Joseph de Cupertino (1603-1663), parfois appelé « le saint qui volait », est une figure fascinante de l'histoire religieuse. Né Giuseppe Maria Desa à Cupertino, dans les Pouilles (sud de l'Italie), il est aujourd'hui connu comme l'un des mystiques les plus singuliers de l'Église catholique, canonisé en 1767 par Clément XIII.Issu d'une famille très pauvre, il connaît une enfance difficile : maladroit, souvent malade, peu instruit, il peine à trouver sa place. Très jeune, pourtant, il développe une intense vie spirituelle. Il tente plusieurs fois d'entrer chez les franciscains mais est refusé à cause de son manque d'éducation et de ses difficultés sociales. Finalement, il est accepté comme frère lai, puis ordonné prêtre en 1628, ce qui est en soi un petit miracle vu son niveau scolaire.Ce qui le rend célèbre, ce sont ses extases répétées, décrites par des centaines de témoins : fidèles, moines, évêques, autorités civiles… Il suffisait qu'il entende le nom de Dieu, qu'il voit une image sacrée, ou qu'il soit pris par une émotion religieuse intense, et il entrait dans un état de transe. Selon les récits de l'époque, son corps s'élevait alors d'un ou deux mètres dans les airs : c'est le phénomène de lévitation, qu'on lui attribue plus de 70 fois de manière « officielle ». Ces épisodes duraient parfois plusieurs minutes et étaient si impressionnants que les supérieurs ont fini par le cacher du public pour éviter les attroupements.Face à ces manifestations extraordinaires, l'Église, prudente, soumet Joseph à des enquêtes. Il ne sera jamais condamné : aucun signe de fraude ou de trouble mental grave n'est relevé. On estime qu'il vivait dans un état de contemplation extrême, que l'époque interprétait comme surnaturel.Sa vie est également marquée par une grande simplicité, une immense charité, et une compassion profonde, notamment envers les malades et les personnes pauvres. Il passe les dernières années de sa vie à Osimo, où il meurt en 1663.Saint Joseph de Cupertino est aujourd'hui le patron des étudiants en examens, car on raconte qu'il réussit son propre examen d'ordination uniquement grâce à une question miraculeusement simple… et à sa piété. Il est aussi le patron des aviateurs, des astronautes et… des personnes maladroites.En résumé, Joseph de Cupertino est l'un des mystiques les plus mystérieux et les plus attachants du XVIIᵉ siècle : un homme simple, profondément religieux, entouré de récits extraordinaires qui continuent d'intriguer historiens et croyants. Przemysłowe miasto w Anglii i robotnicza dzielnica w Polsce. Dwa przyczynki do świetnych piosenek. Zacznijmy od Wysp Brytyjskich. Pierwszy przystanek to Salford, w hrabstwie Greater Manchester w Anglii. Stare,  przemysłowe miasto, a co za tym idzie miasto robotnicze. Tak bardzo robotnicze, że to właśnie tu Marx i Engels pomieszkiwali aby studiować ciężkie życie brytyjskiego proletariatu. Ale nie oni są dla nas dzisiaj najważniejsi. W Salford urodził się i wychował James Henry Miller. Znamy go bardzo dobrze. Tworzył, nagrywał i występował pod pseudonimem Ewan MacColl – prawdziwa ikona angielskiego, a w zasadzie światowego folku. Zanim świat go poznał jako folkowego barda, Ewana MacColl próbował być dramaturgiem, współtworzył lewicującą grupę teatralną i pisał sztuki. Akcję jednej z nich „Landscape with Chimney” umieścił właśnie w swoim rodzinnym mieście. Żeby umilić widzom przerwę niezbędną do zmieniany dekoracji, Ewan napisał piosenkę. Ot historyjkę  przywołującą młodzieńcze wspomnienia z przemysłowego Sulford, randki pod gazownią, spacery