The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas,” says Randy Sutton, a man whose career with The Las Vegas Police was marked by heroism, split-second decisions, and more than a few brushes with death. Sutton, a retired Lieutenant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and a 34-year veteran of law enforcement, recently returned to the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast to share his story. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast interview, available for free on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more podcast platforms. Before joining the LVMPD, Sutton spent a decade with the Princeton, New Jersey Police Department. But it was his 24 years in Las Vegas, a city that never sleeps, that tested his courage and resilience in ways few can imagine. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. “There were multiple gun fights in my career, but one in particular stands out,” Sutton recalls in the interview. The incident involved an armed suspect wielding both a gun and edged weapons. “It could have easily cost me my life, for more reasons than one,” he says. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . That night turned into a nightmare of chaos, numerous shots fired by police and the suspect, a departmental vehicle crash, and a desperate effort to avoid getting hit. “I remember thinking, just keep moving, just keep breathing,” he says. The trauma from that moment, combined with other dangerous encounters over his decades of service, would later shape his mission to help other officers. Sutton's survival wasn't just luck, it was training, instinct, and sheer will. But the emotional scars lingered. “When you've been in that situation, when you've seen the worst of humanity and survived, you can't just go back to normal,” he says. That understanding led him to found The Wounded Blue, a National Assistance and Support Organization for Injured and Disabled Law Enforcement Officers. “Our mission is simple, make sure these heroes are never forgotten and never alone,” Sutton explains. Through support, education, assistance, and legislative advocacy, The Wounded Blue helps officers and their families navigate both physical injuries and the hidden wounds of trauma. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The Wounded Blue a National Assistance and Support Organization for Injured and Disabled Law Enforcement Officers. The Wounded Blue's Mission is to improve the lives of injured and disabled Law Enforcement Officers through Support, Education, Assistance and Legislative Advocacy. They can de-stigmatize mental health within the law enforcement community through Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Dedication to America's Law Enforcement Officers. Through The Wounded Blue's Peer Support Advocate Program, Community Outreach & Education, the Wounded Blue will ensure that they are NEVER FORGOTTEN and NEVER ALONE. They provide Support, Education, Assistance, Intervention, and counseling services to Officers and their families who have experienced incidents that have disrupted their lives. The Wounded Blue is an IRS approved 501(C)3 Charitable Organization. Your Donation is Tax Deductible. A prolific author, Sutton has also used his writing to bridge the gap between the police and the communities they serve. His book A Cop's Life: True Stories from the Heart Behind the Badge captures the deeply human side of policing. Another of his works, True Blue, is a compilation of stories from officers nationwide, accounts of gun fights, murder investigations, missing children, car chases, and the life-altering events of September 11, 2001. “These stories are about more than law enforcement, they're about humanity, resilience, and sacrifice,” Sutton says. The Las Vegas Police Gun fights and Trauma He Barely Survived, His story, Books and Organization. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. As a nationally known media commentator and one of the most highly decorated officers in LVMPD history, with awards for Valor, Community Service, and multiple Lifesaving honors, Sutton's voice carries weight. But it's his vulnerability in speaking about trauma that resonates most. His story isn't just one of survival; it's a call to action. “I barely survived that night,” he says of the gun fight that could have ended his life. “But I'm here, and I owe it to those who didn't make it home to keep fighting, this time, for them.” You can follow Randy Sutton and The Wounded Blue on their website, their Facebook and Instagram, or listen to the full interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast's website, on Apple podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. This isn't just a tale of the Las Vegas Police, gun fights, and trauma, it's a reminder that behind every badge is a story worth telling. On today’s episode of the Cops and Writers Podcast, I have with me Author and Retired DEA Agent Wes Tabor. There was so much to unpack about his incredible career in law enforcement and his accomplishments off duty that this is my first three-part interview. Part two of the interview that will go live next Sunday, and part three with be released the next day on Monday. Honestly, I could have talked to Wes all day. I will definitely have him back on the show in the future. Here's a quick bio of just some of Wes’s accomplishments. Wes became a Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy in 1988. As a deputy, Wes served as a S.W.A.T. lead, having completed the FBI S.W.A.T. school in 1995. Wes was a Defensive Tactics Instructor, anti-crime and property Detective, and earned the Florida Medal of Valor in 1996 for his heroism by disregarding his own safety, running into an apartment fire, saving multiple lives, and Mittens the cat.  