“Ugh. This would be so much easier (or better) if I did it myself.” Have you ever muttered those words? Have you ever had those thoughts? Accepting help (from others) can be incredibly difficult. Face it, those class projects in school sure didn't help. Unfortunately, that thinking isn't healthy and isn't biblical. That's because ONE is too small a number to accomplish anything of significance. In this message, Max Vanderpool tackles our inclination to do things alone - and to resist offers of help from other people. He should know. He spend the first half of pastoral ministry doing that very thing.

Godly leaders are a gift to His people, but even if a someone leads poorly, you can still do what’s right and accomplish great things by submitting to the Lord yourself. The repair work on the wall shows that serving the Lord can be a whole family event. Malchijah shows that you shouldn’t let a past failure stop you from serving the Lord today. There is a definite family aspect to this chapter - the people were connected. It was a good thing for God’s people to work together, & it surely must have pleased Him. It was also a beautiful example of the body of Christ at work.

Building God’s kingdom is a community project, needing leaders and co-builders to work together, while we await the future of the coming city of God.
This sermon is the fourth in our message series on the book of Nehemiah. The title of the series is "Rebuilding Your Life." We're looking at the account of Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, and applying insights to the challenges we face in rebuilding the broken things in our own lives. This message is based on Nehemiah chapter 3:1-32, which gives a lengthy description of all the people who helped build the various parts of the wall of Jerusalem. We will focus especially on one part of this wall, and draw analogies to our own work of rebuilding, which includes "getting the garbage out."

Nehemiah 3 gives us a fantastic portrait of what it looks like to work together with one mission, and to show people the reality of God.

We believe that we are called of God to teach the Bible line upon line and to equip the members of our church to love God and serve Him in a way that demonstrates His love to people.

When the greatness of God captures the hearts of people, amazing things happen.
When God's people work together, united around a mission, and each one does his or her part, great things can be accomplished. What's our church's mission? What's our process for accomplishing that mission?
How could they build the wall in 52 days? Unity! Together is better.

Despite the opposition we may face, we must keep working in building God’s kingdom together.
Nehemiah has gathered all of his information needed for rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem. After much patience and research, it is time to start rebuilding. Not only was his God given vision important, but so were those called to help him. Rebuilding takes not only leadership but those willing to serve. What are you willing to do for God? Are you ready to make a difference? Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/e/1ZHa