nad starym kanałem i pierwsze pocałunki pod fabrycznym murem. Nad tym wszystkim rozciąga się przemysłowy smród i odgłosy pracującego miasta. Brudnego, starego miasta. No właśnie, no to tytuł mógł być tylko jeden „ Dirty Old Town”. Nie przypuszczał Ewan, że pisząc niewinny przerywnik do sztuki teatralnej stworzy jeden z największych przebojów wyspiarskiego folku, śpiewany w pubuch i na scenach dosłownie na całym świecie. Pierwsze nagranie autor zrealizował w 52 roku. Piosenka szybko przyjęła się w nowopowstających klubach folkowych. Wkrótce swoją wersję nagrał znany folklorysta Alan Lomax i piosenka poszła w świat. No i „Dirty Old Town” zapragnęli mieć w swoim repertuarze chyba wszyscy artyści choć trochę ocierający się o folk. A słynni The Dubliners w 68 roku dokonali tak porywającego nagrania, że wielu słuchaczy do dziś ma wrażenie że „Dirty Old Town” to irlandzki kawałek.   Ale my nie gęsi. Też mamy swoje stare miasta i ich brudne dzielnice. Szczecin. Miasto nie tak stare jak Salford ale stare. Dzielnica również stara. Pierwsze wzmianki o niej pochodzą z XIII wieku. W XIV już była wymieniana jako wieś pod nazwą Zabelsdorf. W XIX wcielona do granic administracyjnych Szczecina. Dziś jest największą dzielnicą tego miasta i nosi nazwę Niebuszewo. Dzielnica w XIX i na początku XX wieku całkiem prężnie się rozwijała, była dzielnicą przemysłowo mieszkalną, z ciekawą architekturą, której niestety nieliczne ślady pozostały do dzisiaj. Kres rozwojowi przyniosła II wojna światowa. Po wojnie dzielnica została zasiedlona powracającymi z innych terenów Niemcami, Żydami i oczywiście Polakami. Póżniej Niebuszewo zaczęli opuszczać bardziej zamożni mieszkańcy. Dzielnica podupadała, z czasem zyskała złą sławę. Winna temu była wysoka przestępczość. Dziś Niebuszewo jest umieszczane wysoko w zestawieniach polskich niebezpiecznych dzielnic. Ale w brudnej, niebezpiecznej dzielnicy też można mieć szczęśliwe dzieciństwo i bujną młodość. Sulford miało swojego barda  – Niebuszewo ma swojego. Tu pierwszych win próbował, tu pierwsze bójki toczył i tu przemierzał szlaki piwnic i strychów lider szczecińskiej punk folkowej formacji Emerald – Leszek Czarnecki. I jak Ewan o Sulford, tak Leszek o swoim dorastaniu w Niebuszewie napisał piosenkę. I to jaką. „Niebuszewo”, bo taki prosty tytuł nosi, to miejski folk najwyższej próby. Ja od pierwszego przesłuchania jestem oczarowany. Świetny tekst i kompozycja, wspaniała, niebanalna aranżacja. No i wykonanie, nie przesadzę jak powiem, że Pana Czarneckiego z zespołem spokojnie możemy umieścić na tej samej półce co MacGowana z Poguesami. Sail ho   Audycja zawiera utwory: “Dirty Old Town” w wykonaniu „The Pogues”, słowa I muzyka: Ewan MacColl „Niebuszewo” w wykonaniu zespołu „Emerald”, słowa i muzyka: Leszek Czarnecki

Parmi ses disciples, on compte le grand saint Thomas d'Aquin.Je me dispose à cette rencontre dans l'intimité avec le Seigneur. Il est là, il m'attend. Me voici, Seigneur. First we re-discuss “Smith and Jones” where the Doctor meets rebound companion Not-Rose (Martha to her family), and then encounters a platoon of Judoon on the moon. Next up is “The Shakespeare Code” where the surprisingly sexy bard flirts with both the Doctor and Martha whilst the trio attempt to vanquish a trio of mostly unsexy alien witches. Definitely most lastly is “Gridlock” where the Doctor needs to rescue a kidnapped Martha just because the Face of Boe wants to whisper sweet nothings in the Doctor's relatively tiny ear. Seriously, who knew the Face of Boe would be such a big dick?