In 1998, he was hired by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Wes had a 23-year career with the DEA and has been stationed in Field Divisions such as: St. Louis, Miami, Chicago, D.C., Los Angeles, and internationally in cities such as Guatemala City, Guatemala, Caracas, Venezuela, Cartagena, Colombia, and Bogota, Colombia. During this time, he was representing the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in positions such as: supervisory special agent, country attaché, assistant country attaché, Deputy Section Chief, Assistant to the Global Deputy Chief of Operations, and Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Wes was paralyzed in an auto accident where a drunk driver and career criminal had been at fault. Fortunately, he recovered from his spinal cord injury (C5/6) fracture and went back to being a DEA agent. The suspect later absconded and was on the run for 23 years, only to be captured in 2024.  He was given probation for 6 months by a local judge in Minnesota.  From 2012-2015, Wes was assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency as an Assignee to various locations in the Western Hemisphere, conducting various classified activities on behalf of the DEA while embedded with the CIA. He has worked with some of the most prestigious law enforcement and military agencies, conducting operations and training modules, with the FBI, Secret Service, Defense Intelligence Service, US Army Special Forces, and Navy Seals. As a DEA agent, rising through the ranks to Assistant Special Agent in Charge in Los Angeles, he was the division's Strike Force Commander, where he oversaw global money-laundering investigations, High Value Mexican Cartel Investigation, and led his teams in pursuit of some of the largest cases on the globe. I told you there’s a lot to Wes’s story! Today’s episode is more focused on his beginnings and his heroism. We will get to more incredible stuff in the next two episodes.    In today’s episode, we discuss: ·      Thank you to Chris Feistl for the intro. ·      An unlikely role model growing up. ·      The positive influence of the police explorer program on him as a youth. ·      His time in Florida as a Sheriff’s Deputy, working in SWAT, the detective bureau, and as a D.A.A.T. instructor. ·      Running into a fire and saving multiple people, and Mittens the cat. ·   Receiving the Florida Medal of Valor for his heroic actions. ·      Social media and law enforcement today. ·      What he sees as the weaknesses or strengths in law enforcement training today.   All of this and more on today’s episode of the Cops and Writers podcast.   Check out Wes's newest book, Infiltrate America: Blood Routes and the Rise of Latin American Gangs Check out the new Cops and Writers YouTube channel! (5:53) • [Rob O'Neil] I have a podcast as well, called “The Operator.” We're called The Operator because if you're doing anything, you're an operator. (6:18) • Having a big man to kick your ass and teach you wind a bobbin; you realize there is skill here. (9:59) • When people quit BUDS, it's not because “this is hard”. [It's because] I'm tired of the broken foot.; I'm tired of the shin splints; I'm tired of my dislocated shoulder; I'm tired. (21:20) • In BUDS, one of the biggest problems is eating too much. Like I want 5 cheeseburgers, but we have a 4-mile run afterwards. (26:35) • [Rob] and for everyone that doesn't know, can you explain what a SDV is? (39:20) [Marcus] Imagine a mini submarine and shrink it down. The difference is that a submarine is dry inside, and the SDV is completely full of water. (39:23) • Listen to Marcus discuss the details of being in an SDV for 8 hours. Talk about ultimate torture - If you have a deep freeze in your garage, fill that sucker full of water, crawl in there and sit down for 8 hours. (40:32) • The first time I got in there, I was terrified. (45:29) • [Marcus] There's stuff that happens to us out there. Sometimes safety gets in the way of it. (58:49) • [After falling down the mountain during Operation Red Wings] I could hear that stream running. I've got to get me water, but I kept thinking I can't drink out of it, because my buddies are in it. (81:07) • If you want to make God laugh, tell Him what your plan is. (92:04) • [Marcus] Bro, when you saw that son of a bitch's face [Osama Bin Laden], what was the first thing you saw? [Rob O'Neal] I saw his nose. He was skinny, wearing white – tall. (95:22 ) • My nickname was “Nisro” (Navy SEAL Rob O'Neal). When they asked “Who got him?” They go “Nisro,” and they said “Fuck! The Jackwagon Train is steaming through JULY, and Talking Lead Podcast is unloading a full-auto barrage on the year's biggest duds! Lefty's got the Lead Head Brigade locked and loaded, joined by 2A titans Ton Jones (Firebird Targets, world-record airgun marksman), Ryan “Koup” Kuperus (USMC Force Recon, The Reason Outdoors), and Tommy (TNOUTDOORS9, YouTube ballistics guru). These pros shred posers and flops with the precision of a well-aimed shot, exposing betrayals that hit harder than a .308. From 2A hypocrites to Hollywood's woke misfires, here's the Jackwagon Train's hit list for July 2025. Catch the episode on Rumble, submit your own Jackwagons, and join us at the 2025 GOALS