Drawing on her expansive tastes and her cultural and queer experience, she moves with her mood to blend fierce percussion, bass-heavy club, experimental electro, and southside rap with classic acapellas and cinematic scores. Her sets are firmly rooted in the now, with tongue and cheek references folded into the chaos. The aim is body euphoria. Her goal is to uplift trans bodies and challenge her audience to move beyond genre to connect with the heart of the sound.Currently based in Naarm, Stev Zar's resume spans DJing, production, and curation. Due to the renewed lockdown restrictions, Open House Melbourne, MPavilion and Melbourne Music Week will be postponing the announced MERGE performances originally scheduled for Saturday 25th July until the end of August. As MMW commences its tenth anniversary, lets analyse the idea and impact of the annual music week in promoting a city’s music culture. She has performed at a range of venues across Australia and overseas, supporting international acts such as Kiasmos, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Dopplereffekt, DJ Stingray and Underground Resistance, as well as appearing at Pitch Music Festival, Melbourne Music Week, Meredith Music Festival and Dark Mofo in Hobart.
