I think it (along with the rest of the GameCube wrestling games) get overshadowed by the SmackDown series, but if you grew up playing the N64 holy grail titles, you have to play this one. Day of Reckoning's controls feel like the next-step from games like WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF No Mercy. Simple enough for anyone to pick up, but there's enough depth there for us die-hards to really sink our teeth into. Add in a decent roster and a solid career mode, and you have all the ingredients for at LEAST a four-star match. My guest this week is the official referee of RTG, Mike The Ref. We both love wrestling, love wrestling games, and really like Day of Reckoning. Some minor gripes and I explain why I prefer SmackDown, but all in all DoR is a must-play for any Ruthless Aggression era junkies. And before we ring the bell, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks bout the logic behind our scoring system. How do I feel about Wreck-It Ralph? And I give some one-handed game suggestions to a hot dog with a bad wing. Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 old-school wrasslin' games: WWF Attitude, ECW Hardcore Revolution, and WCW Mayhem. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome to another spine-tingling, joystick-wiggling episode of Play Comics, where the pixels meet the page and the game controllers are always at risk of being thrown in excitement or frustration. This week we're diving into the dark cobwebbed corners of the gaming world to unearth the 1992 classic The Addams Family, a game that dared to ask “What if we took a beloved, macabre family and turned their life into a platforming adventure?” Based on the 1991 film of the same name, this game sprawled across the NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, Game Gear, and Game Boy, proving that no console was safe from its kooky, spooky charm. In this episode we're thrilled to welcome back the illustrious Adam Williamson, a man whose knowledge of games is only rivaled by his ability to survive encounters with the supernatural—or at least supernatural-themed video games. Adam, who last graced us with his presence in a bodyslammin' discussion on WWF No Mercy, returns from the depths of the gaming archives to help us navigate the twisted halls of the Addams' mansion. Prepare for a journey where every jump is a leap of faith (into a pit of who-knows-what), every enemy is as bizarre as an Addams family member, and the only thing scarier than the game's difficulty is the thought of turning it off before finishing. Will Gomez find his beloved family members, or will he be doomed to wander the pixelated corridors forever? Join us as we explore the mystery, the humor, and the sheer Addams-ness of The Addams Family game. So tighten your seatbelts, adjust your monocles, and make sure your hand (Thing, is that you?) is firmly attached to your wrist. It's going to be a wild ride through the Addams Family estate, where the only guarantee is laughter, nostalgia, and maybe, just maybe, a newfound appreciation for games that make you want to pull your hair out—in the most delightful way possible. Learn such things as: How can you base a game off of single panel comics? How is this macabre family so wholesome? What does Jonathan Blow have to do with any of this? And so much more! You can find Adam absolutely nowhere except for on Play Comics where he writes comic reviews and appears on other episodes. Of particular interest to listeners of this episode are The Gimmick #1 and The Job #1. Get ready to tag in and grapple with nostalgia as your host, Chris, is joined by the dynamic duo of wrestling wisdom: Adam “Ringmaster” Williamson and Josh “Suplex Strategist” Garvey! In this pixelated pilgrimage through the archives of gaming history, our intrepid trio steps into the virtual ring to dissect the legendary N64 classic—WWF No Mercy. It's a game that's more electrifying than a Rock Bottom and has more twists than a Stone Cold Stunner. But this isn't just about button-mashing and joystick jiu-jitsu. Chris, Adam, and Josh are here to unravel the intricate connections between the digital squared circle and the real-world rumbles of professional wrestling. From powerbombs to power-ups, they'll grapple with the game's impact on the wrestling genre and how it managed to body-slam its way into the hearts of gamers worldwide. Prepare for a verbal Royal Rumble as they dissect the game's character roster, match types, and those legendary “OH MY GOD!” moments that made WWF No Mercy a slam dunk for wrestling and gaming enthusiasts alike. So lace up those boots, polish your championship belts, and press play as Play Comics takes you on a journey down memory lane, where the only pins are the ones you aim for in the ring, and the only submissions are the ones that make you submit to the nostalgia. Get ready for a piledriver of fun in this bodyslammin' episode that's sure to leave you chanting, “This is awesome!” Disclaimer: No controllers were harmed in the making of this podcast. However, the same cannot be said for friendships lost during heated multiplayer sessions. Listener discretion is advised. Learn such things as: How can you