Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris bring you the June 10 20 30 40! What notable games were released in June 2014, 2004, 1994, and 1984? Was this yet another wretched month of bland releases, or were there a few gems worth DIGGING up? Why yes, that was a Shovel Knight reference! There were actually several great releases this time around, including Saturday Night Slam Masters, Donkey Kong for Game Boy, the Frolfing joys of Ribbit King, and more! At the top of the show, Dan's health concerns get all the more frustrating, as he still doesn't know the extent of what's wrong with him. Hopefully we find answers soon. But on the plus side, he spent some time dusting his massive action figure collection! Meanwhile, Kris got a new outdoor pizza oven for his birthday, created a live-action Among Us game for his kids to play, and spent some quality time with Super Mega Zero. Finally, in Week Old News, Capcom is still making money from that wonderful/terrible Street Fighter movie, Atari 50 gets a bunch of new content, someone calling himself Dr. Disrespect gets in trouble, and more. Enjoy! But personally, I'd file it under "rad". I traditionally suck at fighting games, and this is no different. But throw in a wrestling ring, championship belts, whipping guys into the ropes, and a giant dude that looks like Vader, and you have my attention. A listener/supporter/friend of the show that goes by the moniker 'The Big Deal' sponsored this week's episode, and turned me on to blaming people on Saturday nights. He swung by the show to explain why he loves this game so much. And then my go to fighting game guy, Mike The Ref, and I have a nice chat about the good, the bad, and the fucking cheap, that is Saturday Night Slam Masters! And before we get screwed out of all our quarters, I stumble through another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if I think Phil Spencer should resign as the head of Xbox? What are my favourite gaming commercials from my childhood? And what was mu most anticipated game back in the day? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 retro scrappers: Tekken 3, Street Fighter 2, and Mortal Kmobat II.

Welcome to the Summer of Slam!!! We're going to spend the entire summer talking about fighting games, action movies, and competitive gaming of all types. We hope you enjoy! On our first episode of the Summer of Slam, we talk about an extremely hypothetical project. We want Capcom to make a new wrestling game, in the line of Saturday Night Slam Masters, but with some modern flair. Jordan and Mike spend an hour talking about this game idea and it's a lot of fun to listen to.
6. [C Tier] Zangief. I love me some Gief and some good ol SPD action, but if Final Fight is a part of Street Fighter lore, then why isn't Haggar a playable character in any SF games? Why isn't Gief a part in Final Fight or in Saturday Night Slam Masters...because they are both the same character #analysis!
This week the Bois are laying the smack-down in more ways than one, looking into games that tried to do their own thing, some that took inspiration and others that just straight up wanted to wear the big boys shoes. Featuring commentary on the shameless "Power Instinct", the unoffensive but ultimately under-cooked "Saturday Night Slam Masters", the little franchise that never could "Eternal Champions" and the SNK gold mines of "Kizuna Encounter" Which will come out smelling of roses and holding the belt, and who is going home to "be a family man"? Only one way to find out ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... Let's Get Ready to Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble!!!
Put your Nostalgia Goggles on! This week on the Game Marks Podcast, we take a #DeepDive into a fan-favorite, Saturday Night Slam Masters! To cap off 2018, we turn our focus to Capcom, one of the most popular publishers in the "retro" era. Delving into this company's history, we also take a look at some of its iconic titles, such as Bionic Commando, Duck Tales, and Saturday Night Slam Masters. We also crown our "Retro Game of 2018", and Jeff's facial hair gets some cowboy influence.

The crew of the Brilliant Resolve showed their might in the Ring Master’s palace, proving they are the Saturday Night Slam Masters of Footfall. As they stumble from their victory and begin attending to the various wounds and concussions that title brings, they also find themselves in need of a new Void Navigator. They have to head off to a local time ruled by a mob boss going by the name of Archimedes. They have very little information to guide them, except that their favor with this man can grant them or deny them significant access to Footfall. Better to tread lightly. Forty-year-old Lord-Captain of the Brilliant Resolve and current bearer of the Ramirez Dynasty’s Warrant of Trade. After a scandal that eventually saw her family’s prized Garden World confiscated and resold, she’s become increasingly unwilling to compromise her Imperial ideals, even if it means losing a chance at profit. Or being reasonable. A military commander first and foremost, she relies on the expertise of her crew to keep the Dynasty’s accounts ready to fund the return of as many planets as possible to the Emperor’s light. Kevin – Herzog Luitger. 50 year old Master of Arms of the Brilliant resolve. Gray-haired and burly, Herzog is a decorated war hero from several campaigns in the Koronus expanse, bringing the word of the Emperor with fire and chainsword. When not serving with the captain, he can be found in the gym building his temple to the Emperor. Max – Diannde. Choirmaster Telepathica of the Brilliant resolve. Short and dark haired with unearthly pale skin and a golden bird half-mask gene fused over her eyes and permanently seen with her strange amorphous snake and a bottle of amasec. An artificial witch created by a clandestine organization aboard a void station, Diannde was conscripted for her well crafted powers by the Ramirez dynasty, to whom she serves more loyally than Empire command. Josh – Scylla. Thirty-ish Void Master of the Brilliant Resolve. Tall and well-muscled, she hales from a deathworld, where she fully excepted to live a short, brutal and, perhaps, glorious life. Instead, she was conscripted into the Emperor’s military, where she served exceptionally. She was recommended to the Lord Captain for her martial and piloting prowess by Master at Arms […] The post Rogue Trader – Collective Threat Episode 8 appeared first on The Drunk and The Ugly.

Part 3 just checks out one game - but when you realize that it's Marvel Versus Capcom 2, you can understand why it takes about twenty minutes to go through all the burly, sweaty manliness that is contained inside. If you are a fan of comic books, you might want to skip this one; Johnny and Robbie know next to nothing about them, and confuse "X-Men" with "Ultimate X-Men" or something shameful like that, and can't figure out why they're trying to slip in TWO Wolverines. But Marvel Versus Capcom 2 is a beartacular filled with bears and bearishness. Just exactly who is hot in this game? Lessee. Thanos? Maybe? Wolverine definitely qualifies. Sabretooth, yep. Zangief, of course. ("His big, burly shoulders are good to... HUG ya!") When ANAKARIS was alive, perhaps? Juggernaut! Gay Russian Colossus! M. Bison! The Hulk! Sadly, the Marvel fan seems to be much more on the bearish side than the Capcom side - apparently they didn't take enough characters from Saturday Night Slam Masters.
