Fluoride is present in nearly every body of water and occurs naturally. But why is it being added to our water supplies? And why does seemingly every dental product (Toothpaste, mouthwash, etc) contain fluoride? In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan will go into detail on the subject of fluoride. We will bring all the research we have found to you so that you can decide what you think. Aristotle said the only thing he knows for certain is that he knows nothing. It is important to always question why you believe the things you do and the assumptions you make. In that spirit of curiosity, Lonnie and Sheridan decided to talk about the possibility that the earth is flat instead of spherical. Ask yourself: Are you 100% sure the earth is a ball? Today we discuss the HUAC trials in 1947 where the House Committee on Un-American Activities held 9 days of hearings into alleged Hollywood propaganda for the Communist party. Many people working in Hollywood were blacklisted as a result of the trials, making it very difficult for them to find work. The topic for this discussion is racism. Lonnie and Sheridan discuss what the word "racism" means and why some people seem to think that a race is genetically inferior or superior to another. We often perceive ourselves differently than others perceive us. But how differently? We will put it to the test! In the interest of diving deeper into this, Lonnie and Sheridan each take a personality quiz for each other, then compare it to what the outcome was when they took it for themselves. If you want to take the quiz for yourself, go to www.16personalities.com. At the end of the episode (1:35:20), we try out a new segment where we talk briefly about something that is not long enough to be its own episode. This time, we ask the question "Is America a Christian nation?". Lonnie and Sheridan go through the origins of yoga, what its original purpose was, and how it made its way into the modern culture. Is yoga compatible with Christianity? What significance do symbols have? So many celebrities seem to use specific symbols and gestures, but what do they mean? Where do they come from? Sheridan and Lonnie talk about what some of these symbols are and their origins, as well as whether or not they can be changed to mean something different. We try to give you factual evidence as to where these symbols came from and what they mean, and the question we pose to the listener is: Should you continue to use these symbols if they are associated with paganism? We ask you to keep an open mind about the information we will be talking about. We believe you should be honest with yourself about what the origins of these symbols are. When it comes to astrology, We here at Christian Theories Podcast find ourselves disagreeing about its accuracy and usefulness. Sheridan believes astrology is more useful than not, whereas Lonnie believes that astrology is not accurate enough to be useful. HOW ACCURATE IS ASTROLOGY? The goal of this episode is to test just that. Since we didn’t know Lonnie’s Ascendant sign in the last episode, we found out what it was today. But instead of just talking about that, we decided to go a different route. In the first part of this episode, we go through each of the 12 signs of the Zodiak, and Lonnie gives each one a rating as to how much it describes both Sheridan and him. After we do all that, we then figure out what Lonnie's Ascendant sign is and see how closely it matches what we thought it should be. Then, Sheridan reveals his Ascendant sign and we see how close Lonnie was to that as well. So, if astrology is accurate, we should expect to be able to guess the sign or at least come very close. The results were, shall we say, surprising? ============== SOCIAL MEDIA ============== LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: Christian Theories Podcast https://www.facebook.com/Christian-Theories-Podcast-172385910273116/ FOLLOW US ON TWITTER: @RealCTpodcast https://twitter.com/search?q=%40realCTpodcast&src=typd
Welcome to Episode 43! Lonnie and Sheridan sit down to discuss Geomancy and how it relates to Astrology. Also, what exactly is Geomancy? We are here to explain it as best we can! Later in the episode, Lonnie and Sheridan compare their birth signs and debate about how accurate these pseudo-sciences really are. ============== SOCIAL MEDIA ============== LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: Christian Theories Podcast https://www.facebook.com/Christian-Theories-Podcast-172385910273116/ FOLLOW US ON TWITTER: @RealCTpodcast https://twitter.com/search?q=%40realCTpodcast&src=typd

Friend of the show, Danny, drops by to give a much needed third opinion. Lonnie and Sheridan finish up the topic of church denominations. This is the third part in a series, where Lonnie and Sheridan go through some Christian denominations and talk about what makes them different from each other. We want to address some questions about church denominations: 1. In what ways do they help or hurt Christianity? 2. Is there a better way to deal with the fact that people will disagree with each other about scripture? 3. Which one do we think most closely resembles what we believe?
