Over the course of four decades, Chuck was a true “customer” of law enforcement aviation units—working alongside aircrews in countless ways. His career path spanned patrol, narcotics, SWAT operator, sniper, SWAT supervisor, and even search-and-rescue in retirement.Chuck's distinguished service is marked by numerous accolades, including the Medal of Valor, two Police Stars, the Police Commission Unit Citation, the Police Meritorious Unit Citation, two Bureau Commendations, more than 150 minor commendations, the 2009 Top Cop Award, and in retirement, the Ventura County Citizen Medal of Merit for a rescue.Chuck joins us to share the customer's perspective on aviation support—particularly during SWAT and K9 operations. It's a critical conversation because aviation units exist to serve and protect those on the ground: Our officers, deputies, troopers, agents, and ultimately, the communities we all safeguard. In episode three, we shift to a topic deeply important to both Chuck and this podcast—remembering our fallen officers. Chuck reflects on how remembrance must go beyond words and into action. One powerful example is the Police Unity Tour, which both Chuck and Jack participated in many times. What does it take to break free from a lifetime of pain and abuse? Ruth Valor's story is a powerful Christian testimony of how God can heal even the deepest wounds. From the time she was just three years old, Ruth endured sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional neglect. Her father battled alcoholism and carried his own scars from an abusive childhood, leaving Ruth desperate for love and acceptance. That search often led her into destructive relationships—what she now calls having a “broken picker.” But God had a greater plan for Ruth. At her lowest point, she encountered Jesus and began a journey of healing from abuse and breaking the cycle that had defined her life for so long. Today, Ruth leads Journey of Hope, a ministry dedicated to helping both survivors of abuse and those who have caused harm find freedom in Christ. In this powerful conversation, you'll discover: ✨ How generational trauma and “daddy issues” affect our choices ✨ Why abuse survivors often repeat destructive patterns—and how to break free ✨ The moment Ruth found hope and began her healing journey with Jesus ✨ How faith in Christ brings lasting freedom from abuse and brokenness If you've experienced abuse or know someone who has, this episode offers encouragement and practical hope. Ruth's story is proof that no matter how broken the past, Jesus can restore, redeem, and lead us into the abundant life He promises. Host Rob Couture welcomes Congressman Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin's 3rd District to the podcast. Van Orden is a retired Navy SEAL, VFW Life Member, chairman of the House VA Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity, and recent recipient of the VFW Life Saving Award. Van Orden reflects on his path from military service to Congress, the importance of veterans' voices in government, and his personal connection to the VFW dating back to his service in Bosnia. He shares how loss and hardship — including the passing of his daughter — shaped his sense of urgency in public service, and why mission-first leadership is essential to addressing the challenges facing America's veterans. The conversation highlights his first bill signed into law protecting veterans' home loans, bipartisan efforts to strengthen VA–DoD collaboration, and his advocacy for suicide prevention and smoother transitions for service members. Van Orden also recounts the powerful story of saving a young boy's life after a horrific car accident, underscoring the value veterans bring to their communities long after service. It's Monday, September 22nd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus South Korean pastor has disappeared A week after Pastor Son Hyun-bo from Busan Segyeoro Church in South Korea was arrested for violating public election laws, little information has been made public about his well-being or whereabouts, reports International Christian Concern. Pastor Son, who was arrested on September 8th, is facing the charges in part for allegedly interviewing an election candidate, Jeong Seung-yoon, during a church service and uploading a video of the conversation to social media. He also faces allegations of holding a “prayer service for victory” at Jeong's campaign office and stating, “We must vote for the right-wing candidate and truly establish God's kingdom.” Pastor Son has been active in contending against government overreach, including serving as a leader of the “Save Korea” group, which campaigns against the current left-leaning South Korean President Lee Myung, prime minister, and Democratic Party, who are in power. The outcry against Pastor Son's arrest has been strong. One representative stated openly that, “Pastor Son's arrest is not about an individual but a suppression of all religious figures.” Charlie Kirk's memorial pointed the world to Christ I felt compelled to attend Charlie Kirk's memorial at State Farm Arena in Phoenix, Arizona yesterday. (You can watch it here) So, on Friday and Saturday, my bride, Amy, and I drove 15 hours over two days from San Antonio, Texas with our three children – Honor, age 15, Mercy, age 13, and Valor, age 10 – to celebrate his life and grieve his death at