Leticia Vaquero y Felipe Couselo hablan de la banda británica.
One winter's night, Alex James received an unexpected call. Blur had been invited to play their biggest gig ever: Wembley Stadium. The only trouble was, he and his bandmates hadn't spoken to – or even shouted at – each other for years. And he now had five children, an out-of-control menagerie of cats, and a sprawling farm to run. This is the story of what happened next. Taking us behind the scenes of a raucous, rollercoaster year, Alex tells Times journalist and bestselling author Caitlin Moran how the band made a surprise – and emotional – return, recording an acclaimed album and playing sold-out shows around the world, from Colchester to Colombia and beyond. Plus: how he went on a crash diet to fit back into his ‘Britpop Trousers,' a chastening encounter with the President of Columbia, and the magical story behind She's So High. Britpop was more than just a musical genre—it was the soundtrack to an entire generation's coming of age. Our guest Mark Jennings opens up his musical time capsule to share twelve tracks that defined not just the movement, but pivotal moments in his own life. The mix takes us chronologically through Britpop's evolution—starting with Oasis's thunderous "Rock and Roll Star" and concluding with The Long Pigs' punchy "She Said." Along the way, Mark provides fascinating context about the famous Blur vs. Oasis rivalry that dominated British headlines but barely registered across the Atlantic. Before streaming services democratized music discovery, these cultural phenomena remained strangely localized, creating parallel music universes on either side of the pond.We discuss how The Stone Roses sparked the entire movement, why The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" video captivated MTV viewers, and how Radiohead's early work provides a gateway into their experimental evolution. For every legendary band like Blur or Oasis, Mark highlights underappreciated gems from bands like Supergrass, Ocean Color Scene, and Republica.Whether you lived through the 90s Britpop explosion or are discovering these sounds for the first time, this episode connects the musical dots between yesterday's cultural revolution and today's ongoing British music influence. Richie was joined by the legend that is Alex James. They chatted cheese and talked all about his Big Feastival music festival where he'll be playing bass in a Britpop Classical band. This week also marks 30 years since the Battle of Britpop, where Blur & Oasis battled it out to top the charts on August 14th 1995. It was a choice between Roll With It and Country House, and Blur were, of course, victorious. What does Alex remember from that golden era? Where was he when he found out Blur topped the charts over their Britpop rivals Oasis? And what does he make of the big Oasis reunion?

Steve and Stu have questions – so many questions. Fortunately they also have answers! In this episode:Stuart's Big Number is 217.5 million... and what does it have to do with a B-side by US indie rock icons Pavement?Steve wants to know which albums have the songs sequenced in the "wrong" order? (And which Blur album does he have a controversial tracklisting opinion about?)Spotify's prices go up (again) – and who is happy about it and why?How easy is it to get a #1 album now – and did indie band The K's do it by selling CDs?Live-show promoters Live Nation have made "stonking" profits – and have sold 130m tickets. And it's because stadium shows are incredibly popular at the moment – but why?Napster are being sued by Sony Music... so have Stuart and Steve accidentally travelled back to the year 2000, or is something else happening?Donating a kidney for a sold-out festival ticket;Stuart waits up all night for the Taylor Swift album announcement – or is it a pre-pre-pre-announcement announcement? And in the special post-show lock-in section just for our Patreon Superfans, Steve and Stuart chat about:The time when the man in front of Steve in the guestlist queue claimed that he was Steve Lamacq;(And the time when Steve claimed he was someone else to get into a Bob Mould gig);Steve's top tip for legitimately getting into a sold-out gig;The time Stuart accidentally ended up at a minor reality TV star's birthday party;Stuart CONFESSES ALL about his ILLEGAL Napster use in 1999 (and how he downloaded the pop songs he felt too ashamed to buy in the shops); How Stuart was once gifted - and then lost - a $2000 bottle of tequila. As ever, we welcome your feedback, emails and – in particular – any questions you might have about how the music biz works!Email us: thepriceofmusicpodcast@gmail.comSee you next week!Steve and Stuart======Support The Price of Music on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/ThePriceofMusicFollow Steve on X - @steve_lamacqFollow Stuart on X - @stuartdredgeFollow The Price of Music on X - @PriceofMusicpodFor sponsorship, email - joe@musically.com

In this episode of Badlands Daily, CannCon and Ghost expose the regime's tightening grip on the narrative as media coverage, legal maneuvers, and digital censorship ramp up ahead of the 2024 election cycle. They break down CBS's suspicious pivot away from Biden's corruption, explore the implications of Biden's “blurred” public appearances, and analyze how AI-generated speech is being folded into deepfake legislation. The episode also covers revelations from whistleblowers about social media platforms deliberately throttling truth-tellers, the subtle manipulation of language in news reports, and Elon Musk's role in the larger media chessboard. From buried Durham findings to escalating lawfare against Trump, this episode shows how coordinated the information war has become, and why discernment is more important than ever.

