Inside today's Locked on Canadiens: The opening night roster for the Montreal Canadiens is set for their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday...Sort of. Before diving into some of the injury-related questions facing the Habs, the hosts take a look at who made the 23 man roster, and who was sent down to the Laval Rocket on Monday afternoon. What do the hosts expect from this lineup, and is there more flexibility than we initially expected? Injuries also continue to hamper the team, especially on defence with Joel Edmundson and Mike Matheson set to miss the start of the season. While neither host wants a repeat of last season's devastating injury issues, can the absurd depth across the Canadiens organization help keep the team moving in the right direction? Speaking of depth, Scott and Laura take a look at five young players whose fortunes changed on Monday afternoon. With Juraj Slafkovsky, Arber Xhekaj, Jordan Harris and Kaiden Guhle being told they will start the year in the NHL, while Justin Barron was sent down to the Laval Rocket. The hosts examine the approach Martin St. Louis is using with his young players, while also taking a look at why a short stop in the AHL might be good for Barron right now. Inside today's Locked on Canadiens: Locked on Canadiens has teamed up with Jack Bond of Paramount Sports for a unique season preview for the Montreal Canadiens! While the Habs were always going to be longshots to win much of anything this year, just how long are the odds for the team to win the Stanley Cup? Or the Atlantic Division? What is the actual over/under on the points they're expected to earn this year? We break it all down, and listen to the reasoning behind why the team is more than likely going to finish at the bottom of the standings again. However, it's not all bad as the Habs have a couple of potential surprises for smart bets this year as well. If the team overachieves at all, could Martin St. Louis steal some Jack Adams votes? Also, can Cole Caufield continue his impressive form from last year and top the 30 goal plateau? Who will surprise, and can the Montreal Canadiens take the first major strides forward after a disastrous season last year? The 2022/2023 NHL hockey season is fast approaching. There have been many head coaching changes made in the off-season. How do you think these coaches will do? Will the Philadelphia Flyers play better next season with John Tortorella. Will the unproven coach Martin St. Louis have good results in Montreal? Will Peter DeBoer finally have a team to call home for more than one season in Dallas? The coaching carousel has always fascinated me. How is that a coach is so bad that he gets fired on one team but is "the right man for the job" on another team? Chemistry? Zip Code? Roster? It's really hard to explain how a coach can do a poor job on one team and have great success on another. Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Inside today's Locked on Canadiens: It's a debate on whether or not the Montreal Canadiens are actually one of the five worst teams in the NHL! Coming off a last place finish, and the first overall pick, has Kent Hughes improved Montreal enough to get them out of the cellar? The hosts take a look at all the reasons why they won't finish in the bottom five again first. Chief among them is the fact that head coach Martin St. Louis will have had an entire off-season and preseason to mold the Habs into the team he wants. Also, the team should hopefully not be as catastrophically injured, which should help Montreal climb slightly out of the cellar. On the other side of the coin, the team hasn't really changed all that much in terms of roster construction, and there are a lot of questionable pieces still on the team. If St. Louis cannot continue his own run of improving players on the team, what will happen? Also, the goaltending remains a serious question mark, and the defence is still loaded with young, but unproven talent, can they hold it together for the entire season? To end the show, the hosts try to figure out the upcoming Atlantic Division, and where they think the Habs will inevitably rank among the eight teams. Despite both hosts saying that Montreal is likely to finish last, they both agree that they could easily move out of last place as well. Scott and Laura also wonder where the Bruins will end up with their injuries, and with the return of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
