the Pantheon, we have a easy money-making scheme (selling yellow mugs), we have another surprise face showing up, and we have a very intriguing final line of the episode! What could it all mean?!

Oh boy, friends, do we have a lot to unpack! The Interstellar Song Contest has come and gone. Dugga Doo didn't win. And for that we riot!! Wait, that's not the biggest bit of news from this episode? Oh. Oh yes! There is lots and lots more!! We won't detail out every little bit here because, you know, spoilers. So grab your space age slurpee cups and let's start hashing it out!

The Story and The Engine is a fantastic story. That's it, that's the post. It's well written, it tells a story that we don't really see in Doctor Who, it's amazing to look at, and it provides representation where we really really haven't had it on this show. All of that is fantastic, so you'll hear a lot of that, a couple teeny nitpicks, and a lot of speculation on where this season's end game may be headed!
Well, despite a few bits of logic we just couldn't quite reconcile, we still really enjoyed Lucky Day. Much like last season's Dot and Bubble, we have a good script and a character that's crafted specifically for us to hate him. We have a wrestling-level heel turn mid-episode that just sets us on our back foot for the rest of the adventure. Plus we get some juicy hints as to what's to come in the back half of the season!
Well, we knew Lux was going to be a hard act to follow, but The Well does a bang-up job! And, by that, we mean that it's the entity banging these poor troopers all over the room in that one scene! Yeah, fantastic performances from everyone. More characters that we care about in a short time. And impressive return of a Modern Who monster we didn't really see coming and lots of speculation about possible Pantheon influence and wondering what Mrs Flood's rank is. Let's get at it!
Man, what a season finale! From Pennywise the Dancing Fox to the destructive force of balefire, from Nynaeve's Moana moment to the creepiest corpse I've seen, from Rand dancing on a knife's edge of egomania & madness to the end of two separate years-long relationships of Power-crossed lovers, this was a huge episode.Join Greg and Veronica as they EXTENSIVELY talk about all things "He Who Comes With the Dawn" related, and close out another turning of the Wheel. This is a long one, and we hope you enjoy hearing about it as much as we enjoyed talking about it.Thank you for all of your interaction this season, we will come back when we hear an update to how the next few seasons will go.And due to a technical faux pas, we want to apologize that we are missing a number of comments from a "too early" spoiler thread, so unfortunately we lost those comments to the Black Wind.Check out this podcast and other great shows at podcastica.com.If you would like to leave feedback, you can leave comments on the comment post at facebook.com/podcastica, send an email or voice note to talk@podcastica.com, or leave a voice message for us right there at Podcastica.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

The Hills of Tanchico are alive!!! From the newest catchy TV show song to everyone speaking WAY LOUDER THAN THEY SHOULD, from the Forsaken being disgustingly petty to kinda of, well, easy to take out, to a heartrending scene of power and helplessness, there was a lot to talk about here! And talk we did.Hear Veronica and Greg as they are joined by Cristin's unique perspective as they discuss why some shows deserve (or need) a rewatch, and break down all their likes, dislikes, suspicions, and critiques of the episode! We knew there would be a dropoff, but this episode still had some good stuff! From MORE POWER THAN MOIRAINE EVER DREAMED to Dreamwalking, From Sea Folk to Seasickness, from a bad breakup to being a bad bitch, this episode had quite a bit to talk about.Join Veronica and Greg as they break it down, discussing what they liked, what they didn't, what made sense, and where logic completely broke down. Thanks for all of the feedback, everybody! Boy, it's great to be back in this world! From the opening confrontation to what has to be the worst inn customer service, this episode really delivered on re-establishing the world and our characters place in it. In the White Tower, in the city of Tar Valon, it seems like our heroes will be going their separate ways again.Join Greg and Veronica as they both gush and condemn the season premiere!Check out this podcast and other great shows at podcastica.com.If you would like to leave feedback, you can leave comments on the comment post at facebook.com/podcastica, send an email or voice note to talk@podcastica.com, or leave a voice message for us right there at Podcastica.comRead lessAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Pretty solid end to an entertaining beginning of the season! From sympathy for Liandrin (WHAAAT?!?!) to Mat embracing his fortune, from Perrin "doing what he has to" to Lan not forgetting his father battle, this episode was just as dense with payoffs and lore as the first 3 this season. Join Greg and Veronica as they break it down, answer some questions, posthumously realize their idiocy, and generally enjoy geeking out on the episode.Check out this podcast and other great shows at podcastica.com.If you would like to leave feedback, you can leave comments on the comment post at facebook.com/podcastica, send an email or voice note to talk@podcastica.com, or leave a voice message for us right there at Podcastica.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