In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan visit a Catholic church and talk all about Catholicism. We want to address some questions about church denominations: 1. In what ways do they help or hurt Christianity? 2. Is there a better way to deal with the fact that people will disagree with each other about scripture? 3. Which one do we think most closely resembles what we believe?

Lonnie and Sheridan discuss varying politics and what the Bible has to say about them. Topics of discussion include Freedom of Speech, Pursuit of Happiness, Liberty vs Equality, Socialism, Communism, Taxation, Tithing, Insurance, and other things.
Hell is not something most people like to talk about for very long, as it can become a very dark topic. It is not talked about in churches very much, and when it is, usually the focus is on how bad hell will be. Here at Christian Theories Podcast, we attempt to take a different approach. In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan talk about 3 different views on hell. These 3 views are: 1. Traditional 2. Annihilationism 3. Reconciliationism Most Christians believe in the Traditional view, which involves eternal punishment. But there are 2 other views that can be argued from a biblical basis. Annihilationism is the idea that hell is temporary, followed by the death of soul. Reconciliationism is the idea that hell is temporary, followed by reconciliation to God. In all of these views, hell exists and is a horrible place. The 2 questions these alternate views ask is "Is Hell really forever?" and if not, "What happens after that?" This information comes from a lecture given by Steve Greg, author of the book "All You Want to Know About Hell". Lonnie and Sheridan try to give a fair argument for all of these views and give plenty of references in scripture for all 3. In the end, it is up to you to decide which one makes the most sense. If you are serious about trying to understand these views and the arguments for and against them, grab a pen and paper and write some of these references down so you can look at them later, as we go through them pretty fast.
In today's episode, two guys sit down to talk about #MeToo. Lonnie and Sheridan talk about how this movement came about and what the effects of it are. Also, how do most men think about women and is rape culture a real thing? Finally, we talk about why or why not people-watching is creepy and/or weird. Is the #MeToo movement helping society or hurting it? Or maybe both? You decide.
How did the universe come into being? Is there any physical proof of the existence of God? How can you prove something with physical evidence that you cannot physically see? When it comes to this topic, people generally fall on one of two sides. Either they believe in evolution and/or random chance, or they believe that creation means there must be a creator. In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan bring up some physical evidence for the existence of God, as well as talk about some arguments from reason and logic. This is not exhaustive, as there was simply not enough time to go through every argument; however, the arguments presented are the ones we think are some of the most convincing ones. Also, we have Jessica back on to give us a third perspective!
Why are some public school failing while others seem to be doing well? How do teachers evaluate their students? Should we allow teachers to carry weapons to school to defend against school shooters? How can people be taught to think critically? These are some questions that are addressed in this episode. Lonnie and Sheridan ramble on about what their education was like, what they wish they could change, and how students are being taught in public school. At the end, they address the issue of school shootings and if teachers carrying weapons is actually an effective way to stop them. Also, home defense in general. Now, a correction: In the intro to this podcast, we said it was episode 33, when in fact, this is episode 34. We are nothing if not amateurs!
The Ark of the Covenant, according to the Torah, is where God's presence resided. It has been held sacred by the Jews for thousands of years. In 1982, an archeologist named Ron Wyatt allegedly discovered the Ark of the Covenant. Lonnie and Sheridan read an article, which is posted below, and talk about the events that led to the supposed discovery of the Ark of the Covenant. We encourage you to do your own research on this and decide for yourself if you think this man is crazy or if there is something to his story. Read about the discovery here: https://wyattmuseum.com/the-ark-of-the-covenant-special-article/2011-338
Special guest and friend of the show, Jessica, makes an appearance to discuss all sorts of things like polar bears dying, different views of the biblical trinity, President Trump, and husbands owning their wives as property. Lonnie and Sheridan also get her opinion on a few issues that they disagree on. No special topic for this episode, just talking about whatever comes to mind! Enjoy!
