The Vancouver Canucks officially turned the page by hiring Manny Malhotra as head coach, signalling a commitment to a rebuild centred around accumulating young talent and draft picks rather than chasing short-term success. In Montreal, the Canadiens’ season ended at the hands of Carolina, with an emotional Brendan Gallagher acknowledging that he may have played his final game as a Canadien. The hockey world also lost Claude Lemieux, whose family donated his brain to CTE research; Ray reflected on Lemieux as one of the toughest opponents he ever faced — incredibly strong, relentlessly competitive and built for big moments. Looking ahead to the Stanley Cup Final, Carolina appears to be the strongest version of itself in years thanks to key additions like K’Andre Miller and Nikolaj Ehlers, strong goaltending from Frederik Andersen, and the emergence of Taylor Hall as a leader alongside Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake. On the other side, the Golden Knights have become a rare success story after hiring John Tortorella with just eight games remaining in the regular season, a gamble that has paid off as Vegas has improved with each playoff round.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In Episode 111, host Christopher Morais discusses the Montreal Canadiens Media Day and the bombshell dropped by Brendan Gallagher, who said he will be moving on to play elsewhere in 2026-27. He also talks about Patrik Laine's season and why he was comfortable being on IR despite being healthy since January. All eyes now turn to the Stanley Cup Finals! The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights have proven they deserve to be here, but only one team can walk away with the greatest trophy in professional sports. Who has the edge going into this series? Can Frederik Andersen continue his strong play? Will Mitch Marner come away victorious? Finally, Chris takes a moment to discuss Claude Lemieux and his recent passing. The details around his death are still vague, but Lemieux did take his own life. You can never know what someone is dealing with in the shadows, so remember, always be kind to others and reach out if you need help. Todd LeMieux is an artist, art director and graphic designer based in Springfield, MA, with a career spanning multiple decades across agencies, corporate environments, higher education, and independent practice. He specializes in logos and branding, with deep experience in music industry work — including album reissues for major labels and a logo for a Warner Music digital imprint that was cast in metal and embedded in the floor of their Midtown Manhattan offices. He has taught graphic design at the college level, been published in books and magazines, and received industry recognition for his work. Portfolio: Todd LeMieux on Behance LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/toddmlemieux I met Todd at a celebration of life — a fitting origin point for a conversation about work that endures. Todd reflects on a career that began in traditional agency environments and evolved through every major wave of technological change in the design field. His perspective is grounded: he loves the work, has watched tools come and go, and holds a clear-eyed view of where human skill still matters. The episode closes on the question of where human designers will continue to thrive. Todd's answer: the humanity is already in the question.

pWotD Episode 3313: Claude Lemieux Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 375,808 views on Thursday, 28 May 2026 our article of the day is Claude Lemieux.Claude Percy Lemieux (July 16, 1965 – May 28, 2026) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 21 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for six teams between 1983 and 2009. Lemieux won four Stanley Cup championships during his career, including two with the New Jersey Devils, with whom he won the Conn Smythe Trophy during the team's victory in the 1995 Stanley Cup Final. He was one of 11 players to win a Stanley Cup championship with at least three different teams. He was also known as one of the greatest playoff performers, with his 80 career playoff goals ranking as the ninth most in NHL history.Lemieux was born in Buckingham, Quebec, but grew up in Mont-Laurier, Quebec. He was drafted in the second round of the 1983 NHL entry draft by the Montreal Canadiens and played with them from 1983–1990, winning his first Stanley Cup with the team in 1986. In 1990, he was traded to the Devils, with whom he played five seasons and won a second Stanley Cup. He was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 1995 and won his third Stanley Cup during the 1996 Cup Final. During the playoffs that season, Lemieux hit Kris Draper of the Detroit Red Wings from behind, breaking Draper's orbital, cheek, and jaw bones, and sparking a vicious rivalry between the Avalanche and Red Wings. In 1999, Lemieux was traded back to the Devils and won a fourth Stanley Cup with them in the 2000 Cup Final. Over the next few seasons, he played for the Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars. Lemieux left the NHL in 2003 and briefly joined EV Zug of the Swiss Nationalliga A before retiring as a player. In 2005, he was named president of the ECHL's Phoenix RoadRunners, a position he held for two years. Lemieux returned to the NHL with the San Jose Sharks for the 2008–2009 season, but retired again after that year. Following his retirement, Lemieux became a sports agent, serving in the role until his death. His son, Brendan Lemieux, is also a former NHL player, and currently plays for HC Davos of the National League in Switzerland. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:42 UTC on Friday, 29 May 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Claude Lemieux on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Kevin.

