Le Québécois Caleb Desnoyers pourrait bien être parmi les cinq premiers joueurs sélectionnés au repêchage de la LNH qui aura lieu les 26 et 27 juin prochains à Los Angeles. Le centre des Wildcats a rencontré les dirigeants de beaucoup d'équipes au camp d'évaluation (combine) de la LNH qui s'est tenu à Buffalo au début juin. Et il reconnaît avoir été assez surpris par ses discussions avec l'état-major du Tricolore. Il vient de connaître sa pire saison en huit ans, il a encore quatre saisons à écouler à son contrat qui lui rapporte 8,5 M$ par année, mais Mika Zibanejad pourrait assurément aider les Canadiens à solidifier leur ligne de centre. L'attaquant des Rangers, qui fait l'objet de plusieurs rumeurs d'échange, deviendrait «le numéro deux incontesté» derrière Nick Suzuki, mais devant Owen Beck et Jake Evans s'il s'amenait à Montréal. C'est du moins l'avis de Martin McGuire!
