Channel Partners 2025 | By Doug Green Vodafone is a global brand with deep roots in mobile communications, but what does Vodafone US do—and how can channel partners and carriers benefit? At Channel Partners, I sat down with David Joosten, CEO of Vodafone US, and Alain Masson, Vice President of Channel Partnership, to get the full story. “If you're supporting enterprises with a global footprint, Vodafone is a partner you should know,” Joosten told me. Vodafone US is not a consumer-facing business, but rather the enterprise arm of Vodafone Group, dedicated to serving US-headquartered multinational companies. These are typically Fortune 500 organizations that require connectivity, voice, IoT, managed services, and network solutions—not just domestically, but in 90+ countries where Vodafone operates or has deep partnerships. A Global Network with Local Expertise “We've evolved far beyond mobile,” Joosten explained. “Today, we fuel 30–40% of the world's internet traffic through our global backbone. And for US enterprises looking to scale globally, we bring both reach and regulatory know-how.” That's critical, especially in regions where companies need local contracting capabilities, compliance with local tax regulations, and in-country technical support. Vodafone can deliver on all three, thanks to its owned operations in 27 countries and partnerships in 60 more. Why the Channel Matters Alain Masson is leading Vodafone's push into the channel ecosystem in the US, building relationships with top technology services distributors (TSDs) and resellers. “We're here to extend Vodafone's capabilities to a broader audience in the US—especially those supporting globally distributed enterprises,” said Masson. “We've already seen success with large channel-led deals and continue to grow rapidly.” For partners, Vodafone offers a broad portfolio—from voice and data to IoT and managed services—all delivered through a centralized US-based team with global execution capabilities. A Message for Rural Telcos and Regional Carriers Joosten also extended an invitation to regional operators, including rural telcos, First Nation carriers, and other service providers. “We've built an entire Partner Markets organization for this. Whether it's co-branded services, shared network investments, or roaming agreements, we know how to work with other operators,” he said. With shared services, procurement scale, and AI-powered innovations already in place, Vodafone is looking to collaborate across North America—no matter the size of the partner. Where to Learn More Vodafone US may not be a household name domestically, but its global infrastructure, experience in complex markets, and now, a growing channel program, make it a powerful option for enterprises, MSPs, and carriers alike. Learn more at vodafone.com, or reach out directly to David.Joosten@vodafone.com or Alain.Masson@vodafone.com.
Public Health Careers podcast episode with Dr. Laura Magaña, PhD, MS
Rabbi Diana Gerson joins Dr. Sandie Morgan as the two discuss how faith-based communities can play a critical role in protecting children online and building a network of trusted community leaders. Rabbi Diana Gerson Rabbi Diana Gerson is the Associate Executive Vice President of the New York Board of Rabbis. She represents the organization at the United Nations and leads interfaith initiatives focused on child welfare, community resilience, and violence prevention. She is a member of the Child Dignity in a Digital World initiative and serves as Senior Advisor for Partnerships and External Relationships at the Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities. She co-founded the Global Advocacy Hub for Children and Families and is the USA Country Coordinator for the Global Network of Religions for Children. In 2024, she was appointed to the UNHCR Multi-Religious Council of Leaders. Key Points Faith-based communities play a crucial but often overlooked role in child protection. Religious institutions, such as houses of worship and community centers, function as youth-serving organizations and must take responsibility for safeguarding children. Digital literacy is a fundamental skill for both children and adults. Many older generations struggle with technology, yet children are highly adept at navigating digital spaces, often without understanding the risks. Free apps are not truly free—when users don't pay with money, they pay with their personal data. Parents and faith leaders must educate themselves on the risks of digital platforms and the terms and conditions that affect privacy and safety. Child protection policies in faith-based institutions should match those of public schools, including background checks, training, and accountability measures for both staff and volunteers. There is no single "safe" place for children—every organization must have observable and interruptible spaces to ensure child safety. Parents must take an active role in monitoring these environments. Online exploitation is a growing crisis, fueled by the ease of image sharing on digital platforms. Faith-based organizations must recognize their responsibility in digital safety education and safeguarding measures. Many faith-based organizations lack proper protocols for reporting abuse. Instead of conducting internal investigations first, they must follow legal reporting requirements and ensure transparency. Faith