Raucous club jams from the trio setting pace for a new generation of electronic fans: Dazegxd, gum.mp3 & Swami Sound, AKA EldiaNYC. Something exciting is happening on the margins of online club music. As one generation ages out, another, predominantly made up of Zoomers and Zillennials who fell into rave music mid-pandemic or arrived via gaming, is on the rise. Some of the most dialled-in electronic fans out there have threadbare connection to formalised nightlife, filling their diet instead with DJ Ess, Jane Remover, Jet Set Radio and a thriving ecosystem of global splinter styles that would draw stares from anyone who settled into their preferences pre-2019. Leading the charge—while pointedly reaffirming the value of connection as they go—are EldiaNYC, whose combination of jungle, garage, vintage Black American dance music, regional rap and screen-glued splinter styles hits like a shot of adrenaline. Swami Sound broke first with sexy drill-laced 2-step edits, and last year we named gum.mp3's "Black Life, Red Planet" as one of our favourite records—but it could have just as easily been Dazegxd's breaks-splicing "exhibition mode" instead. Eldia stack sets on radio and at parties with startlingly-fresh producers, many still in their teens. This might also be the only RA Podcast to fold in soulful ghettotech from Mr De', head-in-the-clouds plugg from rising star 454, edits of both Bounty Killer and Toro Y Moi, and multiple names (Guido YZ, synta3x, DJ B) who haven't registered on the series before. With one eye on the occasion, Eldia tip their hats to lineage, too. The trio kick off with a double scoop of Fred P, before ramping up steadily through slick forthcoming material and ironclad modern anthems on their way to a crescendo of footwork chops, baile drums and breakbeat delirium. Englene sang om fred på jorden den første julenat. Men vi er nødt til at spørge os selv: Hvad ved engle egentlig om fred?

14. Desember: "Ære være Gud i det høyeste og fred på jorden blant mennesker som har Guds velbehag!" Luk. 2, 14 Englenes sang er både en lovprisning og ei bønn. Bønn om ære til Gud og fred for mennesker, og lovprisning fordi Gud nettopp har gjort det mulig med fred. En annerledes fred som verken er logisk eller jordisk! Gud elsker alle mennesker og ønsker fred for alle, forteller Bibelen (Joh. 3, 16). Men vi kan ikke leve som vi vil og samtidig forvente denne freden. Den er nært knyttet til Jesus (Jes. 9, 6; Ef. 2, 14-17). Den som tar imot Jesus og tror på Ham som sin Frelser, blir forsont med Gud og har dermed fred med Gud (Rom. 5, 1; 2. Kor. 5, 18-21). Det er den viktigste freden. Men det er ment å få konsekvenser for livene våre også. Vi kalles til å leve i et nært fellesskap med Gud, noe som gir fred til tanker og følelser, står det i Filipperne (4, 4-7). Og fordi vi har fred med Gud og fred fra Gud, kalles vi til å bidra til fred oss imellom (Matt. 5, 9; Rom. 12, 18). Ikke rart at englene sang ære til Gud! Og så kan vi løfte våre stemmer og ord sammen med englene i dag og si ære være Gud i det høyeste, og fred på jorden blant mennesker som har Guds velbehag! Delayed favorite IT-XPO is back with another addition to his constantly evolving catalog - “Ripple.” This time in the form of a six-track release at the intersection of deep house and dub techno - supplemented by an Lb Honne remix. The EP, named after a Grateful Dead song of the same name, arrives on UK-based Oleeva Records, which has featured releases from from artists including Sam Goku and Didacte, spanning across many shades of the house and techno spectrum, all with a more emotional flavor. “Untitled 049” is one of a few Fred P moments on “Ripple”, immediately getting percussive and builds up its airy, dubby tension throughout the first half, before cathartically releasing, and once again falling back into an extended breakdown that finally leads to a maintained irresistible groove that slowly disintegrates at the end of the track. As is the case with most IT-XPO releases, this one contains energies suitable for every stage of a party, and the remix shows us a darker, harder-hitting side of Lb Honne. We premiere new music from revered house producer José Cabrera as he releases his Le Bateleur LP on his A Harmless Deed imprint. We feature ‘A Track for Clau', a Detroit-laced house groove that is rolling in futuristic funk. Accomplished Spanish artist José Cabrera enters a fresh creative chapter with the new album Le Bateleur. The storytelling and hugely personal record arrives on his own A Harmless Deed label and is a deep dive into the house music he has always loved. Over the last two decades and under several aliases, Madrid-born Cabrera established himself as a leading techno producer. He has released influential labels like Fred P's Soul People Music, Tresor, Deeply Rooted and Ron Moreli`s' L.I.E.S. records and co-runs A Harmless Deed with friend Damian Schwartz. As a DJ he has toured Europe, Asia, North and South America and proven himself to be an experimental DJ with a long-standing residency at Tresor in Berlin. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Cabrera felt detached from the techno world so used his time at home to explore new sounds. He has always had a love of house so set work on making a proper house record in the mold of greats who went before. He worked with other musicians and vocalists, made use of an array of Roland drum machines, Juno synths and Casio keys to cook up a raw and authentic sound and drew from a wide range of the back music that has soundtracked his life. The resulting album is packed with life and energy, skits from friends and timeless grooves. ‘Track For Clau' is a hyper-speed future house groove that is bursting with bumping kicks, bouncing bass rhythms and busy synth arps bringing the light to a glossy uplifting house record. This has all the makings of a classic Detroit record, with a new-groove polished finish. That seems to be the natural length for this kind of format, but sometimes they just acquire a life of their own and end up a fair bit longer and quite often those are my favourites. My conversation with the noted American DJ and producer Fred P this week is one of those longer ones, and it was one that found really rewarding. Fred Peterkin is a man of many names; best known for his work as Fred P he also releases under Black Jazz Consortium, FP-Oner, FP197, Anomaly, the list goes on. But no matter what name he picks for each project there's an unmistakable sound that runs across all his work, and that sound is born from a passionate and unending dedication to underground house music. Hailing from New York City Peterkin has released an impressive number of records over the past decade working with labels like Jus Ed's Underground Quality and Mule Music alongside his own imprint – Soul People Music. And, while his style is deeply rooted in house music, he is by no means limited to the genre. As well as producing, he's also a natural DJ who blends expertly applied craft with a simple musical intuition that can't be taught. With an album under his Adventures of Captain P moniker dropping soon, and him passing through London to play Oval Space, we jumped at the chance to meet up with him in his hotel room and find out what makes him tick.
