Bacbeat is a diverse house DJ who although in the early stages of his journey has already captivated crowds in London, Ibiza and Africa. After recently playing in Studio 338 for Forward Motion and supporting Groove Armada at Ministry of Sound for their 33rd birthday weekender, Bacbeat is commanding dance floors with growing popularity. Born and raised in North London, Boon started DJ'ing after being hooked on the House and Garage music he was hearing being played in the capitals thriving underground scene. It wasn't long before he started DJing on the pirate radio stations he was listening to and held down a weekly show for a number of years. From there he decided to learn the production side of the music industry and was mentored by pioneering DJ / Producer Karl ‘Tuff E Nuff' Brown on the art of music production. He has gone on to have a string of productions released on various labels such as Quantize, Plastik People, Uni-Fi, 2Tuf4u, and Raising Records. In his DJ sets he brings his own brand of house music blurring the lines of soulful, deep, garage, and minimal house music to a number of events in London and Ibiza. He is resident at one of Londons biggest new parties, Forward Motion, where he plays regularly at venues such as Studio 338 and LDN East. This is Draw The Line Radio Show with Jacki-E, presenting the best music from female producers and DJs. As with last year, we sneak in another episode on New Year's Eve! This stunning contribution to our series comes from Marc Cotterell from Alberquerque, New Mexico, USA... yep, the town where Breaking Bad was set! Unusually it just snowed really heavily there (inc. the time when this mix was recorded), hence the unusual picture of Marc's normally desert-like hometown setting. Marc's Plastik People label was established in 2012 and pays homage to his roots in the various swathes of quality 90's House & Garage music he was/still is into. It's a proper underground vinyl label whose music policy dovetails nicely with Avenue Red's, with artists on the roster including some of our true heroes Julien Jabre and Aqua Bassino amid others that Plastik People first introduced us to including Trinidadian Deep, Life Recorder, Mike Sharon and SoulBasics. The label is also a platform for Marc's own productions. This set is proper party fodder: starting off in soulful, groovin' House terrain; going through some rugged, bumpty Housey/Garagey stuff; then back into soulful jazzy House again for the finale. For the 21st Avenue Red Podcast we turn to highly respected and deeply underground DJ/producer/label-boss Brad Peterson who hails from Louisville, US and is now based in the Scotland capital city of Edinburgh. Brad has released music as "Brad P", "Brad Peterson" and "Trackmachine" on labels such as Moods & Grooves, 7th Sign, Inner Shift Music, Minuendo, Yore, Hotmix, AMR, Contrast Wax and Monochromatic to name a few. He has a new label venture called "Common Dreams" and he also co-owns the label "Inner Shift Music" with fellow Edinburgh artist/producer Rai Scott. Together they also produce another project under the moniker "2DeepSoul". Brad has carved out his own niche in the electronic & deep house music scene, both as an independent artist and also with Rai Scott as 2DeepSoul. Individually and together, they have both received huge support from DJ's, labels, writers and fans from all over the world. We feel that this mix delivers a true testament to Brad's skill as a DJ and the deeply considered artistry behind everything he puts his time and soul into. And quite audibly, this guy is not capable of serving up music with half-measures! Here he displays a vibrant style of house music that is saturated with rich musicality and lots of quality instrumentation, often underpinned with warm analogue beats. Brad keeps the mix fresh on the ear at all times, layering his set steadily with lots of variety and unexpected elements - a curious mixture of techy and organic sounds, laced with soul, groove and engaging melodies. A few of his own tracks are featured on this mix, including the gloriously deep "Ice Planets" on his Inner Shift Music label. We've had our hands on this mix for a few weeks already and have absolutely nailed it on heavy repeat. This is highly addictive house music from a man highly addicted to house music in all it's various forms.
