Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 Anyone who is old enough has memories of where we were when our world changed forever when the Al Qaeda terror attacks happened on Sept 11, 2001. I am commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 by speaking with Jenny's guest, Darin Kinder, a U.S. Secret Service agent was inside the World Trade Center in New York City preparing to go into a meeting when the twin towers were hit by two hijacked jetliners as debris from the plane, chunks of the building, and burning jet fuel rained down.  Amid the chaos and destruction, Darin felt God speak to him, assuring him that he was not alone.  In the midst of this harrowing event, he and some co-workers led others to safety. This traumatic experience would change his life — and set him on a mission to discover God's purpose can come out of pain. He earned the U.S. Secret Service's highest award for bravery - the Medal of Valor for his heroism that day. He's a Speaker & the Author of “Bury Me In A Dirty Suit,”  a compelling eyewitness account of 911 and explores what it means to live with a valiant purpose.  He's the founder of Fierce Faith, a Christian organization that encourages men to live purposefully serving God.  His book is dedicated to the 422 first responders who died in the line of duty responding to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. Conan the Barbarian.There is a common quote from that film, bandied about by fans, but it's not my favorite. My favorite quote from the film and my favorite scene come at the end of the picture.“Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!”To me, that was ConanOver the years the Conan archetype has been shoehorned into many games, Of course I'm looking at the very poor attempt in D&D called the Barbarian class. You might like the class, but it's not Conan, and make no mistake it was supposed to be Conan when it was introduced.In 1985 TSR tried to cash in with its own Conan RPG. In 1989 Steve Jackson Games came out with a Conan supplement for GURPS. In 2004 Mongoose Publishing launched their Conan: The Roleplaying Game which was a d20 variant. And in 2017 Modiphius released a 2d20 version called Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of.All of these games had various levels of success. I mean it's Conan, it doesn't take much for people to pick up the book and several of them were held in high regard. Personally I never found one that really clicked for me. I gave the GURPS version a try, but it just felt a little flat.Then Monolith Board Games Kickstarted Conan the Hyborian Age. This rules light system approached the barbarian and Robert E. Howards tales differently then the other versions. In Conan the Hyborian Age the story mattered. The rules were simple and left the door open for narrative to push the story. Or at least that's what the Kickstarter said.So I backed it and when I downloaded a copy of the core rulebook something special happened.I got excited. I don't know what it was, maybe it was the fantastic art, maybe it was a focus on Robert E. Howard's stories, maybe it was the very simplistic combat system, maybe it was the magic system that pulled your own life to fuel the spells, or maybe they just found the perfect combination.I had to play this thing. So I hit up the Thursday night group and said “What do you guys think about playing a Conan game?”The rest as they say is history.On this episode Mike, Christina and I are going to talk about the new Conan: They Hyborian Age TTRPG. DPAM lo tiene claro, hay que tener renta fija emergente para descorrelacionar y aportar valor. En Radio Intereconomía, Victor Asensi, Country Head en España de DPAM, ha puesto énfasis en la necesidad de que “la renta fija tiene que estar descorrelacionada”. A la hora de buscar oportunidades en la renta fija ha explicado que cuando un inversor en euros opta por una cartera tradicional formada por créditos soberanos y crédito investment grade, no está del todo descorrelacionado. RENTA FIJA EMERGENTE Aseguraba el experto que tener renta fija emergente en cartera “aporta una descorrelación importante o una rentabilidad/carry muy alta”. Es más, decía que el binomio riesgo rentabilidad es atractivo y ahora, -decía-, con menos volatilidad que en los países desarrollados. Un diagnóstico que llega mientras vemos la tensión de los últimos meses en torno a Francia y Reino Unido. “La Renta fija emergente en contrario a lo que se puede pensar, su volatilidad y riesgo ha decrecido mucho en los últimos años”. MERCADOS EMERGENTES La estrategia de DPAM se construye con un análisis exhaustivo, pero con una premisa, explicaba el experto, la de que no invierten en un país que no sea libro democrático (artículo 9 en materia de sostenibilidad); y luego miran tipos de interés e inflación. También por supuesto, buscan bancos centrales independientes. “En nuestra cartera tenemos tipos reales positivos y te da indicación de que los bancos centrales pueden bajar tipos”. Así, añadía Asensi, que “según la FED vaya bajando tipos, los emergentes seguirán bajando tipos”. EMERGENTES Y RENTABILIDAD A la hora de conformar la cartera, Asensi señalaba que es importante tener en cuenta que “hay mucho más que los países europeos en un momento en que el BCE está bajando tipos, pese a que ha llegado el momento de mantenerse, pero es probable que en diciembre o el año que viene seguirá bajado” Así subrayaba que los bonos de Brasil a 10 años pagan un 13,8%, México 8,5%; Indonesia 6,4%; Polonia 6% PAÍSES EMERGENTES Y FRONTERAS El experto de DPAM hacía hincapié en el hecho de que los países emergentes no solo están en Asia, sino que también están, por ejemplo en Latam. Aun así señalaba el peso que tiene en los índices de referencia y en el que “el 50% del índice de moneda local está en Asia”, de ahí que en su estrategia se desmarcan y gestionan allí donde creen que hay más valor. Sobre Asia, decía que ahora las rentabilidades están bajas, por lo que están infraponderados y se han ido a Latam (Brasil, México, Perú…), al este de Europa; (Polonia, República Checa) y países fronteras. Sobre los países frontera explicaba que ofrecen rentabilidades más altas aunque la liquidez es inferior y por eso le dan menos peso: “mucha rentabilidad y descorrelación”.