En 2025, on célèbre les 750 ans de la cathédrale de Lausanne. Mais pourquoi un tel anniversaire dans une ville qui compte aussi une mosquée, une synagogue et de nombreuses autres églises ? Parce que ce monument raconte l'histoire de Lausanne, du canton et même de la Suisse, bien avant que le pays n'existe. De son passé savoyard à la domination bernoise, des guerres de religion à l'invention du patrimoine, la cathédrale traverse les siècles. Croyants ou non, elle nous concerne tous. Pourquoi la cathédrale de Lausanne abrite-t-elle plusieurs représentations de Moïse, toutes avec des cornes ? Née d'une erreur de traduction, cette tradition artistique se perpétue du XIII? au XIX? siècle, du portail médiéval au Moïse "Charlton Heston". Entre sculptures, beffroi et musée du Palais de Rumine, ces figures intrigantes interrogent encore notre regard. Au Moyen Âge, l'impuissance masculine ne relevait pas seulement de la sphère intime : elle était une affaire publique, sociale, et parfois judiciaire. Car être impuissant, c'était risquer de perdre bien plus que sa virilité : son mariage, son honneur, et jusqu'à sa place dans la société.Tout commence avec la conception du mariage médiéval. Dans la chrétienté, le mariage n'était pleinement valide qu'à une condition : qu'il soit « consommé ». L'union charnelle était considérée comme la preuve ultime du consentement, le sceau visible de l'alliance. Sans rapport sexuel, le mariage était jugé incomplet, voire nul. Or, si un homme ne parvenait pas à remplir ce « devoir conjugal », son épouse pouvait demander l'annulation du mariage. Et pour trancher, on ne se contentait pas de témoignages : on jugeait l'impuissance… devant un tribunal.Ces tribunaux d'impuissance — apparus dès le XIIIᵉ siècle et répandus jusqu'à la fin de l'Ancien Régime — étaient saisis à la demande de l'épouse. L'homme accusé devait alors prouver qu'il était « capable ». La procédure, humiliante, prenait parfois des allures d'épreuve publique. On convoquait des médecins, des sages-femmes, voire des prêtres pour examiner l'anatomie du mari. Et, dans les cas les plus extrêmes, le juge ordonnait une « épreuve de congrès » : le couple devait avoir un rapport sexuel devant témoins pour démontrer la virilité de l'époux. Ces scènes, mêlant voyeurisme et scandale, étaient si embarrassantes qu'elles furent interdites par Louis XVI en 1677.Mais au-delà de la honte, l'enjeu était considérable. Être reconnu impuissant pouvait entraîner l'annulation du mariage, privant l'homme de sa descendance, de ses biens, et de son honneur. Dans une société patriarcale où la virilité était synonyme de pouvoir et de fertilité, l'impuissance équivalait à une forme de mort sociale. Un homme incapable de « faire son devoir » perdait toute légitimité à diriger un foyer.Certains tentaient alors de sauver leur réputation par des moyens désespérés : remèdes à base d'herbes, prières, amulettes ou consultations de charlatans. D'autres accusaient leur épouse de sorcellerie, affirmant qu'un sort avait « noué » leur virilité. Ce « nouement d'aiguillette » était un motif courant dans les procès pour sorcellerie : la faute n'était plus celle du corps, mais du démon.Ainsi, au Moyen Âge, l'impuissance n'était pas seulement une faiblesse biologique, mais une faute sociale et religieuse. Quand on évoque les grandes civilisations précolombiennes, deux noms surgissent immédiatement : les Mayas et les Incas. Pourtant, si elles ont toutes deux marqué l'histoire de l'Amérique, elles sont très différentes dans leur localisation, leur organisation et leurs héritages.Les Mayas apparaissent bien avant les Incas. Leur civilisation se développe dès 2000 avant notre ère, dans les forêts tropicales du Yucatán, au sud du Mexique, ainsi qu'au Guatemala, au Belize et au Honduras actuels. Les Incas, eux, émergent beaucoup plus tard, au XIIIᵉ siècle, dans la cordillère des Andes, principalement au Pérou. Cette différence chronologique explique déjà un contraste : quand l'empire inca atteint son apogée au XVe siècle, les grandes cités mayas étaient déjà abandonnées depuis longtemps.Sur le plan politique, le contraste est frappant. Les Mayas n'avaient pas un empire unifié mais une mosaïque de cités-États indépendantes, comme Tikal, Palenque ou Copán, qui rivalisaient entre elles par des guerres et des alliances. Les Incas, au contraire, fondèrent un empire centralisé : le Tawantinsuyu. Depuis Cuzco, l'empereur, appelé le Sapa Inca, exerçait un pouvoir absolu sur des millions de sujets et un territoire immense s'étendant de la Colombie jusqu'au Chili.Sur le plan culturel, les Mayas brillèrent surtout par leur écriture et leurs connaissances scientifiques. Ils développèrent un système d'écriture hiéroglyphique complexe, unique en Amérique, qui permettait de noter aussi bien des événements politiques que des récits mythologiques. Ils élaborèrent également un calendrier extrêmement précis, basé sur l'astronomie, et laissèrent des monuments impressionnants comme les pyramides de Chichén Itzá. Les Incas, eux, ne connaissaient pas l'écriture. Pour conserver la mémoire des tributs ou des recensements, ils utilisaient les quipus, des cordelettes nouées dont les combinaisons servaient de code numérique. Leur génie s'exprima surtout dans l'ingénierie : routes pavées traversant les Andes, ponts suspendus, systèmes d'irrigation et villes perchées comme Machu Picchu.Enfin, leurs religions différaient. Les Mayas pratiquaient des rituels sanglants pour apaiser leurs dieux, y compris des sacrifices humains. Les Incas, eux, adoraient surtout Inti, le dieu Soleil, et considéraient l'empereur comme son descendant direct. Leurs sacrifices humains existaient, mais étaient plus rares et souvent réservés à des moments exceptionnels.En somme, les Mayas furent des astronomes et des scribes brillants, mais fragmentés politiquement. Les Incas, eux, bâtirent un empire solide et organisé, mais sans écriture.
