Welcome to TCL's longest show to date, over 2 hours and for good reason. Patricio and his lovely wife, Pricilla is on the show. The focus on this show will be about safety but we will discuss electrical, a few other trades, the industry, schools, new trades, old trades and right back to safety. Patricio with 22 years of electrical experience, master electrician and fire alarms certified. At 18 years old he had a bad accident on site and a pair of safety goggles could have saved his eye from blindness. This is one opening story you must listen to.After the accident and trying to move on he got back on site, but the sound of the saw triggered him and he was diagnosed with PTSD, he bolted from the job site, he left. Patricio disappeared on his motorcycle and did a road trip out east and that trip gave him the confidence to get back into the trades, he became a master electrician. From there he was paying attention to the 2 groups of tradespeople that are getting hurt the most, the new kids and the old timers, new kids because they have something to prove, the old timers because they have done it a thousand times.Patricio shares another story about new tradespeople being tasked to carry a 1500-pound transformer up the stairs, sure enough only one of the new trades said no while the others agreed, it didn't end well. Patricio talks about knowing your basic right to refuse unsafe work, never be pressured to do something that you as a tradesperson know is not safe. The conversation shifts to education, getting trades back into high schools and making guidance counselors to present trades as an option to every student, not every student is going to or want to go to university, some are passionate about construction. We compare trades to other careers, we discuss how learning the electrical trade here in Canada and the USA means you can use that trade globally, you can go work in other countries as options.New trades, old trades, Journeymen, everyone, take the second and ask if you have your PPE and make sure others around you have their PPE, take the time to put on your PPE.Not everything is rainbows and butterflies.Shared and Discussed linkshttps://www.kleintools.comhttps://www.fluke.com/en-caWhat an amazing show full of enlightening insight, I thank you so much Patricio for sharing so much on your take on construction and more, educating our listeners on everything to do with your trade, men and women in construction and skills. In the last episode, we had a brief overview of the rough-in phase of construction, including what goes on during the electrical rough-in. This week I'll give you some very basic information about your breaker box and where you should locate it.   Plus we'll briefly cover when you'll need a typical 120 volt electrical outlet versus a more powerful 240 volt outlet.  And we'll end the mini-lesson with some talk about what size electrical service or the number of amps your house should have.  I know this sounds pretty technical, but these are things we need to understand on a basic level so when our electrician asks if we want a 120 volt or 240 volt outlet or if we want a 200 or 240 amp electrical service, we'll have some idea of what he's talking about.  As always, I'll break things down into simple terms. And then, because we love to chat with the incoming president of the FDLA, Dory Sartoris from DCS Dental Lab (https://www.dcslab.com/) comes on to talk about how the post-covid show was and what the FDLA is working on to benefit the labs in Florida. Whip Mix (https://www.whipmix.com/)'s new Veriwash (https://www.whipmix.com/products/veriwash/) resin cleaning station is the ideal piece of equipment to use in the 3D printed resin post process. It's oscillating, multi-speed stirrer produces a tornado-like vortex every 30-seconds, and guarantees efficient, effective and powerful cleaning whether the units are individual or still attached to the build plate. The two alcohol baths make an effective step-wash system. It cleans more efficiently and there is less alcohol needed, since it is re-used for both a fresh bath and a dirty bath. The VeriWash's intelligent design offers features such as Mode, Time, and Start/Stop button display which gives the operator full and automatic control of the cleaning process. A mesh basket used in the wash container makes it easy to keep track of small printed parts when cleaning. The affordable unit's one-year warranty ensures peace-of-mind for the owner. Visit whipmix.com (https://www.whipmix.com/) or call (800) 626-5651 for more information about this great new product. Special Guests: Don Hebert CDT, Dory Sartoris, and Ricardo Marrero .

It was Great American Eclipse of 2017 — the first total solar eclipse to cross the entire continental United States since 1918. Throngs of spectators gathered along the path to totality, from Oregon to South Carolina, to watch the moon blot out the sun for two-and-a-half minutes and the midday sky plunge into darkness. When Kerry Egan arrived at a field in South Carolina to witness the spectacle, she was jolted by another sight: her 6-foot-one, 250-pound husband wearing “skintight, blaze-orange nylon shorts that fit like hot pants.” This embarrassing scene before Kerry — while the sky above seemingly turned inside out — became the basis for a revelation she had about her marriage.Featured Stories: "My Husband Wore Really Tight Shorts to the Eclipse Party” by Kerry Egan"If You Need Light in Your Life, Call an Electrician" by April Silva