History's Hook 09-06-2025 Episode 25: Voices of Segregation: Judge Randolph BaxterAs part of a series on life in the segregation era, History's Hook hosts, Tom Price and Jo Ann McClellan interview Judge Randolph Baxter who graduated from Carver-Smith Highschool in 1963.  He attended Tuskegee University and the University of Akron School of Law.  While there he was an ROTC student, Mr. Baxter served his country in the Vietnam War from 1968-1971, achieving the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, among other unit citations while serving with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.  Upon his return, he completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Akron and began a legal career that spanned another forty years.  Holding several important positions, he ended his legal career as chief justice of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.  He currently holds the position of President of the AARP in the State of Ohio.

Jeff is a recognized court use of force expert with experience testifying in criminal and civil cases as well as administrative hearings. Having worked the LAPD elite Metropolitan Division, Jeff obtained extensive experience working with the Secret Service and U.S. State Department in coordinating dignitary protection details for the President, Vice President, First Lady, and any Head of State visiting Los Angeles. With this experience, he later oversaw the security of some prominent entertainers, and the venue security of a Major League Baseball team. Despite challenges in his youth to overcome dyslexia and a speech impediment, Jeff excelled athletically and academically, earning a college scholarship for ice hockey and obtaining degrees in sociology, psychology and criminal justice. Jeff recognizes the historical value of traditional policing, but also appreciates the empirical evidence which supports that equally, if not more importantly, how research data can significantly impact the future of law enforcement. He built a distinguished career in law enforcement, beginning with receiving the Certificate of Merit for having the highest level of achievement of overall performance while in the academy & i.e. academics, physical fitness, firearms proficiency, and leadership. Throughout his career, Jeff was selected for coveted positions that included working in the elite LAPD Metropolitan Division, supervising the Rampart Gang Enforcement Detail, and managing police lethal force investigations used in evaluating potential criminal culpability on the part of the involved officers and the department adjudication of the police actions. Jeff's contributions to law enforcement have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the LAPD Medal of Valor, Police Star, and Meritorious Unit Citation. His dedication to excellence is also reflected in his athletic achievements, having served as the captain of the LAPD hockey team and winning multiple medals in police sports competitions at national and international levels. Jeff's insights and experiences have informed his forthcoming book, which proposes actionable solutions for improving law enforcement practices. I had it threaded a few years ago but since the barrel profile is so thin, it's threaded 1/2x28. Most 30 cal cans are threaded 5/8x24 so I'd have to run a thread adapter for a can. Would you a) use a thread adapter and affix it in a permanent/semi-permanent fashion, b) purchase a 30 cal can able to accept a 1/2x28 thread pattern, or c) get an aftermarket barrel with a heavier profile that is cut for 5/8x24? Use case is long range plinking and hunting. Barrel length is 24" if that matters. If it doesn't, then fuck me I guess.  Kermit Thee Frog - "I'm looking at upgrading the scope on my 6.5 Grendel that I primarily used for blacktail hunting, but i'm recently getting into more mid and long range shooting at 300-1100 yards so far with it and thinking about trying out the Swampfox Warhawk 3-15. C_DOES on YouTube did a really good review of the 2-10 variant but I haven't been able to find much information on the 3-15. I'm concerned that the glass quality may be good enough for 10x but falls apart when pushed to 15x. Have any of you had any hands on experience with this optic and what are your thoughts on it? Second, I've been having an ejection issue with my AR where when fired the bolt will stay in the forward position and it's almost like the round is stuck in the chamber, even an unfired round and a dummy round get stuck to the point I have to take a punch hammer to the charging handle to get it out. Bradley C - Dear WLS With the recent abatement of the NFA tax, and the further conversation surrounding the complete repeal of the NFA, have any 2A space influencers considered the implication of a full repeal, nation wide? As much as many of us in the 2A sphere hoped for it's demise in the BBB, the State level consequences could be detrimental. Let me explain: In the State of Oregon, and I believe there are twelve other States, with the full repeal of the NFA Federally, it would cost us the ability to own, possess, or purchase NFA items. As, at least here in Oregon, they are only able to be in existence, because the NFA is a de facto registry. At this time, Oregon does not have its own requirement to register firearms, but with the implementation of Measure 114 (still tied up in the courts) and the QUEEN Governor having just signed SB 243, the noose is tightening around the firearms owner's neck. Anyway, it is my belief, that the tax was dropped to zero dollars and the NFA maintained to allow these 13 +/- States the ability to keep those NFA items, as ATF maintains their de facto registry. J.P. is also a pro team athlete and spokesperson for Origin Maine and Jocko Fuel, an American clothing and supplement company. J.P. has a signature Energy Drink flavor “Sour Apple Sniper” with Jocko Fuel. Jeremiah spent nearly a decade in the SEAL Teams with three combat deployments. Sent to the violent terrorist stronghold of Ar Ramadi, Iraq in 2006 with SEAL Team Three's Task Unit Bruiser, J.P. served as point man, machine gunner, and lead sniper for Delta Platoon opposite the American Sniper, Chris Kyle, who was in Charlie Platoon. For his leadership and courage under fire, JP was awarded a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars with Valor and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor helping Task Unit Bruiser to become the most highly decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War. He worked closely with SEAL Officers Jocko Willink, his Task Unit Commander, and Leif Babin, and was the driving force on many of the daring combat operations Jocko and Leif wrote about in Extreme Ownership. Upon his return, J.P. again worked directly for Jocko as a training instructor at Naval Special Warfare Group One Training Detachment, where he orchestrated realistic and challenging training scenarios for Special Operations Urban Combat training and Close Quarters Combat training to better prepare SEAL units for the real-world battlefield. He also served as a Combatives Instructor, Marksmanship Instructor and earned his Master Trainer Specialist qualification while helping Jocko rebuild and enhance these training programs into the highly effective platforms they are today. J.P. brings exceptional experience and frontline leadership perspective from the winning mindset and culture of Task Unit Bruiser.