On Talkin' Hockey, we're all about the long weekends, and so of course we're here today, albeit in pre-recorded form!  We've talked about both the opponents that they faced in the finals during their back to back Cup runs, so today we're talkin' Penguins!  The 1991-92 squad had a bit of a roller coaster season before settling in to take Lord Stanley for the second straight year.  Their coach, the legendary "Badger" Bob Johnson had to step down in the off-season when he was diagnosed with cancer, and sadly he passed away in November of 1991.  The team was sold, also in November, to a couple of fellas from the Minnesota North Stars ownership group that they had vanquished the year before - a guess if you can't beat 'em, you buy 'em!  On the ice, it was the usual cast of characters - Lemieux, Stevens, Francis, Jagr, and Mullen, plus steady Tom Barrasso between the pipes and a blue line featuring Paul Coffey and newcomer Larry Murphy.  Ol' Paul got shipped out in February shakeup alongside Mark Recchi that steadied the squad, adding toughness with Rick Tocchet and Kjell Samuelsson coming in.  They finished strong and blew through the playoffs, sweeping the Blackhawks in the finals.Speaking of playoffs, we'll catch you up on the current goings on as 3 of our 4 semi-finalists are set, with a big game 7 between Montreal and Buffalo set to go as we exit the airwaves today.  Colorado and Vegas carry on the proud Jagr tradition this year, as both Brett Kulak and Rasmus Andersson played with the mulleted magician meaning that this is year marks the 46th (!!!) straight that the finals will feature a former teammate of ol' #68.Finally, co-host Tom slips into Mats Sundin's silky Swedish slacks and we break down the myriad of questions facing the Maple Leafs this off season.

Jamilah Lemieux is a writer, cultural critic, and — officially, loudly, and necessarily — a published author. Her debut book, Black. Single. Mother.: Real Life Tales of Longing and Belonging, dropped in March 2026, and it is already doing exactly what the best books do: making people uncomfortable in the most clarifying ways.In this conversation, Jamilah and I go deep. We talk about what Aunt Toni Morrison taught us about writing the books we need—and what it means to actually do it. We trace the wreckage of the 1965 Moynihan Report, the myth of the absentee Black father, and the way respectability politics decides which single Black mothers this culture chooses to celebrate and which ones it chooses to punish. We talk about Nia Long, Taraji P. Henson, and Cardi B. We talk about the African ancestral village and why every-other-weekend is not enough. And we talk about what it costs all of us—not just women—when we fail to love one another fully. This is one of those episodes you share. With the single mothers in your life. With the men who need to hear it. With anyone who's ever made an assumption about what a Black family is supposed to look likeThe class is in session.SHOW NOTESResources & ReferencesBlack. Single. Send us a textPress play and step through a time portal to the 1990s—sports dynasties on every screen, movie tie-ins on your soda cup, sitcoms that rewired comedy, and a Monday night where wrestling made the whole country pick a side. We hand the reins to our manager, Fiddy, and bring a lively panel together to relive the decade that shaped how we watch, listen, and eat.We kick off with the big question: were the 90s the true peak of sports dominance? From Jordan's Bulls to Gretzky and Lemieux, home run chases, and quarterbacks who defined eras, we tally the legends and ask if a decade could ever stack stars like that again. Then it's straight into the booth with John Madden and Pat Summerall—why their chemistry felt effortless and how their calls still echo in our heads. On the big screen, we revisit the Batman hype machine, the marketing that swallowed whole summers, and the films we still stop to watch—Heat, Forrest Gump, Mallrats, Billy Madison, Tombstone, Friday, and more.TV gets a full tour: 90210's taboo-breaking storylines, the TGIF routine, Seinfeld vs Friends, Fresh Prince, Married with Children, X-Files, Nickelodeon game shows, and the eerie charm of Are You Afraid of the Dark? We fire up the Monday Night Wars—WWF vs WCW, the NWO invasion, ECW chaos, and the Attitude Era's lightning-in-a-bottle energy that made pay-per-views must-see. Music rounds out the culture shift: grunge and alt-rock, hip-hop's canon from Biggie and Tupac to Outkast and Wu-Tang, pop's boy band takeover, Hootie's singalongs, and TRL's daily decider that turned tastes into