6AM AT THE GARAGE's Podcasts

Israeli based Obas Nenor caught our collective eye last year with his “My Way Home” EP on Moodymann’s Mahogani Music. Although fresh to many ears he has been crafting music for close to two decades. His latest release is out on Nenorion, his own imprint, and to celebrate he has put together this mix for us. 

Croatian producer, Imogen Records boss and studio owner Ilija Rudman selects just over an hour of jazz, soul and disco for our latest podcast. Adriatic Sea represent.

Kansas born and Philadelphia based Andre Wade was first brought to our attention under the Maxine & Cleo alias via L.A label Material Image. His dark, analogue yet club friendly sound stuck fondly with us until we heard him again on Steve Mizeks Argot imprint with last years "Mad Blanc" EP. We asked Andre to put together some records that he is into at the moment whilst in the midst of Philidelphia’s cold fury. A selection to warm the soul.

Our latest podcast is brought to you by one of our newest friends, Aussie rising star Mall Grab. We were lucky enough to grab this mix as the local legend takes over the world from his bedroom in Newcastle. Here he threads together an hour of classic ghetto tech and calypso 45s to make one hell of a ride. Light em up.. 

Frankfurt born up-and-comer Janis brings you the latest in our 6AM MIX series, 032. The German founded his label 'House Is OK' with Oliver Achatz and Marko Pelaic in 2012, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. In MIX032, he brings an hour of dark and brooding house.

Queensland's Andromeda Festival has impressed many with a massive 2015 lineup. We are lucky enough to host this hour long mix from co-organiser Simon Bird- it's a scintillating bass excursion to wet your whistles before the festivities commence on October 30.

Italian producer maestro Giovanni Damico blesses us with an hour of eclectic disco. It's sure to energise the soul ahead of the coming summer.

Paxton Fettel isn't just a Danish wunder-producer, he's an enigma. If you haven't already heard it, his debut LP on Greta Cottage Workshop is incredible and well worth a plethora of listens. Enjoy the products of reefer and coffee over this hour long journey.

On our recent trip to Japan we were lucky enough to run into a quite happy young man in downtown Shibuya. After a couple of beers and trip down the rabbit hole of dance music banter we realised we had a lot in common. Midori Aoyama is a local dance music promoter and DJ in Tokyo that has run his EUREKA! parties with the likes of Atjazz, Kyodai, Lay-Far and more. We asked him to take us on a bit of journey with some of his fav house records of late. Party time.

This fortnight we are lucky enough to present a live recording from Steve Mizek and Savile- an hour and a half of tunes fresh from their American tour. Argot and Tasteful Nudes label head Steve, and young gun (and Smart Bar affiliate) Savile treat us to some classic house and techno sounds from past and present.

Parisian young techno stars Ka One & St-Sene have been kind enough to put together an hour long mix of some of their finest deep techno tracks. Coming off the back of the incredible “Inside Silent EP” on Ornate music the duo don’t see themselves slowing down in the near future, with their own imprint Flyance records having a strong and consistent output. The pair also have future EPs coupled with Fred P’s ‘Soul People Music’ and Jef K’s ‘Silver Network’ set to be released later this year. The future is bright for this duo, take the journey and see for yourself.

Italian master of the depths, deep88 brings us the latest instalment of the 6am mix series. Fresh off the back of his ripping LP 'Playing Without Moving', he brings us an hour of groovy deep, house and italo disco.

Melbourne's own River Yarra brings his eclectic mix of dance records to the 6AM MIX series. This recording comes from a recent show at the Mercat, Spectacle. Incredible tunes from one of the city's most promising producers.

Dutch master Magnesii brings you the latest instalment of our 6AM MIX series, and it's one of our all time favourites. Keep an eye out for his new record out on Chronocircle, as well as some ripper work for Tom Trago's label Voyage Direct.

We had the pleasure of hosting our good friend North Pollard down at Lounge a couple of weeks back for our 6PM At The Balcony Aus day eve party. As the sun set he rose to the occasion with some of his finest house and disco grooves. Unlike us, he was sober enough to remember to record it. 6AM MIX 22! Enjoy! 

German Nils Penner brings us the latest instalment of the 6AM MIX series, 021. Having already released on Freerange to kick off 2015, the artist has a massive year ahead. Enjoy an hour of blissful, deep grooves.

