Who will the Steelers take? Tyler Kennedy joins the show for the first hour and shares his draft day memories. Is the NHL draft lottery rigged? TK has questions.
Hour 1 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: Tyler Kennedy joins the show and shares his draft day memories. TK thinks if the Penguins tear it down to the studs, it would be difficult and a very long process to get back from and hurt youth hockey in the city. If the NHL draft lottery legit?? Tyler has questions. Sidney Crosby is the Penguins team MVP, but Kennedy thinks Bryan Rust is second in voting.
Understandably, this one's been circled on our calendars since the beginning of Season 7 and fittingly for a supersized superstar, we're giving you a supersized episode! That's right, we celebrate one of the all time great superstars, Penguins lifer and later owner, The Magnificent One — Mario Lemieux. Super Mario did it all for the Penguins, leading them to two cups as a player before his career was cut short as he retired in 1997 in the midst of a battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He battled back and returned to the game in 2000, still an absolute force and now also the Penguins owner. Scored perhaps the most iconic Canadian goal of all time — the game winner against the Soviets in the 1987 Canada Cup! Then we've got our super-sized 2025 playoff preview, where we predict the outcomes of all the series and tell you who we think will be drinkin' from Lord Stanley! We also give you a recap of Game One from your Winnipeg Jets, who beat the pesky Blues 5 – 3 in front of an absolutely bonkers white out crowd!

Today, McKay talks all about action on the podcast, starting off the episode by recounting Ernest Shackleton's 1914 expedition to Antarctica. After two years of combatting ice, cold temperatures, and the ocean, Shackleton finally managed to save his team and bring them home. McKay attributes his unlikely success to his willingness to move and set his plans into action, and points out that many of us overthink far too much and are paralyzed by our thoughts. To overcome our overthinking, action is the best remedy - making moves, changing our thought processes, and cultivating what McKay calls our emotional homes are key to success.During the latter half of this episode, McKay introduces Larry Lemieux, an Olympic sailor who made the heroic decision to forfeit his pursuit of the gold medal to save his competitors drowning in the water. It was his quick action skills that made this move possible - he didn't overthink. Likewise, McKay draws this episode to conclusion by detailing Sarah Lift's decision to leave her abusive household at the age of 15. He says that her fast acting, like that of Lemieux, changed her life and led her down a path to emotional freedom and financial success. Listen in today as McKay demonstrates that, truly, “there is power in moving and keeping your focus on the next necessary part of your life's journey.”The Finer Details of This Episode:Ernest Shackleton's 1914 mission to Antarctica Why overthinking is a bad habit Why action assuages overthinkingThe importance of a healthy emotional homeLarry Lemieux's heroic move at the OlympicsSara Lift's decision to leave her abusive householdQuotes:“We let habitual thinking freeze us from time to time, and the way out of our situation, or to safety or success, just might be to move. Action is a powerful force, not only in our life, but in our minds.”“The problem with overthinking is it can become a habit, and soon we get hung up on relatively simple decisions. We worry excessively, our mind tends to go into overdrive, and we even begin to think about our thinking.”“Overthinking can prevent us from taking action by keeping us trapped in circular thoughts. When we overthink, we may be unable to separate facts and what we know for sure from the worries we keep telling ourselves.”“You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep rereading your last one.”“Overthinking plagues many of us, and we can change the rumination going on in our life and our thinking by focusing on what's next.”“Stand guard at the door of your mind. Only build rooms for the people and technology that helps you direct your thinking.”Links:Open Your Eyes with McKay Christensen

Are you wasting money on ads? If your paid ads aren't converting into bookings, the problem isn't just targeting — it's what happens after the lead comes in. This is my first-ever in-person guest episode as I sit down with Mike LeMieux to discuss the biggest mistakes Med Spas make with paid ads, why boosting posts is a waste of ad spend, and how your lead follow-up process is likely costing you thousands. Sometimes when I launch into a topic I have no idea where the stream of consciousness is going to take me, but damned if this isn't a good one, y'all, if I do say so myself. Georgia Republicans want to make Georgia a "closed primary" state, and that's (spoiler alert) bad for democracy. If Republicans are for something, when it comes to elections, you can be sure it's "bad for democracy." Now, listen, fellow Democrats ... we have to accept that our issues in 2016 exposed that we weren't exactly "pro-democracy" or all about "open primaries" ourselves, either, so take your medicine when I discuss that and how it correlates with the current conversation. A majority of Americans (58%) seek a complete overhaul of governance, and while they're getting one, it's not the one they wanted. At least 53% oppose Elon Musk's involvement. Doesn't that mean the left's ideas have a better shot with voters, if given the choice? Speaking of Bernie Sanders, he and just ten other Democratic Senators have managed to oppose every Trump Cabinet appointment (save for Marco Rubio) - netting a meager "10%" Thune score (John Thune, Senate Majority Leader). We're starting to see evidence of the Democatic party bowing up - and with DOGE's incursion into the US Treasury, a rally yesterday featured Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Rep. Jamie Raskin, among others, speaking of solidarity and action. We'll see ... Meanwhile just a week after my guest, Professor Anthony "Tony" Lemieux noted that Trump's J6 pardons mean 'if you do things in service of Donald Trump, you will be ... protected from the ramifications from it." That's going to be tested in a South Carolina case where a white guy has been charged with kidnapping, larceny and assault & battery, along with impersonating a law enforcement officer after a disturbing video surfaced showing him harassing a Spanish-speaking man in a truck, taking keys from the ignition and dangling them in the driver's face while insinuating he'd be deported "back to Mexico." Expect more acts like this, though, with Republican lawmakers eager to put bounties out for citizens to be encouraged to "hunt" for. This is how Germany lurched towards Nazism in the 1930s. Literally.

In this episode, Nick and Nick discuss the Pittsburgh Penguins placing forward Jesse Puljujarvi on waivers (1:37). They detail why this move may have been made, and whether this could mean the end of Puljujarvi's time with the Penguins' organization. They also react to Sidney Crosby's (latest) crowning achievement as he became the Penguins all-time leader in assists, surpassing Mario Lemieux on Sunday (14:31). Will he be able to catch the rest of Lemieux's records?
