On AFL 360, Gerard Whateley and Garry Lyon review the highs and lows from Round 1, including the undermanned Collingwood Magpies’ victory over the much-hyped St Kilda Saints. They then react to Carlton’s loss to the Sydney Swans, debating whether the footy world is overreacting to the defeat. Sydney Swans forward Tom Papley opens up on the team's new game plan and why his calf soreness in the pre-season has been a "blessing in disguise". In our first episode of our new season of More than Footy, presented by Bing Lee, Papley gives incredible insight to the game plan overhaul this season, his chats with Justin McInerney before his contract extension, and playing against familiar faces in Opening Round. ‘More than Footy’ features guests connected to the red and white family to chat candidly about the club, recent events in the AFL community with a Swans focus, recent game highlights, funny stories with and involving players. The show illustrates that the reach of footy extends well beyond the game on the field. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It was a downward spiral for the Sydney Swans after their big Grand Final loss in 2024 to the Cats. Dean Cox was elevated to the Senior Coaching role and didn't find it easy. Injuries to key players, impacting their ball movement and structure and a bizarre position movement to a Key Position player at the start of the season, left everyone scratching their heads. They have gone big and bold in the off season, moving on a few player like Will Hayward and Ollie Florent, in order to lure the big fish in Charlie Curnow. Could this be the missing piece to their scoring and forward 50 targets?Listen along as we preview the 2026 season of the Sydney Swans. Drawing on his playing career, his transformational coaching of the Sydney Swans, and his work with organisations through Performance by Design, Paul unpacks what truly drives sustainable high performance. The conversation explores why talent alone is never enough, how culture can (and must) be systemised, and why leaders must actively shape behaviours rather than leave culture to chance. Paul shares behind-the-scenes insights into the famous Bloods culture, the role of trust, feedback, and accountability, and how these principles translate directly into business and organisational leadership. The episode also dives deep into leadership behaviours, the importance of feedback given in real time, the dangers of delayed performance reviews, and why great leaders must flex their style to connect with different people — not expect others to adapt to them. This episode is a masterclass in leadership, culture, and execution — from elite sport to enterprise excellence. This episode was drawn from our Community event, where Paul spoke to tonnes of people! Former AFL player Ryan Clarke joins The Pursuit of Love podcast to unpack his shift from professional football to tech entrepreneur. After 97 games with North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans, Clarke took a year off to travel—only to discover how difficult it was to access a gym without locking into a membership. That frustration sparked the idea for Gymgoer, a fitness app designed to give travellers simple, contract-free access to gyms through day, week, or monthly passes. In this episode, Ryan talks about raising $400,000 in funding, launching Gymgoer in October 2024, and rolling it out across Melbourne and key holiday destinations. He opens up about the steep learning curve of building an app with no technical background, the mindset shift from athlete to founder, and why solving your own problems often leads to the best business ideas. His message to young creators and entrepreneurs? Back yourself and have a crack while you can.

Tony Armstrong considers himself a cynical person, which is why it's a somewhat ironic that he's emerged from his latest project with renewed optimism. The former AFL player has spent the past year researching the scope of racism in sport and society and seeking to do something about it. He's seen the failed anti-racism campaigns, the well meaning but toothless initiatives and Armstrong has had enough. Tony has travelled the globe to speak to influential athletes, tech pioneers and grass roots advocates to chart a way forward in an increasingly insidious space.