the hands of an assassin's bullet on September 10th at Utah Valley University. Reportedly, 300,000 people from across America came by car and plane. Our family sat in the State Farm Arena which held 63,400 people. Next door, the Desert Diamond Arena held an additional 20,000 people who watched big video screens. Beginning with Christian worship led by Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, as well as Cody and Kari Carnes, it was a deeply moving experience as speaker after speaker echoed Charlie Kirk's call to come to Christ. Benny Johnson came to faith in Christ through Charlie Kirk Benny Johnson, a conservative influencer, was quite candid. JOHNSON: “When Charlie first met me, I was a degenerate loser. I was addicted to alcohol. I had no wife, I had no kids. I had nothing going for me. After 10 years of work with Charlie Kirk, after his witnessing to my life, I have become a Christ-centered man. I am happily married to the woman of my dreams, sitting right there with our youngest son, who just turned eight months.” He framed the assassination of Charlie Kirk in light of the truth of Genesis 50:20. JOHNSON: “What man intends for evil. God intends for good. Evil thought that there would be a funeral today. God has created a revival right here in this house right now.” (applause) Indeed, through the 3,200 chapters of Turning Point USA not only are more college students equipped with the truth, but many are coming to Christ. Frank Turek: Why Charlie Kirk is in Heaven Frank Turek is a Christian apologist who mentored Charlie with the best answers to tough questions about Christianity.  TUREK: “I want you to know that Charlie right now is in Heaven, not because he was a great husband and father. Not because he saved millions of kids out of darkness on college campuses.  Not because he changed minds and chased votes to save the country. Not because he sacrificed himself for his savior. Charlie Kirk is in Heaven because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk.” Tucker Carlson: “The only real solution is Jesus.” Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson explained what made Charlie Kirk unique. CARLSON: “The main thing about Charlie and his message, he was bringing the Gospel to the country. He was doing the thing that the people in charge hate most, which is calling for them to repent. “So how is Charlie's message different? Charlie was a political person who was deeply interested in coalition building and in getting the right people in office because he knew that vast improvements are possible politically. But he also knew that politics is not the final answer. It can't answer the deepest questions, actually. The only real solution is Jesus.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted Charlie's boldness and affirmation of marriage Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted Charlie Kirk's boldness. RUBIO: “Charlie Kirk was bold. He actively sought out to engage --peacefully, respectfully -- those who he disagreed with. As recently as two days ago, we learned of one of the hosts on CNN, who said that one of the messages he had gotten just a few days before Charlie's passing, was from him, inviting him to dialogue. “And he did this on campuses. He did this on podcasts. He did this on radio shows. He did this on television shows. Time and again, he sought to engage those he disagreed with because he understood that we were not created to isolate ourselves from one another, but to engage. “The irony in all this is that what our nation needs is the ability to discuss our differences openly, honestly, peacefully, respectfully. And Charlie Kirk did that more than anyone alive in America today is doing. This was the mission and work of Charlie Kirk.” And Secretary of State Rubio appreciated Charlie's affirmation of marriage and family to young people. RUBIO: “Understand where we are still today. In many places where young Americans are actively told that everything that they were taught, that all the foundations that made our society and our civilization so grand, they were all wrong. They were all evil, that marriage is oppressive, that children are a burden, that America is a source of evil, not of good, in the world. “And here was this voice that inspired a movement in which young Americans were told that is not true, the highest calling we are called to is to be in a successful marriage and to raise productive children.” War Secretary Hegseth: “Live worthy of Charlie Kirk's sacrifice and put Christ at the center” War Secretary Pete Hegseth explained that Charlie Kirk used the gift of persuasion on college campuses. HEGSETH: “Charlie waged war, not with a weapon, but with a tent, a microphone, his mind, and the truth. And the gates of hell could not prevail against him.” (Matthew 16:17-19) Secretary Hegseth spoke of Christian revival. HEGSETH: “Charlie started a political movement, but unleashed a spiritual revival. My pastor texted me the day after that horrific event and said, ‘Pete, the devil overplayed his hand.' Charlie started with liberty, but ended up lighting our country on fire for Christ. He started Turning Point USA, but this moment is the turning point for the USA.” And Secretary Hegseth gave America a charge in light of Charlie Kirk's Christian legacy. HEGSETH:  “Charlie Kirk was a citizen who had the biblical heart of a soldier of the