Dr. Mark Lyons succeeded his father and Alltech's founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons when his father passed away in 2018. He has worked for the company in countries as diverse as Serbia, Brazil, Mexico and China. Today, Mark is based at Alltech's headquarters in Kentucky, USA. Dr. Lyons has published papers and patents in areas ranging from enzyme production to global economics and is interested in the assurance of food safety and quality throughout the entire food chain.

In this episode ASA vice-president Tommy Boland, speaks with Prof. Frank O'Mara, Director of Teagasc. Frank recently assumed the role of Teagasc Director having held the role of Director of Research for a number of years. Frank has wide ranging experience of the Agri-Food Industry. Having completed his undergrad degree in UCD, he worked in the feed industry, prior to taking up a PhD position in dairy cow nutrition. He was then awarded a Newman Scholarship to develop a new energy and protein rationing system for the Irish Feed Industry. Following this he obtained a lecturing and research position in UCD, where his work included development of the Irish Greenhouse Gas inventory for the Agriculture sector and completed the first work measuring methane emissions from cattle in Ireland. Frank then left UCD to take up a role in Teagasc, and becoming the Director of Research in 2009. Frank has also made a huge contribution to scientific communication and representing Ireland on numerous international committees and working groups. He is the current president of the Animal Task Force and former president of the ASA. Frank hails from a farming background in Tipperary and continues his interest in farming today. In this episode ASA past president, Mary Delaney Speaks with Tom Tynan. Tom hails from a dairy farming background in the south east of Ireland. He was educated at University College Dublin (UCD) and Harper Adams University College Shropshire. He was the UCD Alumni Award winner from the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science in 2015 Tom joined the European Commission in 2014 and served in the cabinet of European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, for the full five-year mandate. In December 2019 he became a Member of the Trade Commissioner's Cabinet.

Dublin born Aisling and Mayo man Michael graduated with their degrees in Agricultural Science from UCD in 1990. They talk about their careers in the food industry across continental Europe, the move back to Ireland and the return to Michael's native Mayo. There they established their own flock of milking sheep and the Velvet Cloud business.