leaders can be powerful advocates for online safety and child protection by integrating these issues into sermons and community discussions. These conversations should not be relegated to separate, optional trainings but rather be normalized as part of faith-based teaching. Partnering with faith-based organizations in digital literacy efforts is essential. Trainings should start with executive-level leaders and then expand to parents, staff, and youth members. Involving trusted religious leaders in digital safety initiatives can help overcome parental resistance. When faith leaders co-facilitate trainings, parents are more likely to trust and engage with the material. Normalizing discussions about technology and online risks is as crucial as past societal shifts in addressing domestic violence, child abuse, and public health issues like cancer. Faith leaders must lead by example in these conversations. Young people must be seen as part of the solution, not just future stakeholders. Engaging them in leadership roles and advocacy efforts empowers them to protect themselves and their peers. Rotary International offers a solution through its unmatched global platform of 46,000 clubs, bringing 1.4 million people together across over 200 countries.John Hewko, Rotary's General Secretary and CEO, shared in today's episode how Rotary's mission addresses this growing issue. “Our clubs are all about bringing people together, about building connections,” John explained. “It provides an outstanding vehicle to stay connected, not be isolated, and to make a difference through that connection.”Since its founding in 1905, Rotary has evolved from a professional networking organization to a dynamic platform for community service. Members find opportunities to engage in local, regional, and international projects, making a tangible impact. John emphasized the organization's flexibility, allowing clubs to pursue initiatives that resonate with their members. “Rotary is exactly the opposite in terms of top-down,” he noted. “Each club has significant autonomy to carry out those things that the members are passionate about.”One of Rotary's most inspiring examples of grassroots initiative is the organization's decades-long effort to eradicate polio. What began as a small vaccination project in the Philippines has grown into a global campaign, reducing cases from 350,000 annually in 1985 to just 88 last year. “Rotarians have contributed over $2.7 billion to that effort,” John shared. “It's a great example of the power of individuals rallying around a cause.”Rotary's adaptability and global reach make it a powerful antidote to isolation. Through fellowship and service, members build deep connections while contributing to meaningful projects. If you're looking for an organization where you can engage locally and make an impact globally, Rotary might be the perfect fit.Visit Rotary.org to find a club near you and join a community of changemakers.tl;dr:* Rotary's 46,000 clubs combat loneliness and isolation by building community and fostering connections.* Members engage in local, regional, and global projects, including Rotary's polio eradication campaign.* Rotary's adaptability includes online and cause-based clubs, attracting diverse, younger members worldwide.* John Hewko's superpower, visionary leadership, transforms strategic ideas into impactful global initiatives.* Visit Rotary.org to join a network empowering individuals to make a difference globally and locally. How to Develop Visionary Leadership As a SuperpowerJohn's superpower is his ability to envision strategic goals and rally people around them. “It's grasping a vision, a strategic direction, or an important idea and driving it to a successful outcome,” John explained. He highlighted his role in promoting regional flexibility within Rotary to adapt to different needs worldwide, demonstrating his knack for strategic thinking.John's leadership was pivotal in transforming a local Rotary fundraising event, the Tour de Tucson bike ride, into a global effort. Initially raising $15,000 annually, John mobilized Rotary's global network, helping to generate over $70 million for polio eradication in 12 years. His passion for cycling and strategic vision turned a modest initiative into a monumental success.Tips for Developing Visionary Leadership:* Analyze challenges critically to identify barriers to success.* Pilot ideas locally to build momentum and demonstrate feasibility.* Use thoughtful arguments to build consensus rather than imposing solutions.* Foster adaptability by recognizing when traditional methods are no longer effective.* Leverage networks and communication to amplify successful ideas.By following John Hewko's example and advice, you can make visionary leadership a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileJohn Hewko (he/him):General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Rotary InternationalAbout Rotary International: Rotary unites a global network of volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world's most pressing humanitarian challenges and creating lasting change. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? According to Callum Laing, one of the hardest things in growing a small business is finding the right team and keeping them aligned and motivated. He emphasizes that when you have the right people working together effectively, the journey becomes much easier. However, ensuring that team members remain engaged, focused, and inspired throughout the growth process is a key challenge many business owners face. What's your favourite business book that has helped you the most? Callum Laing's favorite business book that has helped him the most is "Legacy" by James Steven Cook. This book resonates with his focus on building and maintaining strong company cultures, particularly in the context of resilience and long-term success, which are central themes in his work with boards and M&A. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Callum Laing emphasizes reading and learning through books and networks over podcasts but highlights the value of mentorship and professional communities for growth. He recommends leveraging online courses and platforms like LinkedIn to connect with peers and gain insights. For actionable advice, his books "Progressive Partnerships" and "Boardroom Blueprint" are great resources. Explore more of his insights and tools for business growth at callumlaing.com. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Callum Laing recommends leveraging advisory boards as a key resource for growing a small business. He highlights how having a group of experienced advisors can provide strategic guidance, accountability, and access to valuable networks. This tool is especially impactful for small businesses aiming to scale effectively while benefiting from diverse perspectives and expertise. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Callum Laing reflects that the advice he would give his younger self is to listen more to the great advice from mentors and apply it. He admits that, in his early days, he either lacked the context to fully understand the advice or dismissed it with overconfidence. His key takeaway is to remain open, humble, and coachable, as following sound advice could have made his journey smoother and more successful. (Conversation recorded on June 25th, 2024) Although artificial intelligence tends to dominate conversations about solving our most daunting global challenges, we may actually find some of the most potent ideas hiding in plain sight in the natural world around us. In this episode, Nate is joined by Janine Benyus, who has spent decades advocating for biomimicry – a design principle that seeks to emulate nature's models, systems, and elements to solve complex human problems in ways that are sustainable and holistic. What would our social and technological innovations look like if we started from the foundational requirement that they create conditions conducive to life? In what ways has biomimicry been inspiring projects for the last few decades, revolutionizing everything from energy production to food storage? How can we take biomimicry to a deeper level, changing the way we design and build to be attuned with local habitats and ‘return the favor' to nature – helping foster cleaner and more resilient ecosystems? About Janine Benyus: Janine Benyus is a biologist, innovation consultant, and author of six books, including Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature, in which she popularized an emerging discipline that emulates nature's designs and processes to create a healthier, more sustainable planet. In 1998, Janine co-founded Biomimicry 3.8, the world's leading nature-inspired innovation and training firm, bringing nature's sustainable designs to 250+ clients including General Electric, Google, Herman Miller, Levi's, and Microsoft. In 2006, Janine co-founded The Biomimicry Institute, a non-profit that empowers people to create nature-inspired solutions for a healthy planet. The Biomimicry Institute runs annual Design Challenges, a Global Network of tens of thousands of educators and entrepreneurs, and AskNature.org, the award-winning bio-inspiration site for inventors. In this episode of the woman emerging podcast, Julia is Joined by Puri, a scientist, whose deep love for nature has shaped the way she leads. As Puri sees it, in nature and leading, the system will fuction so long as Energy is allowed to flow freely. The moment there is a blockage in the flow of Energy, a problem arises. As human beings, we seem to be of the opinion that we must compete in this world to get ahead, however Puri makes a pointed observation that most of what plays out in nature is an act of collaboration not competition as we have been made to believe. To lead, is not about being the best at everything, instead it is about being good enough. And, what one needs to cultivate is the ability to bring people together and hold them. How do you continue to stay curious as a leader? Why is it important? How does one learn to unblock energy and facilitate collaboration? How do we redefine and measure success that values collaboration and not competition?About the Guest: Purificació Canals has a BSc and a PhD in Biological Sciences from Barcelona University and works on marine and coastal conservation. She's deeply involved in connecting people around the world to protect the ocean; first as President of MedPAN (2009-2024) and currently, as coordinator of the Global Network of MPA Manager Networks (The Ocean Foundation & Blue Nature Alliance). She's also the Institutional Relations Director at Underwater Gardens International S.L. a company focused on marine restoration.

