Almost immediately after Justice League came out and underperformed in 2017, there were already rumblings that there was another, alternative cut that was more in the vision of director Zack Snyder. As we already discussed on that podcast, Snyder had completed a depending on who you ask amount of the film before family tragedy took him away from the production. What new director Joss Whedon eventually churned out was enough to have co-writer Chris Terrio want his name taken off the credits, and for producer Chris Nolan take Snyder aside to convince him not to watch the film because it would ‘break (his) heart. Flash forward to a pandemic ravaged time in 2020. Snyder leaked some photos of his original vision on his Twitter account and his fans took a stance that would lead to amongst the most controversial movements in film fan history. Listen in as the boys once again review Justice League. Although this time, it's more than double the length and ohhh, would you get a load of that slo-mo. Keep in mind. We are only two weeks away from a review of the film this retrospective has led up to. That of this year's Robert Pattinson starring The Batman!
Well folks, the day has arrived at long last. The day TJ has been dreading ever since we first covered A New Hope. The movie that pulled a Babu Frik and erased TJ's brain. And of course. We had to do it to him on his birthday. Threepio won't have to give us the odds on how this episode will go. Between the two of us, we have more notes than an organic chemistry exam, which means JJ and Chris Terrio will have to see us after class. How does the unmade Batman Vs Superman script (2002-2004) compare to Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? It's Andrew Kevin Walker & Akiva Goldsman vs. David Goyer & Chris Terrio as we compare the surprising similarities of the two scripts and vote on our preferences! Plus, learn how the unmade BvS tied into the Burton/Schumacher films as we go into who would've been better choices for this Batman & Superman than Colin Farrell and Jude Law and we take a rare look at a scene specific to the Andrew Kevin Walker draft that reveals that Scarecrow is the reason that Batman retired! Today, we're doing a Snyder Cut Review. Zack Snyder's Justice League was the movie we never thought we would get. It was a massive blessing to get to see the movie as it was originally intended, and boy was it a great experience. Zack Snyder brings his unique visual style and sense of story-telling, combined with Chris Terrio's awesome script. In this podcast, we delve deep and see what gems we can mine out of this amazing movie.
Debido a esas ideas reutilizadas, J.J. Zack Snyder's Justice League Plans for 2 and 3! Back in 2016, Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio mapped out their plans for Justice League 2 and 3, with storyboard art by Jim Lee. Now that we've finished covering Zack Snyder's Justice League, we have guest Zack Brown join us to dive into what the plans for the sequels originally were. Learn about the unused ideas for Justice League 1 that DIDN'T make it into the Snyder Cut, including WHY Clark Kent's return isn't explained, the possible REAL reason behind the black Superman suit, and a shocking and controversial romantic pairing. Then, we dive into the sequels that would have explored the Knightmare timeline, explained the Flash scene in BvS, and paid off the arcs for each member of the Justice League! Big thanks to Dustin Lee Massey (@dustinleemassey on IG), who did the Knightmare thumbnail art! Check out his work on his IG as well as the links below. Welcome to Episode 376. In this episode I’m joined by Dan West and Shy Aynetchi. Listen, we don’t review Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier this week because I got the only 2 guys on the planet not watching the show. Next week I’ll talk about both episodes 4 and 5 of the series. Brian talks about the new sci-fi movie out in theaters Voyagers starring Lily-Rose Depp, Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan. We also talk about the new Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer film Thunder Force now on Netflix. And yes, we talk about the comedy horror Slaxx that features a pair of murderous jeans. Yes, jeans that kill. In TV this week Brian and Dan talk a little about the latest episodes of The Walking Dead. The main topic of this episode is Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (obviously the ultimate edition), directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer! This time, Force Fed Sci-Fi is concluding its look into a galaxy far, far away after reviewing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and along the way we asked, how much fan service is too much, are there any enjoyable moments in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga and what lies ahead for the future of the Star Wars franchise. Let's dig in... Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Cast & Crew Directed by JJ Abrams: Originally, Colin Trevorrow was slated to direct this entry, but left the project due to “creative differences” with LucasFilm executives. Kathleen Kennedy and Abrams were quickly hired following his success after directing The Force Awakens. It could be that Trevorrow was more interested in taking the story in a different direction while LucasFilm/Disney was more interested in finding a “yes man” for the Star Wars saga As with The Last Jedi, most of the cast like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver returned to their respective roles once again with some surprises along the way: Harrison Ford returned in a Force memory as Han Solo and appeal his son's conflicted nature but it's likely he got the Marlon Brando treatment with cue cards shown off-screen along with a massive payday. Ian McDiarmid returned to the role of Emperor Palpatine as the shadowy evil pulling the strings behind the First Order. While his casting serves as a link to the Prequel and Classic trilogies. It almost diminishes the direction LucasFilm was attempting with this new group of characters. Richard E. Grant as Allegiant General Pryde: Grant is easily one of the best additions to the film as well as the best villain. He's ruthless, cunning and has a unique history as it's clear he served in the Empire during the timeline of the Classic Trilogy. Keri Russell as Zorii Bliss: While her character doesn't receive much screen time, she's a welcome addition to the film as she shines light onto Poe's checkered past and her character seems to only serve as an additional deus ex machina during the final battle - we could see her pop up in a film or Disney+ series with Poe in the future (more on that in a bit). Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian: Williams returns to his role after 30 years and has become something of a reclusive hermit following an adventure with Luke. He's not hiding like Luke was in The Last Jedi, but he's also reluctant to rejoin the Rebellion until the very end of the film. Naomi Ackie as Jannah: Cool name, but probably our least favorite new character. She forms a bond with Finn as she is a former stormtrooper herself. She helps aid the Resistance in their fight at the end of the film. Following the passing of Carrie Fisher in 2016, it was later announced that she would appear in The Rise of Skywalker using unused footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi but her scenes almost feel incongruous to the overall film - as much as she is beloved to the franchise, the look of her scenes seem unnatural. The Rise of Skywalker Explained: So, What Happened? Let's dive into explaining The Rise of Skywalker a bit, and for that we need to rewind back to the previous film. Following the backlash with The Last Jedi, it seems the filmmakers went out of their way to simply “play it safe” and wrap up the Skywalker saga in a pretty little bow. Problem is, JJ Abrams and screenwriter Chris Terrio interpreted this as retconning the events of The Last Jedi. By reintroducing Palpatine as the evil behind everything and implying that Snoke was created by him (semi-clone?) implies that Snoke really didn't matter in terms of the overall story. In addition, characters who were introduced in The Last Jedi, like Rose Tico, were relegated to “desk duty” for the film and had either little to no lines or simply did not factor into the action shown on screen. Luke Skywalker's characterization was also massively retconned. Following a battle where Rey nearly kills Kylo Ren,

When Jack Kirby returned to working for DC Comics in the 1970s, he introduced what would become known as the Fourth World concept. He created a science-fiction based mythology revolving around ancient space deities known as the New Gods. Similar to the gods of Earth lore, the New Gods were larger than life, possessing fantastic powers, which they used in a never-ending struggle between good and evil. Fourth World characters include Steppenwolf and Darkseid. (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Jack_Kirby%27s_Fourth_World) MAIN CAST Ben Affleck - Batman / Bruce Wayne, Henry Cavill - Superman / Clark Kent Amy Adams - Lois Lane Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman / Diana Prince Ezra Miller - The Flash / Barry Allen Jason Momoa - Aquaman / Arthur Curry Ray Fisher - Cyborg / Victor Stone Jeremy Irons - Alfred Diane Lane - Martha Kent Connie Nielsen - Queen Hippolyta J.K. Simmons - Commissioner Gordon Ciarán Hinds - Steppenwolf (voice) Amber Heard - Mera Joe Morton - Silas Stone Joe Manganiello - Mr. Wilson Jesse Eisenberg - Lex Luthor DISCUSSION NOTES What was the overall theme? Some news woke us up on Tuesday morning: Star Wars: The Force Awakens filmmaker JJ Abrams had been hired to replace Collin Trevorrow on Star Wars Episode 9. Abrams was not someone we believed would return to the franchise as he had even said publicly that he was done making sequels, remakes, and reboots and wanted to move on to original films. In this EMERGENCY PODCAST, we discuss the latest news and our thoughts on JJ Abrams as the director of Episode 9. We also learned that Chris Terrio (the Academy Award-winning writer of Argo) will co-write the movie with JJ Abrams. We talk about that choice and what it means that Terrio was involved with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We talk about the internal buzz from Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi and why Johnson isn't directing the last film in the trilogy. We discuss our concerns with JJ Abrams as a director and what we want and don't want from the final installment of this third Star Wars trilogy.