convention in Knoxville, TN, August 8-10! Jackwagon Lineup: The Worst of 2025 Shawn Ryan: The 2A Fumble Shawn Ryan, host of The Shawn Ryan Show, thought he'd score points gifting Gavin Newsom a Sig Sauer P365 XMACRO on July 14, 2025, but fumbled by letting Newsom's “I'm not anti-gun” claim slide. X users like @MrColionNoir roasted him for the softballs, and his bizarre “furbies” remark about trans kids sparked backlash (@BooRadleytoo called it a “PR disaster”). Lefty quips, ““Shawn's 2A cred imploded quicker than the Titan submersible". Gavin Newsom: The Slick Hypocrite California's "God Da*n" Governor Newsom grinned for the cameras, accepting Ryan's Sig Sauer while dodging his anti-2A record. His July 14, 2025, interview dodged lockdown questions and fumbled a Rogan jab with “Motherf**ker”. Koup says, “Newsom's ‘pro-gun' act is slicker than his hair gel!” A perfect Jackwagon for the Brigade's scorn. Tim Kennedy: Tall Tales & Fake Valor Tim Kennedy's Bronze Star with Valor claim crumbled on July 8, 2025, after veterans called out his Scars and Stripes exaggerations (like 50 hand grenades!). Black Rifle cut ties, and his website vanished. Lefty notes, “Tim fought more in his book than Iraq!” A betrayal the 2A crowd won't forgive. SilencerCo & Capitol Armory: NFA Cash Grabs SilencerCo's “Tax-Free Tease” (July 8, 2025) hyped the OBBB's $0 tax stamp but hiked prices 20% (a scam). Capitol Armory's $150 “Fast Pass” (July 10, 2025) promised ATF shortcuts but got lost in their deception. Ton snaps, “These cons hit 2A wallets harder than ATF knocking on your door!” A duo fleecing the faithful. Hollywood's Woke Flops: Marvel & Disney Misfires Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World (Feb 14, 2025) bored fans with a B- CinemaScore and 80% Popcornmeter, slammed for “empty” plots and “corny” vibes. Disney's Lilo & Stitch (May 23, 2025) and Skeleton Crew (June 17, 2025) flopped with DEI backlash and kiddie pandering. Lefty growls, “Hollywood's woke duds make a jammed mag look epic!” Why These Guests Rule the Roast Ton Jones, airgun sharpshooter, blasts overhyped gear like his Firebird Targets make a blast on the range. Koup Kuperus, Force Recon vet, snipes posers with tactical precision. Tommy, TNOUTDOORS9's ballistics king, dissects Hollywood's failures like a 9mm through ballistics gel. Their 2A cred makes this roast a Lead Head Brigade classic, exposing betrayals that sting worse than a misfire. Join the Fight! Catch TLP 578 on Rumble and join the Jackwagon Train! Submit your 2025 Jackwagons in the comments or on IG & X. Don't miss Lefty, Ton, and Koup at the 2025 GOALS convention (Knoxville, TN, August 8-10). Enter our Firebird Targets and Talking Lead rifle giveaway—only 100 challenge coins available! Fight for liberty and lead with the Brigade. Keep your loved ones close, and keep your firearms closer!

Send us a textGunfire echoes across the Kansas plains, where desperate men take cover behind a hasty barricade of battered wagons and lifeless horses. With their ammunition dangerously low and hope dwindling, the situation looks grim—until one valiant soldier boldly steps forward, ready to embark on what appears to be a suicide mission.Welcome to the gripping tale of the Battle of Little Coon Creek, set in September 1868. This extraordinary tale chronicles how Corporal Patrick "Patty" Boyle's unrivaled bravery turned the tides in what seemed like a certain death sentence for his comrades. Historian Jeff Broome unveils how a typical dispatch run between frontier forts transformed into a desperate struggle when Boyle and Corporal Leander Herron stumbled upon their fellow soldiers under fierce attack by warriors along the Santa Fe Trail. As the drama unfolds, we see Boyle make a heart-wrenching choice—handing over his weapons with the unforgettable words, "Here, boys, you want them more than I do." He then charges headfirst into enemy lines, determined to seek reinforcements. Meanwhile, the defenders are locked in a harrowing battle that stretches through the night, their ammunition dwindling to a mere twelve rounds by dawn. Just when hope is all but lost, an unexpected sight emerges on the horizon: cavalry soldiers, gallantly charging to the rescue, clad only in their white underwear, appearing like ghostly apparitions on the battlefield. What's even more captivating is what happened after the battle. Decades later, while Corporal Leander Herron was awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor, the memory of Boyle—who had tragically passed away before he could receive recognition—remains unadorned despite his incredible heroism. In his extensive research, Broome unearthed a rare gem: a 1930 radio interview featuring the then 85-year-old Leander Herron sharing his vivid memories of that fateful night, connecting us to this often-overlooked chapter of frontier history. This tale is more than just a recounting of a military skirmish; it delves into the profound themes of sacrifice, duty, and the complex nature of heroism through the ages. For enthusiasts of the American frontier, military history, or tales of remarkable courage, Patty Boyle's midnight ride is a powerful testament to the extraordinary individuals whose stories have shaped the West.Listen, share, and subscribe to our podcast for more hidden gems from America's frontier past—where everyday heroes made history through remarkable acts of bravery.Support the showIf you'd like to buy one or more of our fully illustrated dime novel publications, you can click the link I've included.