faith, who put on every single day the full armor of God (Ephesians 6) with a smile as the Scriptures tell all Christ followers to do. Charlie Kirk:  a warrior for country, a warrior for Christ. He ran the race. He finished the fight. Now, it's our turn. My charge to all of you: Live worthy of Charlie Kirk's sacrifice and put Christ at the center of your life as he advocated for giving his.” Colossians 1:10 says, “Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Donald Trump, Jr. compared Charlie Kirk's martyrdom with Stephen Donald Trump, Jr.  compared the martyrdom of Stephen with the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk. TRUMP JR: “Last week, Charlie joined a long line of courageous men and women who were martyred for what they believe. According to the book of Acts, the first martyr in the early Christian church was Stephen who was stoned to death. And as Stephen was being killed, he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing, standing, at the right hand of God.' “There are many times in the Bible where Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, but this is the only time he's seen standing. And while the Bible isn't explicit about this, I like to think Jesus was standing to welcome Stephen, the courageous martyr into Heaven. Today. that gives me great comfort because 11 days ago, as a cowardly assassin crawled on his stomach to end Charlie's life on Earth, I'm betting Charlie saw the son of God standing tall to welcome him home.” Vice President J.D. Vance admired Charlie Kirk's courage Vice President J.D. Vance shared that he's been personally emboldened to share his faith more since Kirk's assassination. VANCE: “You know, I was telling somebody backstage that I always felt a little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public as much as I loved the Lord and as much it was an important part of my life. I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have my entire time in public life.” (cheers) Vice President Vance is upset that some on the Left actually cheered Charlie Kirk's death. VANCE: “He was taken from us by those who despise the virtues that actually made our civilization great to begin with: dialogue, truth, seeking family and faith. In the wake of his death, we have seen some of the very worst parts of humanity. We have watched people slander him. We have watched people justify his murder and celebrate his death.” And Vice President Vance admired Charlie Kirk's courage. VANCE: “It is better to face a gunman than to live your life afraid to speak the truth. It is better to be persecuted for your faith than to deny the kingship of Christ. It is better to die a young man in this world than to sell your soul for an easy life with no purpose, no risk, no love, and no truth.” Joshua 1:9 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Erika Kirk forgave her husband's killer And finally, Erika Kirk, Charlie's widow, who will now serve as the CEO of Turning Point USA, said something remarkable that brought all of us to our feet. ERIKA KIRK:  “On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'  (Luke 23:34) “That man, [Tyler Robinson], I forgive him. (applause as she wept) I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it's what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer, we know from the Gospel, is love, always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.” Ephesians 4:32 commands, “Forgive one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 22nd, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 Anyone who is old enough has memories of where we were when our world changed forever when the Al Qaeda terror attacks happened on Sept 11, 2001. I am commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 by speaking with Jenny's guest, Darin Kinder, a U.S. Secret Service agent was inside the World Trade Center in New York City preparing to go into a meeting when the twin towers were hit by two hijacked jetliners as debris from the plane, chunks of the building, and burning jet fuel rained down.  Amid the chaos and destruction, Darin felt God speak to him, assuring him that he was not alone.  In the midst of this harrowing event, he and some co-workers led others to safety. This traumatic experience would change his life — and set him on a mission to discover God's purpose can come out of pain. He earned the U.S. Secret Service's highest award for bravery - the Medal of Valor for his heroism that day. He's a Speaker & the Author of “Bury Me In A Dirty Suit,”  a compelling eyewitness account of 911 and explores what it means to live with a valiant purpose.  He's the founder of Fierce Faith, a Christian organization that encourages men to live purposefully serving God.  His book is dedicated to the 422 first responders who died in the line of duty responding to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. Pasha Palanker is a decorated U.S. Army veteran, speaker, and passionate advocate for mental health in the veteran community. Honored with the Bronze Star for Valor, Pasha's extraordinary journey includes surviving a suicide bomber attack during combat and overcoming the invisible wounds that followed. After navigating his own battles with anger, identity loss, and post-traumatic struggles, Pasha found purpose in helping others climb out of darkness. Now, he shares his story nationwide, impacting thousands by speaking authentically about resilience, mental wellness, and living a life of meaning beyond military service.  