Paradise Box has had quite a year. He has released his debut track “Slave 2 Knowledge” on Hot Shot Sounds ‘Rock The Box Vol.1’ comp, and followed that up with an EP on the illustrious Echovolt Recordings. To celebrate the year that was he has put together the 20th mix in the 6AM podcast series that encapsulates his vibe perfectly. Think Parish, Hardy and Collier - vibe.

We venture back out to Europe this fortnight for a live recording from French producer Ludovic Llorca- aka Art Of Tones. The mix comes from his recent set at 'Au Theatre Ce Sour’ in a small town in France. Off the back of his ‘Unstopped EP’ on Lazy Days, Ludovic selects an hour of melodic house and driving deeper cuts, captivating his audience in an old theatre.

This week we bring you another local group of disc jockeys that are very close to our heart. Joms and Alex of Clever Hands are one of Melbourne's most loved DJ duos. Whether it is warming up the steel at Melbourne's clubbing institution C GRADE or running their own parties with the Mokumo collective, they are always present with a unique and fresh selection of music primed for any time of the night.

Melbourne based collective Out of Focus present 90 minutes of down tempo bliss for your wanting ears. Known for their impeccable sound selection, the crew have outdone themselves with this gem. Out of Focus will perform at the Innocuous Laneway Party on November 21, as part of Melbourne Music Week. 

American born Berlin resident Öona Dahl has enlightened us with the latest instalment of the 6AM MIX series. Embracing her spiritualistic nature she takes us through an hour long journey that she has likened to ascending and descending pyramids within the mind. Yep, ticks all our boxes! So step into your isolation tank, lie back, and enjoy!

This fortnight we have 6AM MIX015 from the dynamic, funk-driven duo Snacks. In this hour of bliss, the pair will capture all your impending summer vibes with house, funk, soul, and everything between. The two have made waves this year with their ‘Purdie EP’ - championed by the likes of Tim Sweeney, Prosumer and Detroit Swindle - and are definitely ones to keep an eye on in 2014 and beyond.

UK born and Melbourne based producer/DJ Kloke brings us the latest in our 6AM MIX series. Let this incredible piece scramble your brain in the best kind of way. If you’re into it, check out his forthcoming EP on Sub Squared, due December. 

Lithuanian producer Sasha Pletnev aka Ponty Mython has turned in MIX013 for the next instalment in our podcast series. He is hot off a release for the legendary DIRT CREW recordings 10 year comp called “movin’ on" which he was kind enough to give away for free. Throughout the hour he shows us his unique take on deep house and grooves. 

Canadian producer Fred Everything has been an integral member of the international dance music community for over 20 years, releasing dozens of records to great critical acclaim. We are lucky enough to welcome him to 6AM for MIX012, an hour of house and deep house bliss that will no doubt get you grooving.

As we reach our sixth month of operation here at 6AM, we have taken a couple of weeks to look at back at what an amazing year it has been for music. We have been working our office chair shaped bums right off, but it’s not until you take a small break that you can reflect on what has actually been going on. With regards to the website, we have had a number of amazing and passionate people help us out so far and we are starting to build a core group of legends that we refer to as the 6AM family. This mix is a reflection of the year thus far - some tracks provoking more emotions than others - yet still a selection to show how spoilt for choice we really are. Thanks to our good friend Simon Winkler over at THUMP for prompting us to put this bad boy together for their new radio show on FBi Click. Hope you all enjoy :)

Julian Gomes, the South African deep house producer who broke onto the world scene with the beautiful ‘Love Song 28’, has been doing great things over the past few years. Many releases and collaborative works on the legendary Atjazz’s 'Atjazz Record Company' label has seen him keep his place as a stalwart in the South African house community. We were lucky enough to catch up with him right before his European tour to get an hour long slice of jazzy melodies and house grooves and for our latest 6AM MIX.

Legendary Sound Research boss 'The Legendary 1979 Orchestra' brings us the newest instalment in our '6AM MIX' series. Taking us on a journey through disco and house, the edit master and producer shows us some of the music that has influenced his latest ‘Disco Bucuresti’ EP.

Berlin-based duo Jim Cassady and Pablo bring you the latest in our 6AM MIX series. It’s an hour of guitar laced dance goodness from two up-and-coming producers making waves on the other side of the world. MIX007 comes in conjunction with Bulgarian festival ‘Meadows in the Mountains’, which kicks off June 13. The fact that the pair will hit the decks nude at this years MITM…which should give you an indication of the joy you’ll feel while listening to this podcast.