The Apocrypha refers to texts that are not recognized as part of the canonical work of the bible. There are many of these books, including the book of Jasher, which generally Christians do not accept as being divinely inspired and thus not part of the Bible. But should they be? Lonnie and Sheridan talk about some of these texts and give thoughts on the matter, as well as read excerpts from the Book of Jasher and see where it contradicts and agrees with the Old Testament. In typical Christian Theories fashion, this episode goes off on many a tangent, including who really wrote the book of Hebrews, so bear with us on this one! ================ LINKS ================ The Book of Jasher text: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/ Overview of the Book of Jasher: http://www.logosresourcepages.org/History/jasher.htm The Book of Jasher origins: http://lavistachurchofchrist.org/LVanswers/2011/02-04.html
In today's episode, Lonnie and Sheridan take two parables that Jesus told in the gospels and analyze them to really try to find out what they mean. A lot of times, there are deeper meanings to these parables than just what they say on a surface level; and most times, there are multiple lessons that can be extrapolated from them. The two parables covered in this episode are: The Parable of the Sower | Matthew 13:3-23 The Parable of the Workers | Matthew 20:1-16
In this episode, Lonnie and Sheridan talk about Aliens, UFO abductions, and all that fun stuff! Most people think that aliens come from outer space, but that may be far from the truth. Is it possible that aliens come from this earth, just like humans? Is it possible that they are not extra-terrestrial, but extra-dimensional instead? Also, why do they seem to be so interested in studying our genetics? Why don't Christians ever seem to get abducted? Lonnie and Sheridan talk about all this, and give theories as to what aliens really are.
Is an autocratic government a bad thing? Why or why not? These are the questions that are covered in this episode. Autocracy is a form of government in which all social and political power is in the hands of one person. As opposed to democracy, which is best defined as rule by the people. Examples include: Ancient Egypt (The Pharaoh) The Roman Empire (Emperor) Nazi Germany (Adolph Hitler) Ancient Israel (Kings) Lonnie and Sheridan discuss different forms of autocratic governments throughout history and why they succeeded or failed. Plus, Sheridan tries to sell Lonnie on the merits of autocracy. This is an interesting episode, so sit back and enjoy!
Faith and works. Which is greater? Can you have faith without works? Can you judge a man's faith by his works? Among some Christian circles this is a hotly debated topic. Some believe you must do enough good to go to heaven, and some believe you must only have faith. Still, others believe that you need both. But what does the Bible actually say? In typical Christian Theories fashion, we talk about both extremes and try to give a fair representation of each side; after which we give our thoughts on the matter. We approach this subject from the biblical definitions of faith and works and talk about what is required for salvation. To cover everything the Bible says about faith and works would take many more hours than we could fit into one podcast, but we try to cover as much as possible. Thanks for listening!
Sam Harris is an author and philosopher, as well as a blogger and a podcast host. He is an atheist and a critic of religion. In today's episode, we talk about "A Letter to a Christian Nation", which is a response from Sam Harris to Christians who criticized his book "The End of Faith". Although we are Christians, we believe in being open-minded and taking a good look at opposing views. We take some of the points that Sam Harris makes and see if they hold up to scrutiny from our side. Enjoy!
Episode 25 baby! In today's episode, we talk about the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam, and compare the Quran and the Bible; hopefully giving an accurate representation of both religions. Disclaimer: We approach the subject of Islam as we understand it as Christians and are by no means scholars on the religion of Islam. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it.
This time around, we tackle the subject of hypocrisy. We talk about what hypocrisy actually is, and why it is that people often accuse others of doing the very things they do themselves. Also, how to avoid being a hypocrite if you have any standards at all. Thanks for listening!
In this episode, we talk about the strange creatures known as cryptids. They remain a controversial topic, as there has not been a lot of solid evidence for their existence, although there are many eyewitness accounts of these "cryptids". We look into 6 of these creatures in depth, and give evidence for their existence as well as other possible explanations for the sightings that people have reported. The creatures we cover in this episode are Bigfoot, Mothman, the Jersey Devil, The Loch Ness Monster, the Chupacabra and the Mapingauri. ====== LINKS ====== Bigfoot Researchers Organization http://bfro.net Bigfoot Report 1 http://bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=57944 Bigfoot Report 2 http://bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=57944 Bigfoot Report 3 http://bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=57712 Mothman http://allcryptid.wikia.com/wiki/Mothman Mothman (Mary Hyre's Obituary) http://www.johnkeel.com/?p=220 The Jersey Devil http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Jersey_Devil Mapingauri https://exemplore.com/cryptids/Mapinguari-Sightings-Does-Mylodon-Still-Exist
Is unbridled freedom a good thing? Can there be freedom without law? For example, If there were no laws regarding punishment for murder, would that give people more freedom or less? What does it mean to truly be free? Freedom is a wonderful thing, and in this podcast, we seek to understand what it really is. Also, we talk taxes!
