ComposersCAPE

As I have been reminded by Scott, we do in fact have "Composers" in our title. As such, I figured its time to throw out some awesome opinions for our followers to debate. It should be noted that this list was incredibly hard to compile, but I would be remiss to not do it now. Also, chances are if you ask me again in a month this list will be quite different. But the top spot hasn't changed in quite some time... Being a composer myself (Scott is also a composer), I have lots of opinions what makes a good film score. I am also aware that it is an ever changing soundscape that has evolved over time. Additionally, what makes up a good film score is hard to quantify. Personally, I tend to rely on a few things: - Was it memorable? Did the themes and soundscapes stick with me after? - Did it help create the "world" that the film exists in or was it just background filler? - I love leitmotif. How well does the composer employ themes for characters, places, feelings, etc. I tend to be biased towards my favorite composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Danny Elfman.
