AFL Premiership Player, Sports Commentator and passionate Mental Health Advocate Wayne Schwass is coming to Shepparton in October. Wayne will be the featured speaker at the annual GV Safety Group WorkSafe Month Breakfast.  Since capturing Australia's attention as one of the most successful football players in the AFL, Wayne has gone on to have a successful media career and share first-hand experience of mental illness in the workplace, making a name for himself as an advocate for mental health with his passion for health, wellbeing and talking openly about mental health. Launched in 2017, Puka Up is a social enterprise focusing on mental health, emotional wellbeing and importantly suicide prevention. According to Wayne, the Puka Up vision is to create the environment for every person to have authentic and genuine conversations about mental health and emotional wellbeing. Wayne Schwass is one of the most highly rated performers in the AFL history, playing 282 AFL games over 14 years with the North Melbourne Football Club (1988-1997) and the Sydney Swans (1998-2002). Founder of The Sunrise Foundation, Wayne is a versatile, motivating and inspirational speaker. Born in New Zealand, Schwass moved to Warrnambool in Victoria at the age of 3 where he began playing Australian Rules before being recruited by VFL club, Kangaroos. During his 14 year career Wayne won 3 Club Best & Fairest awards, was an All Australian, 3 x State Representative, 1996 Premiership player, 1995 Night Premiership Player, Morrish Medallist (VFL U/19 Best & Fairest), AFL Life Membership and North Melbourne Life Membership. Wayne retired from AFL Football in June 2002. Wayne has since forged a name for himself as a highly respected AFL Broadcaster on TV, radio and online with AFL.com, AFL Live, Triple M Footy and AFL Central- hosting such shows as Off The Bench TV, Footy Feast and calling AF on the AFL Live. The 2016 season will see Wayne return to the commentary team at Triple M and talking all things footy with PRIME7's Off The Bench TV.