Today we talk about the story of Job as revealed in the Old Testament. While most people think of Job as a depressing story, there is actually a very happy ending to it. Not to mention, a lot of things we can learn about the man and apply to our own lives. The entirety of the story of Job that is recorded in the Bible probably lasted several months, but less than a year. During this time, Job experienced devastation and lost everything he owned. Even his body was being destroyed. Still he didn't turn his back on God. Afterward, God blessed him with twice as much as he had before. There is at least one lesson that everyone should be able to learn from Job.
Today we discuss immigration and what it should look like.
At the end of World War 2, the U.S. recruited over 1,600 German scientists, engineers and technicians in an effort to gain an advantage over the Soviet Union, who also grabbed up more than 2,000 scientists. Many of the people brought into the U.S. were members of the Nazi party and some had even worked directly with Hitler and Hitler's generals. We discuss the facts about this event and the effects of bringing people who sympathized with Nazism into the U.S. We also talk about MKUltra and subliminal programming.
We tackle the subject of abortion, which we believe to be a largely overlooked area of discussion. People seem to be uncomfortable speaking about it, so we are here to shed some light on the arguments in favor of and against abortion. Links are down below. | LINKS | Arguments for & against abortion: https://abortion.procon.org Planned Parenthood scandal: https://www.liveaction.org/news/one-year-later-the-videos-exposing-planned-parenthoods-baby-body-parts-scandal/
We talk about the possibilities of time travel, what it would take to actually travel back into the past or into the future, and whether or not it is possible to do so. Full disclosure: We are not scientists, so take our opinions with a grain of salt. We are merely giving our thoughts on this subject and attempting to use logic and common sense to reach a conclusion. Give a listen!
Why is pride so dangerous? It can destroy nations and entire groups of people, yet we are told today to be proud of ourselves, our accomplishments, and our possessions. Is that really a good thing? Thanks for listening!
This time around on Christian Theories Podcast, we talk about the biblical account of Ezekiel's vision in Ezekiel 1. We look at symbology and attempt to describe the strange creatures that he saw, and what the purpose of this particular vision was.
Marriage seems to be taken very lightly in this day and age, and the divorce rates are quite high. We hold a more conservative view on marriage, and believe that it should be treated seriously. In this episode, we talk about marriage, divorce, and some scenarios people might find themselves when it comes to these things, as well as how we think it should be dealt with effectively.
In this episode, we talk about the many people who claim to have sold their soul in exchange for fame and fortune. Are the people who claim this just making it up, or is there something to it? What exactly is a soul, and does Lucifer/Satan have the power to offer you wealth in exchange for it? We tackle this subject from a Christian worldview. This was quite an interesting discussion, so give a listen!
We talk about what church is and what it should be like. Also, the idea of fellowship and spending time with other believers. We discussed different forms of leadership in churches and some other related things as well. Give a listen!
Can a Communist system work? In this episode, we discuss what Communism is, and whether or not we agree with the basic concept of Socialism.
Stonehenge is one of the most stunning works of architecture and engineering for its time. The stones, most of which weigh between 25 and 50 tons, reflect the position of the sun on both the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice. Most people seem to agree that it was first built around 3,000 B.C. In this episode, we talk about why people would build this, and how we think the stones could have been moved.
Today we talk about what true Christian worship should look like. We take a look at a book by Joseph Carroll called "How to Worship Jesus Christ". Worship is an essential part of living as a believer, and we should know what it means to really worship God.
We read the account of creation in Genesis 1, and give our thoughts on it, as well as pose several different views on the subject.
Did NASA fake the moon landing in 1969? Is there any evidence to support this theory? In this episode, we give our thoughts on this. Enjoy!
