Steve Bégin se joint au trio pour décortiquer l’actualité du Canadien de Montréal. L’ancien attaquant du CH estime que la gestion des gardiens a été adéquate jusqu’ici, mais il pointe du doigt certains joueurs mal utilisés, dont Alexandre Carrier, qui selon lui « n’est pas dans la bonne chaise ». Bégin insiste aussi sur l’urgence d'aller chercher un deuxième centre de qualité, surtout après la blessure d’Alex Newhook, et déplore que Martin St-Louis « parte à la guerre avec des fusils à l’eau ». Un système de statistiques avancées qui se concentre notamment sur le modèle d'efficacité du joueur. C’est une nouvelle façon d’identifier le talent basée sur une approche du jeu à cinq contre cinq. Après avoir valider cette approche au cours des trois dernières saisons dans la LNH, les chiffres recueillis sont significatifs. Lors d’un match, l’équipe qui gagne au pointage à forces égales, remporte la victoire 70% du temps. Cette statistique a même atteint 78% lors des dernières séries. Toujours cette saison, en séries d’après saison dans la LHJMQ, c’est plus de 90% des matchs! Le camp préparatoire des Canadiens de Montréal s'amorce jeudi et Martin St-Louis devra gérer le travail de ses gardiens de but durant les six matchs préparatoires. Comment répartir le temps de jeu de Montembeault, Dobes et Fowler? L’ancien entraîneur des gardiens, Stéphane Waite, propose son mode d’emploi et affirme également que «Mike Matheson va avoir une valeur incroyable» sur le marché des échanges. Dans le cadre de la Tournée des joueurs de la LNH cette semaine à Vegas, le défenseur de l'Avalanche, Cale Makar, a quant à lui proposé la création d'un trophée Bobby Orr qui récompenserait le meilleur pointeur chez les défenseurs.