a scoreboard. We close where so many memories started: McDonald's birthday parties, ball pits, Happy Meal toys, Pizza Hut red roofs, Ponderosa buffets, Denny's late nights, Chi-Chi's chips and salsa, and that perfect McDSubscribe for exclusive content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1530455/support Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREETactical BrotherhoodThe Tactical Brotherhood is a movement to support America.Dubby EnergyFROM GAMERS TO GYM JUNKIES TO ENTREPRENEURS, OUR PRODUCT IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE BETTER.ShankitgolfOur goal here at Shankitgolf is for everyone to have a great time on and off the golf courseSweet Hands SportsElevate your game with Sweet Hands Sports! In Part 2 of our Fall 2025 Expo recap, the BoothMates crew goes deep into the pickups, stories, people, and pure hobby energy that made this show unforgettable. Jeremy, Sam, Jay Z, Daniel, and Josh continue the conversation from Part 1 — this time focusing on the cards that came home with them, the surprising deals that unfolded, and the post-Expo adrenaline that kept everyone buying even after the show closed. Jeremy kicks things off with the vintage pickup that haunted him from the moment he entered the show: a beautifully centered 1953 Parkhurst Maurice Richard PSA 1.5 with exceptional registration despite its light creasing. This leads into a long, thoughtful discussion about grade vs. eye appeal, registry chasing, and the real differences between buying numbers and buying cards. The crew shares stories of their own swaps, upgrades, and “upgrade by downgrade” moves — including a Gretzky deal that proves sometimes the lower grade is the better card. The episode then shifts into modern PC pickups, with Jeremy revealing a stack of SP Authentic Limited Autos, Ultimate patches, Emblems of Endorsement cards, Cup honorable numbers, and multiple Fleury, Crosby, Thornton, Nash, Francis, Ovechkin, Lemieux and Kucherov additions. Even after four full days at the booth, the guys laugh about making “post-Expo hotel room deals” because, as Sam says, the hobby doesn't stop when the show closes. There's also a powerful moment when a longtime Hobby Insider member Matt gifts Jeremy a funeral program from Dale Hawerchuk's memorial, a gesture that catches him off guard and nearly brings him to tears. The group talks about staying “in the hobby zone” after returning home, the upcoming Langley and Chicago Spectacular shows, and the joy of seeing collectors find cards they never expected — from a massive Steve Yzerman want list to Jason Allison binders to PC grails that made the trip worthwhile for collectors who flew across the continent. They wrap with Expo reflections: • the best show energy in years • corporate and community presence at an all-time high • the hobby family that forms around a shared booth • the Expo's continuing growth — more halls coming, more vendors, more momentum • and why the show feels less like a card show and more like a true annual event Part 2 closes with final highlights, gratitude, and plans for future Expos, the National, and beyond. BoothMates is all about the people first, cards second — and this episode is exactly why. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jeremy Lee and Sam Genova sit down with their Expo booth crew to decompress from what might have been the best Toronto Sport Card Expo they've ever had. From Tim Hortons in the morning to the late-night hangs, and the 35 hours of show floor action over 4 four straight days at a new booth location that turned into one of the busiest rows in the building. Joined by longtime hobby friends Jay Z, Daniel, and Josh Adams, the group talks about how this Expo felt different: packed aisles from open to close, real collectors buying for their PCs, and a hobby that looks very healthy north of the border. Jeremy shares that he did roughly 120 deals at the show, and the guys compare notes on how Sunday felt more like a second Saturday than a wind-down day. Sam also opens up about a tough situation at the booth: a high-end card sale that a buyer tried to reverse after the fact. The panel walks through what happened, the “all sales are final” norm vs. the human side of the hobby, and why Sam ultimately chose to take the high road and undo the deal. They wrap Part 1 by showing and describing some of their favorite pickups from the weekend — from McDavid, Crosby, Forsberg, and Lemieux to Hank Aaron, Phil Rizzuto, Babe Ruth, and some pristine 80s Oilers rookies — and why the booth felt more like a clubhouse than a table.