In this episode of Badlands Daily, CannCon and Alpha Warrior break down a flurry of major developments, starting with Donald Trump directly naming Barack Obama as the ringleader of the Russia hoax in a new Truth Social post. The duo explores how this bold claim ties into the recently declassified Clinton email appendix, which reveals unreviewed thumb drives and potential intelligence breaches in the Executive Office of the President. They dig into new information surrounding the Seth Rich case, questioning whether this long-buried story is finally coming to light as part of the broader unraveling of Russiagate. Other topics include a suspicious joint military training exercise involving DHS, FBI, and DOD; NASA's strange website outage; and signs of a pivot in the Biden administration's COVID narrative. Border security chaos and the blurred legal lines for illegal immigrants in court proceedings also take center stage, with Alpha connecting the dots between collapsing systems and the intentional dismantling of law and order. Packed with fiery commentary and big-picture perspective, this episode captures the accelerating pace of revelations and their implications for both justice and the 2024 election narrative.

Send us a textSt. Louis-based metalcore act dead7 is poised to break through in a major way with the release of their highly anticipated debut album, LOVE WHAT YOU CAN WHILE YOU GOT SOMETHING LEFT TO LOVE, arriving July 11, 2025 via SharpTone Records. Known for their emotionally charged blend of heavy grooves, ambient textures, and bold vulnerability, the five-piece continues to turn heads with a sound that fuses brutal honesty and melodic hooks in equal measure.Composed of Jason Kozik (vocals), Dexter Greer (guitar), Tim Quinn (guitar), Stephen Salyer (bass), and Zach Guinn (drums), dead7 crafts music that leans into both atmospheric metal and alternative rock, while unafraid to explore the depths of love, loss, and internal conflict. Their debut album captures that duality perfectly—one moment it's a crushing wall of sound, the next a moment of haunting introspection.“We keep people guessing,” frontman Jason Kozik shared. “The new material is heavy, but we emphasized the hooks. We tried to make sure our songs resonate. In terms of the content, we focused on love, relationships, and things that are often tough to say.”After gaining traction through powerful singles like “tape mouth” and “heaven only knows” (featuring Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake), dead7 began to find their footing on the live circuit, including festival slots at POINTFEST alongside acts like Bad Omens, The Pretty Reckless, and Coheed and Cambria. The momentum caught the attention of SharpTone Records, who signed the band in late 2024.Heading back into the studio with trusted collaborators Caleb Freihaut and Ben McGuiness, dead7 shaped a record that reflects not only their evolution as a band but their refusal to be boxed in. Touchstones like Loathe, Bring Me The Horizon, and Three Days Grace inspire the record's push-and-pull between chaotic energy and accessible melody.Tracks like “BLUR” showcase that duality immediately, with its vocoder-drenched verses giving way to explosive choruses. “It incorporates a lot of what dead7 is,” Kozik explained. “Lyrically, it's a view of trying to navigate life with everything going on... in our relationships, in our families, and in ourselves. It feels like a blur, and you're trying to survive.”Other album standouts include “HOLE,” a raw depiction of tension in a fractured relationship, and “PLEASE,” a cheeky-yet-intense track featuring Marcus Vik, where soaring melodies meet lusty lyricism and thunderous riffs. Kozik remarked, “We were making a joke about being kind of horny, and we tried to encapsulate it… It has www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. John Corben: Former active duty military turns grotesque cyborg psycho. Things get pretty gross this week when John Corben surgically receives a kryptonite heart after getting smashed by a truck (look both ways much?). As John starts to spiral, all he can think about is taking the The Blur down, a.k.a. Clark. Chloe is getting extremely jealous, and annoying, of Lois since Clark made her his new sidekick. Tess hired a new assistant to help track down Major Zod and the Kandorians so she can get more black eyes in bed.Brian Austin Green (Beverly Hills 90210) makes another special guest appearance as DC Comics original character John Corben, a.k.a. Metallo. As always, leave those FIVE STARS!