Burning Man culture brings people together across all kinds of divides. Yet, we're seeing an uptick of intolerance around art and experiences in our community. The default world is often divided by ideology, religion, and politics. Could that division seep into this culture that aspires to welcome everyone and rise above social schisms? As a community, how can we navigate the turbulent waters between, say, Radical Self-expression and Radical Inclusion? How do we walk the line between free speech and hate speech? How do we keep our global community together in times of outright war?Tune into a roundtable discussion about concerns that don't have easy solutions. Four thinkers in the Burning Man global cultural movement explore how the act of conversation changes what might otherwise seem controversial or divisive:• Stuart Mangrum is Burning Man Project's Director of the Philosophical Center so he directed some philosophers to center around a microphone to discuss.• Caveat Magister debated and discussed Burning Man philosophy, then wrote books about it.• Kay Morrison is a veteran Black Rock City artist, active in the Global Network, and a Burning Man Project board member.• Steven Raspa is Associate Director of Community Events for Burning Man Project, and a co-founder of the Regional Network Committee. This conversation concerns art, yes, and behavior — as participants, as people. It's about being open-minded and open-hearted, even when it's difficult to do. What is a safe space? What is a brave space? How can jackassery be respectful? What's with all the questions? Tune in for the answers that lead to more questions.burningman.org/about/10-principlesTurn Your Life Into Art with Caveat Magister (Burning Man LIVE)Kay Morrison and the Overall Wonderment Quotient (Burning Man LIVE)Remember How to Burning Man with Steven Raspa (Burning Man LIVE)Stuart Mangrum's Serious Philosophy of Shenanigans (Burning Man LIVE) LIVE.BURNINGMAN.ORG

After Nick Jonsson, a Swedish-born, Southeast Asian businessman, found the mounting stresses of his job and climbing the corporate ladder untenable, he began drinking heavily, abandoned his fitness regimen, and put on a ton of weight, leading to him losing his job, as well as his wife and son. After getting help to control his alcoholism, Nick, who has now been sober for six years, recognized that one of the primary reasons business leaders were failing was having no one available to open up to about these stresses. Instead, they blew off steam in the bars and in other unhealthy outlets. He realized that businessmen, in particular, could benefit from having support to cope, just as he had to regain his sobriety. The well-traveled Nick now leads the Executive's Global Network in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia to bring business leaders together to discuss issues they face both in and out of the office. He encourages leaders all over the globe to seek out similar groups before work stresses cause them to slip down the slopes that he did. His book, “Executive Loneliness – The 5 Pathways to Overcoming Isolation, Stress, Anxiety, and Depression in the Modern Business World” is an Amazon worldwide bestseller, and provides a very logical framework with which to put anyone, not just business leaders, onto the path of a more fulfilling career and overall life. In the meantime, Nick has hammered himself back into prime shape and is one of the top-ranked competitors in the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon World Championship in New Zealand this December. My guest this week on “I HAVE TODAY with Diane Forster” is the incredible Felena Hanson. Felena calls herself “unemployable” after her position was eliminated in 2003. She became an entrepreneur back then…and she's never looked back! When Felena launched her first business, Perspective Marketing, she found her passion for supporting other female entrepreneurs through leadership roles with several professional women's organizations, including Women's Global Network and Ladies Who Launch. In 2010, Felena recognized the trend of the gig economy and the rise of coworking spaces. After nine months of research, she saw a gap in the market for a space that was especially welcoming to women. She launched her first coworking space in San Diego, California, in 2011 and has since built six additional locations across the country. Hera Hub, named after the Greek Goddess of Women, still stands out in the sea of thousands of coworking spaces. This is not only due to its spa-inspired elements but also because of the robust business support. In addition to in-person, community-building events, the online platform provides members with daily mentoring, accountability, and educational sessions to keep them connected and productive. Over the last decade, Hera Hub and its family of brands have helped over 13,000 women start or grow their businesses. Felena is on a mission to reach over 20,000 women. Felena is a published author and international speaker. Her book, “Flight Club – Rebel, Reinvent, and Thrive: How to Launch Your Dream Business” is available on Amazon. And…on top of all this…Felena had a catastrophic accident in her twenties that it's a miracle she is alive talk about today!