Takeaways: Healing Begins with Presence and Support: Sometimes the greatest help for someone struggling is not advice, but simply being there with love and understanding. It Takes Strength to Seek Help: Reaching out for support, whether through a psych ward visit or therapy, is a true display of courage—not weakness. Rewriting Purpose After Service: Transitioning from military life often means finding new purpose and challenges—embracing new missions, new hobbies, and a fresh sense of identity is crucial for a successful and fulfilling post-service life.  Sound Bites: “You don't have to be Superman, Superwoman 24/7. It's okay to not be okay and to seek help for that.” “I had to go so deep inside of myself and learn about myself in order to come out, and now I'm genuinely curious about other people and how to connect.” “You can't hold onto the life that's behind you—find something new and meaningful to challenge yourself with after the uniform comes off. Today's show:In this founder-focused episode of This Week in Startups, we sit down with Republic's Kendrick Nguyen to learn more about the company's efforts to make the private markets accessible to the common investor. Best known for its work in equity crowdfunding, the Valor-backed startup now offers access to secondary shares, tokenized assets, and much more. Following, TWiST spoke with Positron CEO Mitesh Agrawal to learn more about his company's inference-focused AI compute hardware. Related to fellow TWiST500 company Etched, Positron is building custom chips to take on the computing work required to deliver your AI query results faster and with less power draw than what GPUs can offer. With AI inference compute demand rising, the fellow Valor-backed startup has even more powerful systems coming to market in 2026 that have our hopes up that the AI cost curve can continue to point downward.Timestamps:0:00 - A future with more efficient and accessible intelligence0:41, the following sponsors are mentioned: AlphaSense, Vanta, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure1:26 - Introduction to the episode and the two featured companies, Republic and Positron2:43 - The history and purpose of Republic, a financial crowdfunding platform5:39 - Discussion of the current state and growth of equity crowdfunding9:19 - Kendrick Nguyen explains Republic's role as a financial infrastructure company, not a competitor to venture capital firms11:17 - Sponsor: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure12:25 - Republic's different products, Republic Capital and Republic Venture, are explained14:00 - The challenges and progress of secondary trading for non-accredited investors20:14 - Sponsor: Vanta21:21 - The concept of a unified "e-finance" infrastructure is introduced25:45 - Positron CEO Mitesh Agarwal discusses the future of AI chips and the limitations of current GPUs for inference workloads31:12 - Sponsor: AlphaSense32:22 - Discussion on the inefficiency of GPUs for inference and how Positron's Atlas system addresses it38:30 - Positron's strategy of using their Atlas system to prove their technology and generate revenue42:51 - The market shift from AI training to inference and the future of Positron's chips51:14 - The confidence in Positron's capital efficiency and their ability to compete with NVIDIA52:47 - Positron's focus on linear algebra acceleration rather than just transformersSubscribe to the TWiST500 newsletter: https://ticker.thisweekinstartups.comCheck out the TWIST500: https://www.twist500.comSubscribe to This Week in Startups on Apple: https://rb.gy/v19fcpFollow Lon:X: https://x.com/lonsFollow Alex:X: https://x.com/alexLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexwilhelmFollow Jason:X: https://twitter.com/JasonLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasoncalacanisThank you to our partners:(09:04) Netsuite - Download the ebook CFO's Guide to AI and Machine Learning for free at https://www.netsuite.com/twist(21:20) Coda - Empower your startup with Coda's Team plan for free—get 6 months at https://www.Coda.io/twist(31:43) .TECH: Say it without saying it.        Rupert Murdoch has finally settled his succession plan for Fox News and other properties as it will be in control of his conservative son Lachlan.  This was one crazy, bitter family feud.    Kansas AG Kris Kobach is suing the Kelly administration for withholding information from the federal government.  You have to love this one.    The DEA announces a massive 5 day sweep by 23 field offices working together to bring down a Mexican drug cartel.    The Chiefs present what sound like could be good news about receiver Xavier Worthy's shoulder but it's really hard to tell if it's just hope.  Meanwhile, the quarterback's upscale steakhouse is, indeed, going to serve ketchup on steaks.  I"m still in shock from this news I jokingly predicted.   The Royals season could finally be coming apart as they get boat raced Monday in Cleveland.  This is a rough week ahead.    And there's a great, fun, pickleball event with a cause coming up September 21 with our friends at www.valorpartners.org that we'd be thrilled if you could help out.  Kelli Campbell-Goodnow, a gold star wife and leader of Valor joins us to talk about having some fun.