Bronx native and music maker BRIEL The Artist reached out to us a few months back, sending me his stellar single titled “The Blinds”. We were very impressed with the song and style of his work and after an official introduction we inquired about having him on the podcast which we made happen this week on episode 263. BRIEL reflected on his influences in music growing up which included a love for many different R&B artists such as Summer Walker. His love for writing and crafting his own music steadily grew and has continued on into today as he crafts a world all his own within the confines of tracks like “Ladies Song” and “Blur”, both of which have a home on his latest offering “Damn Genesis” that's recently been released since the time of this interview. He told us about the seamless process creating not only the songs themselves but the concepts and visuals that helped to make and shape the project into what it became. We're very happy for BRIEL's accomplishments in what he's been putting out up to this point and are thrilled to work with him again really soon on future collaborations!Submit a demo track(s) for release consideration with Proven Knowledge! - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1l_h_XayHVqWIJHgTYyV5vGgThfRVEiBh8lw9SP8DrQw/viewform?edit_requested=trueConsider becoming a monthly supporter of the show by visiting the link here
Is anyone else feeling blurry? I'm feeling surprisingly exhausted and a little slower than usual. The summer stretch is lovely in its spaciousness but can feel oppressive on a dime because it's a blur that will never end. So today I want to remind you of a few things that will hopefully help your middle of the year blur. Helpful Companion Links Share your thoughts with us via our 2025 Listener Survey! Bf Barry says of summer starting, revving up, especially for co-host Kerry: Barry says “hanging out and hanging in” But as we greet the summer season, we're hanging out with someone Kerry came across through Steph McCoy of the fashion, style, and inclusion platform "Bold Blind Beauty". Of course, it's about the representation which I think is very important, also for the generations that are younger than me, but also because I think we should celebrate these different perspectives. And I also hope to show other travelers with low vision, that it's us who get to share this perspective with the sighted travelers and I think there's a cool aspect in that. Marie Elise joins us on Outlook this week to talk travel, the value of experiencing the loveliness and power of the planet by making use of all our available senses, and adapting to the shifting sands of genetic vision degeneration. Whether it's chickens, hummingbirds, or horses, Elise wanted to be a veterinarian growing up and now wants to share her message of experiencing the sound of a hummingbird and not just seeing it, and joins us from South America with the sound of those chickens outside the door. She describes her special connection to horses and the trust it takes to ride with fading sight, but the benefits of emotional regulation for a deeper connection and something she could apply to life going forward were helpful for coping with all of it. She says of her life travels, as she's worked to befriend the anxieties that developed in her 20s as the realities of her Stargardt's blindness became clearer: “I feel like that if you live in another country, that culture and that country becomes a part of you. It really has helped me develop as a human.” So whether it's growing up amongst the bicycles in the Netherlands, studying Spanish in Spain after high school, or her time in Argentina, Marie has a dream going forward: Of course, it's about the representation which I think is very important, also for the generations that are younger than me, but also because I think we should celebrate these different perspectives. And I also hope to show other travelers with low vision, that it's us who get to share this perspective with the sighted travelers and I think there's a cool aspect in that. Marie has a blog “Beyond My Blur” where she shares her own perspective on the places she's been lucky to get to experience and how to do this, with the full spectrum of senses, more fully: https://beyondmyblur.com

Welcome to episode #22 featuring an exceptional track list. I've got a new feature I'm trying out, tracing the roots of current mod bands and bands obviously heavily influenced by mod music. So for this episode I've got The Who, The Jam & Green Day. [Originally aired August 2007 on Mistersuave.com] To set the scene here's a passage from Mr. Suave's First Epistle to the Mods.Chapter 1 Verse 1: In the beginning was The Who and the mods knew it was good. It was loud and brash and full of danceable rhythm. Verse 2: The Who begat the Jam and the punks and mods knew it was good. It was fast and it was soulful. Verse 3: The Jam begat Green Day. And the punks and the mods and the masses finally all opened their ears and knew it was good. It was loud, and brash, and fast. And ultimately they showered it with silver and gold. HT2285 - Fast Lenses in the Age of DeNoise and LensBlur I use shallow depth of field less frequently than a lot of photographers, probably because I don't shoot many portraits. Nonetheless, I've always carried a fast prime for those occasions when I might need it. Truth be told, I can't remember the last time I used it. According the EXIF data in Lightroom, it was 6 years ago for a few shots and before that was in 2013. Do I still need a fast prime?