fit so many characters into a game this size? How is this still the premiere wrestling game? How can Chris convince Kayleigh that maybe he is going to start watching wrestling? And so much more! You can Adam absolutely nowhere except for on Play Comics where he writes comic reviews and appears on other episodes. Dickie and Madrox were able to find something that Jared is surprisingly knowledgeable of and what helps settle his mind so he didn't try to collect their faces. This was originally recorded on Tuesday August 29 * Apologies it is just now getting posted.Sean and Marc are back again to discuss several things going on in gaming. Firstly, Sean's been playing the newly released Turn-based JRPG Sea of Stars, is all of the hype justified? Could it really be a GOTY contender? Also, Marc's been playing another type of RPG, Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, and has been enjoying it. But he has a few qualms about the game, mainly the gear system. Microsoft and Xbox were in the news a lot in the last week from selling Cloud Gaming rights to Ubisoft for Activision-Blizzard games to Phil Spencer saying that game console prices are no longer going down as we've seen in years past. The guys discuss all of this, and what it means for gaming's future, and does it make the Series S, despite its feature issues, a necessity in today's market? Also, the PlayStation Portal officially has a price and a use case, Gamescom Opening Night Live happened, a WWF No Mercy spiritual successor is in the works, and more! You can also watch this episode on the W2M Network Channel, please give us a like, comment, and follow over there too: https://youtube.com/live/cUWDdcUx4mQ- Listen and give us a review on these platforms -https://podcasts.apple.com/ag/podcast/video-games-2-the-max/id886092740https://open.spotify.com/show/2wjd0u3xO7TdAm4gKRM44Lhttps://www.audible.com/pd/Video-Games-2-the-MAX-Podcast/B08JJPTZTWhttps://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/video-games-2-the-max-181386https://podcastaddict.com/?podId=2465904https://www.iheart.com/podcast/53-video-games-2-the-m-28438312/- Follow on Twitter -Sean on Twitter: https://twitter.com/W2MSeanW2M Network on Twitter: https://twitter.com/w2mnetwork- Other Social Media -Follow us on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@w2mnetwork2Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/aydMgvUN9dFollow us on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/w2mnetworkFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/w2mnetwork/Follow Us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/W2MNetwork

Sam Vallely of Hyperfocus Games sat down with WrestleZone this week to discuss the upcoming Ultra Pro Wrestling video game and how it plans to be the spiritual successor to WWF No Mercy. The interview covers plenty of topics, including gameplay, the creation suite, career mode, online, and so much more.
ULTRA PRO WRESTLING's Kickstarter launched with a bang, quickly crushing the initial funding goal. The game promises to finally be the successor to WWF No Mercy (and other AKI developed pro wrestling games) that fans have been wanting for more than 20 years... But we've heard all of this before. Many games have come and gone, games that promised to be the next big thing, only to fall far short of expectations. Personally, I was skeptical of Ultra Pro Wrestling's announcement trailer. After how many games have claimed to be the next big thing, how could I NOT be skeptical, right? Rather than doubt from afar, I invited UPW's lead developer, Sam Vallely, onto the channel for an in depth interview. Sam accepted and answered all of my questions with an extremely respectable amount of transparency. He offered specifics on the game's development, details regarding in-game features, modes, weapons and more. The team's goals seem insanely bold to me, but with the amount of time and passion that has already gone into the game's production, we'll have to wait and see what's to come. Give this interview a listen and let me know in the comments: how are YOU feeling about Ultra Pro Wrestling? LET'S GET TO IT!
Variety streamer and longtime personal friend Bill Duhr drops in to talk about our trip to St. Louis' new dedicated VR center, Sandbox VR. Topics include how to make a car bed for adults, the worst hit-and-run attempt of all time, and why WWF No Mercy is one of the greatest video games of all time. Check out our full Sandbox VR review. I had an idea this week. Last week we did the original Amityville Horror and we laughed and joked about how no Black people were in the movie because we know to stay out of houses like that. Well, I wanted to see if I could prove myself wrong this week because Bones is all about Black homies not getting out of a house telling them to get out! This was a real fun episode to record and I have both Chris and Cameron with me this week. We listened to a lot of music, Cameron talks smack about Alabama again after they lost to Tennessee, we laughed at BET edited movies, reminisced about WWF No Mercy, Cameron and Chris did some duets on the mic and we seemingly talk a movie into existence, more on that in the coming episodes though...
