Jace and Rocky are back to chat about the DC Comics titles for the week of December 11, 2024. Batman Dark Patterns debuts by reminding people why he is called the World's Greatest Detective. We see how Lois gained her powers in the Superwoman Special, but only have hints as to whose powers they might be. Meanwhile, the betrayals in the world of vampires are coming fast and furious in World War V. We have the most realistic characterization yet of Bruce and Damian's relationship as it begins to mature while in the pages of Green Lantern the Civil Corp War is over, but an even bigger threat looms.

Part of Jimmy's DC December, Phillip Kennedy Johnson is on the podcast today to talk about writing Batman and Robin beginning with issue #14 that was out on October 9th. This podcast is vengeance. It is the Knight. It. Is. Batman! Batman Arkham Knight to be exact. Clint has been a longtime fan of this game and the series, and Bryan had been looking for a reason to complete his journey through the Arkham trilogy, so together they ventured out into the cold, autumnal Gotham air and recorded a podcast about what its like to inhabit Batman in Arkham Knight. Batman is a character they both have a lot of fondness (and some criticism for), and this outting being the most maximal of Batman video game experiences, heightens those affections, and flaws, to their apex. There is a bit of something for everyone in Arkham Knight: action adventure, brawler, exploration, driving, puzzling, vehicular combat, and all of it is fairly well integrated as part of the whole experience. This time, Dawn of the Rise of the War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves offers his film noir spin on the World's Greatest Detective, starring Robert “Robbat Battinson” Pattinson as a youngish Bruce Wayne in his second year beneath the cowl. Also starring Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffery Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Paul Dano as the Riddler, and an unrecognizable Colin Farrel as the Penguin, this Bat-flick's Bat-running-time is almost 3 hours.
