Navy SEALS sniper, Jeremiah Dinnell "JP", served three combat deployments and won numerous awards for valour, including a silver star. Today JP is an instructor with Echelon Front the super successful leadership company created by SEALS Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. It has not been an easy road for this Texas frogman. Only two years ago JP was lost, struggling and delivering pizza. It's a familiar story for many guests who are doing good things - they have to overcome. We go inside the mind of an elite sniper. Here's what we discuss with JP in this interview. When people ask JP what he does, how does he like to reply? Where does his desire to be of service to others come from? What part of JP's character does he draw from the memory of his sister? What lessons did his parents pass on to him that he wants to pass on to his kids? Where does his humility as a man come from? JP thrived in Ramadi. Why? Chris Kyle is one of the greatest snipers of all time. Why was he such an outstanding sniper? The process of calming our breath. What's the process and soundtrack JP has running through his mind on target? Can JP focus day-to-day in the business world, in the same way a sniper can focus and wait for the moment? What's the impact of working with two guys like Jocko Willink and Leif Babin? What was life like for JP just two years ago? Leif Babin said "It's not what you preach, it's what you tolerate" what will JP not tolerate? Working in finance after the SEALS teams, it simply was not working out, what was missing? Why could JP not apply what he knew in the teams to his family? SEALS do not quit, never give an inch, never settle, yet JP quit on his marriage. What's the critical learning. Stepson Aidan said the flag is Daddy's favourite thing. What are the values JP wants to represent his kids? The American flag is a trigger for JP. When he rubs his hand over it, what feelings and thoughts does he get? Teammate Platoon Commander Seth Stone - what legacy did Seth leave JP as a man? Seth Stone taught you always to carry a notebook and pen. Does JP still carry a notebook and pen? "Wanna be" vs "gonna be"… a moment that defined the desire for JP to be a SEAL. JP shaved his head and always presented cleanly shaved. What was the thinking behind that? JP will always have his shirt ironed, clothes laid out, kit sorted for the following day. JP is a disciplined, organised guy. What's the path, and how do we get on it? JP's email signature says "Live Life Without Fear." We all have fears, how do we go about living without them? There was a time when JP had to adjust his thinking from "I got to", to "I get to" LINKS JP Dinnell website https://echelonfront.com/jp-dinnell/ JP Dinnell socials @jpdinnell Echelon Front https://echelonfront.com Muster Sydney https://bit.ly/2WZG7Pm The Mojo Radio Show on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/themojoradioshowpodcast The Mojo Radio Show http://www.themojoradioshow.com The Mojo Radio Show on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TheMojoRadioShowPodcast/ The Mojo Radio Show on Twitter https://twitter.com/tmrspod The Mojo Radio Show Answering Machine 08 7200 6656 08 7200 MOJO The Mojo Radio Show copyright Gary Bertwistle & Darren Robertson Products or companies we discuss are not paid endorsements. "It's been a long time in the making", agreed Seth Stone, bass player for Aenimus about their upcoming album Dreamcatcher, which is set for release February 22, "and I feel like this record really has something for everybody: metal fans and non-metal fans alike. If you're just into good music and horror movies or novels and have an open mind I think you'll enjoy it".Dreamcatcher is a concept album with a difference. Rather than follow an idea or scenario, it instead focusses on a selection of novels and movies from a master of the horror genre."The concept is based off four different horror novels by Steven King", Stone explained. "We chose four classic stories - It, The Shining, Hannibal and The Silence of the Lambs series, and The Dead Zone. We took those concepts and basically retold them from different characters perspectives; trying to go through how these characters felt throughout the stories and why they were doing the things they were doing and we tried to tell them in a way where people could relate in their day to day lives. Even if they don't know what those stories are about they might be able to identify with some of the characters we're writing about. Musically we wrote the lyrics and tried to match these emotions that lyrically we were expressing so it really ended up being a really diverse album which is why I say it has something for everybody because it's not your typical angry metal album the whole way through or forty minutes of crazy metal. There's laid back parts, there's melancholy parts, there's uplifting sounding sections and then there's your metal and super dark, super heavy, technical stuff. We kind of just went all over the board because that's what the concept called for and we really wanted to do that justice".In the full interview Seth explains how Aenimus wrote music to reflect the moods they were hoping to achieve, the chronological order of the songs, challenges faced in writing a concept such as this and recreating someone else's work and vision, debut album Transcend Reality and more.
