My next guest, Pierre McGuire, has worn many hockey hats over the years. From hockey player to college, then NHL coaching stints, scouting positions, and management assignments, but is probably best known for his TV Broadcasting career with TSN, NBC Sports, and NBC Sports Network, where he's covered the NHL, World Juniors, and the Olympics. He's also been developing players via camps and clinics over the years, and I just so happened to cross paths with this special individual in the mid-'90s when I was with the Ottawa Senators. Super excited to reconnect, as I don't think I've ever met someone who knows more people in the sport of hockey but, more importantly, has at least one detailed story about that person, and we're going to hear a few of them today. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the episode!

We took the show to the park tonight at Rogers Centre ahead of Jays / Phillies. The quick take from Stephen Brunt on the Matt Murray trade is simply "How Did We Get Here?" At this point it feels like there is a massive rolling of the dice. Then a potential nightmare if Jack Campbell were to go and win a cup with The Oilers! Later, the Kikuchi experiment has taken him into the bullpen and we night not see him again as a starter. Finally with Stephen today, Moreno is the odd man out and sent back to Triple A now with Jansen back from injury. Next up (27:00) we speak with Pierre McGuire from SN and most recently an executive with the Ottawa Senators. He looks back at his time with Matt Murray, dealing with him previously as a broadcaster and then while with the Sens. He has long been known as a mature player and Pierre recalls a time that Murray got sent down to the AHL and why he was so impressed with how he took the news. Then right before we break the Sens make another goalie trade as they have acquired Cam Talbot from the Minnesota Wild. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliate.

Franks looks at the Avs walking away from Kuemper, where Jack Campbell ends up, the best spot for Marc Andre Fleury and why teams are still interested in Matt Murray. Then we head to Montreal again where Pierre McGuire joins the show (19:00) and he reminds us that the Canadiens Do know who they are taking. He then goes into how the Sens have decided to go for it this year and how the DeBrincat trade gets them closer to playoffs teams. Later (38:00) we speak with Arash Madani who is just back from Oakland and the Jays losing 2/3 games. We look at the expiration time for Kikuchi. Whether or not Montoyo is on the hot seat and how management needs to make some moves BEFORE they consider firing the manager. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliate.

And will Igor Shesterkin be able to steal games in net like he used to? Next, the New York Islanders surprisingly fired head coach Barry Trotz after an unfortunate season that, honestly, isn't to blame on the head coach. Though Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello isn't the cutting-edge hockey man he used to be, this move is a real stunner and absolutely gifts a team one of the best head coaches in the NHL. Plus, the Ottawa Senators fired Pierre McGuire after less than a year working as the team's senior vice-president of player development. McGuire could very well head back to the broadcasting scene after a likely rift with general manager Pierre Dorion caused the split.
